Ummm, unless I'm missing something, you only got one free month.
Giving somebody 5 months free doesn't sound like its profitable for them. What happens if after 5 months you decide again you want to cancel your subscription, what would they do, offer you another free month?

one month for me and upto 5 friends, so the code can be reemed 5 times (will obviously be only one per account.
and im sure they will take into consideration, your time subscribed and so on into consideration to stop people abusing it.

Rift hasn't shut down yet? I left after they eliminated the assassin class with Nysrs brand several months ago. The developers really didn't seem to have a clue what made certain classes tick. Some things are nerfable (dps, hps, burst, etc) but removing the single attribute that defines a class isn't nerfing its sending to the barn and shooting it in the head.
I'm genuinely surprised they haven't shut it down or gone free2play yet. Good for them they still can keep it running.
SWTOR and GW2 willbe the nail in its coffin though I'm sure...

1) Cash->Gems->Gold->Influence->WvWvWBoosts = PAY2WIN
2) Mystic Chests = Crass in-game cash shop advertisements
Smart strategy, but not good customer service. They arent doing it because they want to please, they figure one or twp of your 4 friends might stay past the free month

I guess they are desperately trying to close the year with as many subs remaining in the book as possible. Other people wrote about they've gotten a free month on cancellation as well.
SWTOR probably started to hurt them by now, so rather give everyone who cancels a free month -at least it's an active sub to count.
This is a direct impact of SWTOR on Rift -who are the folks stating there SWTOR wouldn't have any? "It's sci-fi, won't attract the fantasy crowds", "it's story driven...", "doesn't have a soul system like Rift has.." - it's free keys recently and free subs now. That's what the state of the game is.
PS: In before the guy who states that it's not desperate, but "clever marketing"

Apparently Warbs, Trion doesn't want you spreading this "good news" around on their forums. I'm guessing they if their customers find out they can quit Rift and get a free 30 days they will all do that, lol.
