Are buffers like sword muses only botted or do people actually play them in groups? I like buff classes, but don't really want to level a new character that is just going to be a bot and nothing else.
Perhaps you don't understand my question. In games like DAoC the buffer classes were never played. Their only benefit was maxing out their buff lines and then tossing them in a corner after they provided buffs. Are lineage buff classes similar to DAoC ones?
You will have to play every character actively in PvP. Sword muses will turn into enchanters at level 85, enchanters role is to buff and debuff so you will have to buff your party and use CC on enemies. Only while PvE grinding they are not so much needed, but a good one always plays active and is more needed then a 'boxed' one.

Sword Muse and Bladedancer buffs last only 2 minutes so your group needs you nearby often.
Prophets are the class most focused on buffing and little else. People don't want them for anything else.
Elven Elders besides buffing (defensive buffs) can also heal (less than a bishop but faster) and recharge MP to others.
Shilen Elders besides buffing (offensive buffs) can also heal (mostly heals over time) and recharge to others.
Warcryers buff quickly, have a couple of melee skills, a ranged magical hp drain and recover MP when attacking in melee.
Overlords also buff quickly, also have a couple of melee skills and a ranged hp drain and also recover MP in melee, but they have AoE debuffs and CC as well.

Why does it matter? I've always played the classes I liked, nevermind what other people do. You can be a better Sword Muse than any bot.

I played DaoC from beta and then for 4 years, a shaman, never once used my character as a bot.
Why would anyone care if it's a class that is usually botted or not? If you like the class, you should play it
