What i dont understand is the people who voted ill never play this game , why in the name of odins raven are they hanging about in the forum answering posts about a game they never want to play.
I dont know what it is but this game has attracted all the nutters in the forum who all they want to do is bash the game to bits. There is far too much bollox and not enough objectivity.
I wasnt lucky enough to play the game so i cant even claim to be a fan boy myself but alot frorm my old school clan/guild which has gamers dating all the way back to quake 2 and have played every game of note since, every one of them say this is one of the most polished games pre release they have ever seen and thats enough for me over some random nameless whiner who managed to play an hour of the game and think it qulifies them to decide the game is rubbish.
/Sigh
Your post can go both ways...
You caring about why people are voting negatively is just about the same as them caring to vote. Some people may have had high hopes for the game and were let down in some shape or form.
it takes more to liking a game than just polish.Just becuase somone played the game "for an hour" and think it qualifies them to decide the game is totally awesome could also qualify as rubbish..
I thought AoC was fantastic when I beta'd to 20 in tortage...then I bought the game and......not so much.
Well even though I Beta Tested SWTOR and give it an 8/10 I can't justify paying the box+sub fee when I get to play another AAA mmo for free as an ex-employee. Thus I will never play SWTOR after launch.
I don't know that I'd want to be subbed longer than 6 months. I'm very much a one game at a time kind of person. If I'm playing SWToR, I won't be playing other stuff and I like trying new things.
That doesn't mean I wouldn't resubscribe to SWToR, but I'll need to stop playing it at some point and seeing what else is out there.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
I choose over a year. When I pick a mmo I'm paying for, I tend to give it honest go as with over a year you will see:
at least 1 expansion planned out and maybe released
at least 2 major patches released
population equalization and the ease of finding groups
a good feel for my community circle
a real feel on how endgame will be for myself
solid experience with the PvP system
Some other mmos that I've subbed to for over a year include:
Ultima Online
Asheron's Call
Earth & Beyond
Dark Age of Camelot
Star Wars Galaxies
Final Fantasy XI
World of Warcraft
The right formula for any MMO would be new content added on a monthly base, starting 3 months after release...
If they can keep adding new content at that rate to keep people busy for atleast 10-20 hours with story content a month and including at least one new flashpoint every month, and a raidzone every 2 months.........then people would really stick to the game.
Adding this much conetent has never been done, but if you want to keep people happy with the game and keep subbed its a requirement.
There also should be new planets from time to time, I personally would sell a new planet as a mini expansion...
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
I hope to get at least a year out of it, but that really depends on how much content they add post launch and what it is. I'm playing for the stories, if they don't add more stories, I'll be done in three months or so.
It really depends upon how the non-story aspects of the game are. While I enjoy a good story base and background, I do not enjoy it being the core aspect of the game. For me, too much 'talking heads' becomes annoying and actually drives me to cancel quicker. A good story, for me, is one that does not need to have overly long conversations. For example, the 'Dinner' scene in TESB, was not some long drawn out conversation, but rather was short on dialogue and effective on setting and story telling.
What keeps me subscribed to a game, is simply, having fun. I enjoyed EQ, because of the difficulty. The hook was to 'beat' the game, and go farther. In WoW, I simply was having fun and not taking the game seriously. Yet in other MMOs - EQ2, AoC, War, StO, Lotro, etc, I just did not have fun in the game, or stopped having fun after a certain point.
I am not seeing a lot of engaging aspects for TOR, for me, so if I buy the box, I can see myself losing interest rather fast and canceling after the first month.
Ultimately, it will depend upon how fun the MMO aspects are. Do I enjoy the world and BG PvP? Is the community fun? Does PvE feel too coddling and spoon fed?
“It’s a long term commitment, that’s the way we’re looking at it,” said Muzyka. “It’s definitely not a fire and forget but more of a… we have a really aggressive plan post launch to build content and take the feedback to heart that we’re getting from players and what they want for continued expansions, and use that feedback to build new content, so we’re releasing regular content drops and regular expansions after launch, and really accommodating what the players are asking for, dependant on what they find most fun in the game.”
If they can actually deliver constant content, similar to Rift's wonderful content updates, I'll stick around longer. ( Say what you want about Rift, but they deliver content quickly)

Somehow this poll shows much better what to expect from the game then any of those Yes or No polls.
Seems its quite popular and people plan on staying for medium till long time...

Generously put 4-6 months. Hope I'm proven wrong and it lasts longer than that.
Which FF Character Are You?

I chose 4-6 months but could be alot longer. It depends on if Bioware improves the game and adds content.
Star Wars Galaxies had a real good template, and it seemed like every update made the game worse and worse and dumbed down etc.
