I was kind of shocked that the forums will be closed until launch. When they said they were updating the forums, I had no idea they meant a lockdown of those proportions. It's like the community has suddenly been cast into a darkness it hasn't known for over 3 years.

And when the forums come back, you will need a subscription to post ... which suits me fine.

I have to work the late shift on the 13th. So I will be getting up ealry just to see if I have the E-mail to play. Then hopefully get a few hours before I go to work. I am anxously awaiting as well. Even though I plan on taking my time while leveling, I still can't wait to start.

I have seen and read some posts that squawked about no 'open' beta, the removal of grace periods and the increase in early access time by two days. As an old retired game designer with at least some right to call myself a professional, my read on these items is that the pre-order population and estimates for general launch day Christmas sales has blown up their launch day estimates by a full order of magnitude. The roll in or waves of playstart before official launch is a hard effort to ease what will be an enormous launch. The first beta I played in, one before Thanksgiving, I had a que on server where I was #3718 and took about 15 min to get in. There was no que for server access on the Nov 25 beta. Now they have taken steps to reduce the full on launch day population by as many players as possible before the day by extending the early access. Why? Because the preorder of the game has increased dramatically in November - meaning the unofficial estimate of 2 million has increased dramatically.

They are desperate to get in as many players as possible before Dec 20 - The starter planet I played in beta was CROWDED with players, even tho the Nov 25 beta let you play your previous beta character. All in all I won't be surprised at a 3 million player+ launch day. Players might get a little annoyed but Investors will be jumping for joy.

Game seems solid, I had fun and preordered the first hour we were allowed, uninstalled and redownloaded after I got the email and I am now with the other posters - waiting till 6 AM CST Tuesday - and as I am retired I can play as much and as long as I want.

Not till GW2 and TSW release ; p

How many servers SWTOR will launch with on release?

ShredderSE - Umm how many do they need? Maybe 6.
US, EU, Asian, France, German and Russian.
Subs will be so low there is no need for more
    Snoocky-How many servers?
The first 3 months a lot...after that 2 i guess, one for PVE and 1 for PVP...

Thorbrand - SWTOR doesn't have longevity at all. Might be one of the shortest lived MMOs.

Lucky for me i have played GW2 twice in the last two years,i dont think we will see the same reaction to that game as we have seen to SWTOR.I am just happy that the SWTOR diehards will be gone.I think they are the worst followers of any MMO i have seen and considering WOW followers, thats saying something.

That is what you think but no game is spared on these forums. nothing wrong with dreaming though. As far as diehard SWTOR defenders are they worse than this guy? *chuckles*

There are others who strive to get ahead, better themselves, are not satisfied with the status quo, live life to its fullest and want something better from their leisure activity.....those people demand their game be different, better and push the boundarys. These people are waiting for GW2.

I am fine with people wanting subpar gaming experiences, and im sure they are entertained moreso then I would be from a shallow gaming experience but thank god I am not blinded by mediocrity and the status quo. GW2 or TSW are the saviors this genre is so desperatly in need of.

This is the reason I didn't pre-order even after playing a couple of beta weekends and enjoying the game. I knew it would be a nightmare on launch day. Even with early access I think the queues on launch day will be long. I decided to let things settle for a week or two, let the server populations even out, allow time for new servers to come online before I start playing.

By the time the majority of the players hit the level cap, those two weeks won't make any difference at all.

Oh they're pulling off that old malarkey are they? I hope they at least have the decency to leave one forum open for non-subscribers. You might ask why, but I say it opens debate, and why should subcribers be the only ones to have a say? Yes they give money to Bioware but every one has the option to do so and so should be entitled to a say in discussions that may even entice them to give money.

Ahhh, self-introspection....such a rare thing.  GW2 fans are no exception.

Nope forums will be open to subscribers only. No none sub forums. u can view and read forums if u want u just cant post unless u are subbed to game.

I think it helps to keep the trolls away. Not all of them but it gets rid of the gw 2 is better crowd.  Or the why play tor wow is better crowd.

With all the hate and love of tor its really a smart move to keep the haters as far from tor forums as possible and keep only paying customers allowed to post

That said for the the tor is worst game people really no way. Gw 2 fans are 100 times worse. U think this game is reinjventing the entire mmo wheel and they are just using a bunch of concepts others have done before.

U blast tor and try to convince us to hate it and get all huff when we defend it and ourselves for likeing to rso no tor fans are the worst. Not even close

Because subscribers are the ones who are paying the money?  And, the real question is, why would someone who isn't a subscriber to the game feel the need to post on the game forums anyway?  If the game doesn't interest you, or you think the game sucks, why ever go to the forums?  I think we know the answer to that question, don't we?

You can still read the forums, you just can't post without a sub.  So if you are on the fence about subscribing, you get all the info you need by reading.
