the land size of the earth is 3725 times larger

it could hold 161,074 people and only be as crowded as the earth..................
eventually were gonna have a mmo only 1000 time smaller than the earth ::::39::::::35::::::31::::::06::::::02::

How are people actually going to be going all the places? Many cities might be deserted. Probably, many of the land will just be random sites with monsters. Like the mountains and things.

Maybe so Greatness, but also...maybe not? Better to have to much space than release a game with not enough and be crowded! The game would be a failure then. Think about it. I did for 2 seconds after reading your post and I had an answer.

Then again, what do I know?

40,000 sq KM, 23,000 sq miles, or 6 times the size of EQ lol (all zoneless). The game does have an exploring aspect to it, so there might well be a lot of empty space where you wont find people, but there is going to be a hell of a lot of content to those people. I've read testomonials from the Dev chat of people who have gotten lost and actually LIKED getting lost, what other game can say that?

Hehe, Everquest is a tiny world. Here's an accurate comparison of size between DnL and some known games.

Lineage 2's land size is enormous! I do not think it is bigger than DnL though. It took me like 10 minutes to walk from Gludin To Gludio(All the people who have played this game know), and on the map they are like half an inch apart lol.

Firstly there will be only 1 server, which hopefully will be stable, so you will need a lot of space to move about.

Secondly, 130,000 are, apparently signed up just to try beta. If 100,000 actually like the game and start playing that will more than any game, AFAIK, located in one world, all able to meet and interact.

And IF they can pull off what they claim DnL will be a true revolution and MANY people will join the community and start playing, especially many currently playing EQ2 and WoW that will be high level by April and looking for something fresh, and a break from the grind.

It would be truly amazing to have 2 or even 3 hundred thousand subscribed to 1 server, at least a third of them playing concurrently, at any one time, huge battles being waged across the world, guilds of a 1000 engaged in war, or grand projects.

I honestly don't know why guild wars is more highly anticipated by mmoprg.com members.

because it is "free", people don't realize they are going to have to buy expansions every few months to pay for Guild Wars upkeep costs. I guess it appeals to the casual gamers.

Make of it what you will.

I've played Lineage 2 myself. It's smaller than the size of Everquest and that game is only a fraction of Dark and Light.

Well, it's not exactly 1 server, it's a server cluster that all supports one world. If one of the servers dies the others pick up the pace and compinsate for the loss. So stablility I don't think will be an issue unless the power goes out.... hope they have some generators lol.

To be honest here, Lineage 2 is like an ant when compared to DnL, in terms of size.

There are rangers in DnL right? And, if so, what are all of the benefits they get to their compass and charting/tracking abilities if anyone knows?

I played a ranger in EQ but all my abilities were mostly wasted; track, forage, sneak, hide(skills) invis, levitate, SoW(spells); Cos I was forced to hunt in (mostly underground) zones grouped, to get exp. That or grind out boring exp fear kiting, bah! Rangers were really just lightly armored fighters, ranging never came into it.

In Horizons I played a ranger, with a large, seamless world to go and explore, but I had no unique ranger skills with which to do that.

I hope to get racial abilities, class traits and quests with which to develop my ranger in DnL through hunting and exploring. One disappointment though; there are rangers and archers. So I assume that a ranger will not use bow as a primary weapon, maybe not even as a secondary, only a pulling device. Will have to wait and see.

Charting will be a skill the explorer has, and I think you have to make that career choice by lvl 15 or something, if I remember correctly what I read recently.

the only 2 mmo I have gotten to a respectable level in 55 in eq and allmost 40 in l2

and l2 is about 25 or 30% bigger than the 4 main contenents and luclin in eq (I was to much of a noob to hit the plains in EQ :(

so all in all I think it is the same size as EQ but keep in mind if there are 10 more chronicals that add all the new areas that were in eq ......if the add the same amount of content in l2 as the did in lineage 1 it should end up being 3 times bigger than it is now and the new content is freeeeeeeeeeee :D

Iam looking forward to DnL but I hate how realistic the armor looks I like the over stylised style of l2 :D
