...or do you really want another pre-nge SWG? I hear so much talk about people wanting a sandbox mmo and I wondered how many say that because of their experiences with pre-nge SWG. Just wondering.

i really think youre on to something there, which oddly enough i had been thinking about just today when i ran across this post.

    personally i would settle for:

incredible character customization. like dnd 3.5 allows, or as you point out, preNGE SWG allowed for.

    completely open world

    deep lore

deep and even important crafting system

and honestly that would about do it for me. housing, setting (scifi, fantasy, horror, etc.,), graphical style, etc., would all be fluff or icing on the cake if the basics were there for me.

I don't want a pure sandbox.  I want sandparks and lots of them.

Pre-Cu SWG was an amazing experience, it was a true mmo because most of what went on in SWG was mmo gameplay, you had to use your initiative and do things in groups, also the classes were unbalanced so you needed to think on your feet and get two pistoleers to kill one rifleman, or two combat medics to take down a jedi etc. It was proper massively multiplayer...

Sinse WOW though swg took on board a new game play experience that would fit into the genre of World of warcraft, and it pretty much annihalted the mmo aspect from the mmo.

WOW was a big MMO mistake because the mmo part of wow is not there as much as it was with SWG. WOW made everything easy so you didnt need to use other players so much, it was a horrible idea that killed off the original idea of mmo gaming. Everyone copied WOW because of its playerbase. SWG though pre CU was a proper mmo game, and if youd seen it pre-cu and lived the year and a ha;lf I did, youd completely understand what I mean. SWG for the first year anda half is like your first ever experience with a girlfried lol It was true mmo, it was the same as planetside which required group interaction but unfortunately SOE released planetside just 3 months before a Star Wars mmo so planetside was not as famous as it could have been.

Yes SWG was hard un less you realised you had to make use of other players to get things done. It was a proper mmo that died a horrible death and ruined mmo games for the last 7 years ! It was true sandbox gaming, but once you gfot over the initial wtf do i do part, youd find yourself logging in and trying to complete a list of ten things to do, which helped you get hooked. There was so many things to do in SWG. WOW all you do is log in and do quests to infinite, there is no group interaction like SWG had pre-cu and NGE. WOW is very simple and questing is about all you do. In SWG Questing was a very small part of what you did. There was 39 professions in Pre-cu and each of them very unique.

I have forgotten what the original tiopic was lol sorry if ive gone off topic :)
