Custom Security Authentication Key

So, what is that thing? I'm talking about the small key chain thingy that comes in the CE box. The store I ordered it says: "Security Authentication Key Fob: Keep your Lightsaber and credits safe with this custom Security Authentication Key Fob for your game account."

How does it actually work?

thats just like the WoW security autentication keychain... when loging in to the game it will ask you for authentication code, you press the button on the keychain and type the numbers / code it shows you and then log in.

Register the key fob into your account, then you would use the fob to log into your account each time, it will produce a random digit number thats associated to your account only.

The key is a small electronic device that creates a random, unique security code for your account each time. You register that device to your account. So pretty much when you log in to star wars you'll have to enter your username, password, click a button on the authentication device and also enter the code that you see on the its display. So 3 things to enter before you log in instead of 2.

Ah... But I haven't played WoW in ages. And back then there was no authenticators, at least not in my box. So I'm guessing when I start the client, I write code in the "Security Key: Optional" part in the login window?

Might be worth acquiring just to avoid re-answering the same security questions...if it skips that part.

All right, thanks for your answers all! Guess it's a good thing to have. After all, I was one of those whose account got hacked during Rift's launch. It sucked donkey balls.

Heh, well at least you didn't call it a key logger. So you're not as clueless as some other people. :)

I'm not saying it'll be 100% effective but its as damned close as you can be.  And you'd be damned sure this thing is game is going to be the subject of PLENTY of chinese hackers.
