Presently, I am taking an extended break from EVE Online. I am praying that Archage will come to the US. So, I am not playing anything at the moment. Instead, I have opened up my Warhammer miniature collection and I have started painting. Also, I am spending time doing a little writing and reading. Also, I am contemplating man's place in the Universe, which I plan to write a treatise concerning.

I'm not really much of a Single Player gamer, never have been. I was drawn in by the concept of a MMORPG as a world full of other players and the persistence of it all. I could adventure and explore the way I always dreamed of, but wasn't able to do in RL, what with my biggest goal of just raising a family and all that entails. Add on top of that the fantasy or sci-fi elements of great movies or books, and it's that much more appealing.
But with the lack of anything close to quality being available in the kind of worldly game of mystery and exploration and discovery that I want, I'm sitting on the sidelines waiting. So I'm just playing Skyrim as sort of a placeholder. It's that or just drop out entirely and find a hobby outside of gaming, which I'm getting close to.
The market is SO bad right now that I'm playing a MUD (text based game) Lusternia. AND 2 MMORTSs. Waiting for either !!!SALEM!!! (Sandbox heaven) or Guild Wars 2 (First game I will ever preorder). Thats about bloody it!
I'm the hardcore player, the one that rushes lvl cap before you even finish the starting area.

Sorry to infer you are demented, but the last time I hit a link to a site from a poster here, a SWG nut proceed to take my IP addy , and stalked my oldest kid. No way I ever click on a site from a poster here again if it isnt to a well known site.
Does your old MMO gamers site deal with the BW NW, or the earlier version? Was just wondering. I havent played the BW NWN in a long time, but it did have some great user tools for folks.
Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget.
I'm not bitter, though I like a good sandbox game sometimes. I am wondering why, if people want an AAA sandbox game so badly, they don't just go play one. I'm playing one right now: Uncharted Waters Online.
The people who seem to be bitter are not merely the people who want a sandbox game, but people who want a free for all full loot PVP sandbox game with something along the lines of traditional MMORPG combat. That's a much narrower slice than merely sandboxes, and it excludes all three of the good sandbox games that I'm aware of.

Well, I'm definitely going to be taking a more serious look at Uncharted Waters Online. But, I am curious (as I respect your opinion), what are the other two sandbox titles that you consider "good".

Puzzle Pirates and A Tale in the Desert are the others that I've liked. ATITD isn't very polished, but does enough off-the-wall stuff that it was a nice change of pace. And they're both very much sandbox games.
Read that thread if you want to know about Uncharted Waters Online. If you think that thread is too long, then it's not the game for you, as you'd have too short of an attention span for it.

Thanks for the response and thanks for the link. I'm going to enjoy reading your OP in that thread.

Why are commenting on sandbox games if u don't like grind cause thats what u do in a sandbox mmo u GRIND!!
Skyrim, Minecraft, Civ V and got my old Mechwarrior titles from the attic to be ready for my game of dreams second half 2012.
Dude, Civ IV Caveman2Cosmos mod completely destroys Civ V. In fact, it makes Civ V seem like Civ Revolution by comparison. Not sure why you would put Civ V on that list...
GW2 "built from the ground up with microtransactions in mind" 1) Cash->Gems->Gold->Influence->WvWvWBoosts = PAY2WIN 2) Mystic Chests = Crass in-game cash shop advertisements

It is Biowares Neverwinter Night Version 1 (not the NWN2 Crap from another devloper) Go to the website for details
I just got Fallout New Vegas as a gift from a Gift Exchange and I fucking love it! I think the best sandbox or (should I say open ended RPGs) are the single players ones right now.
I have to say if Darkfall had a little more variety, i would play that but it almost seems like everyone is the fucking same.
I'm just sticking to Eve Online Fallen Earth, League of Legends, (I might start playing Minecraft), and just sticking to Fallout New Vegas until a good sandbox MMO comes out!
Minecraft, Skyrim and little bit of programming and heavy gym workouts.
We need a MMORPG Cataclysm asap, finish the dark age of MMORPGS now!
"Everything you're bitching about is wrong. People don't have the time to invest in corpse runs, impossible zones, or long winded quests. Sometimes, they just want to pop on and play." "Then maybe MMORPGs aren't for you."
A D&D setting with several friends over the weekends and two a week, and also several f2p time sinks while i wait. Going back to the true and origanal sandboxes is the only cure for the bitter sandbox players out there. Weither it is wod, D&D, or other such games it is the main way i sate that hunger.

Going to play through a storyline or two of TOR, who knows, maybe it will grab me some...

The Second Age of course!
It's a free UO shard that rocks! Very hard PVP and excellent population. Pre-Trammel.
But I will also be playing TOR because I am a Star Wars nerd.
Offline games.

I spend most of my free time programming. I played a little Skyrim and Realm of the Mad God lately.
Play as your fav retro characters: cnd-online.net. My site: www.lysle.net. Blog: creatingaworld.blogspot.com.
