LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity. I am, usually on the sandbox .. more "hardcore" side of things, but I also do just want to have fun. So lighten up already
Is anyone else sick of this WoW vs SW:ToR crap? For the last few weeks it has been SW:ToR vs the world....I am so sick of SW:ToR I'll be so glad when it launches so these people will go play the game!

I'm sure tired of it, I've given up reading a lot of the posts made by users here anymore its either the same VS fanboy threads or the why F2P is better the P2P , frankly I just read the news and articles by the staff now every now and again I'll post something in the general gaming section other than that its the same ol crap anymore.
Over what period of time? This game is going to boom and then bust, just like every other MMO. It will probably spike to like 2 or 3 mil, and the sink back down to a quarter million where it will sit for the forseeable future. It's just like Warhammer, Age of Conan, and every other super-hyped MMO.

Sadly its not only SW:ToR. When GW2's closing in I can promise there will be GW2 vs The World threads. And when the next big things arive, it will repeat itself. its never ending...
I guess its because people want other people to like what they like, so they wont feel bad spending alot of money on a game. But thats just what I think, so dont bash on me now.

I concur...
Personally i couldn't care less how many subscribers SW:TOR will take from anyone, as long as they take a very proactive approach to keeping the Battlenet kiddie chat as far from the game and forums as possible.
My major complaint and why i quit playing WoW several years ago was you could not ask a question in game or on the forums without being told responses like "U go kill U'r self now" or some form of Leetspeak nonsense. When that same attitude leaked over to the guild I was in, it was time to exit stage right.
if Bioware keeps an eye on how their comminuty progresses and moderates effectively, I will be happy.
People keep making these posts for the same reason that there are bras that make breast bigger and pills the make penis bigger (supposedly). Deep down people want to feel better about the stuff they have or care about over others. Even if those things are something the world will never see or know. They want to hear it that their is bigger...I mean better.

It's WOW vs whatever mmo is new this month for the last ...6 years?...When 80 year old mmorpgers are sitting in their virtual parks playing virtual chess complaining about virtual weather being virtually bad, it will still be WOW vs whatever.
What else would they do with their lives?
The Stranger: It's what people know about themselves inside that makes 'em afraid.
To be honest with you not that much. IMO theres a completely different group of people who are interested in star wars. Bioware and star wars fans. A lot of people in swtor.com are first time MMOers who love bioware games. So i think bioware doesn't have to fight for the WoW crowd at all. They have their own fanbase.

Exactly plus some Star Wars fan's that missed the SWG ban wagon will be joining this one since MMO's have taken a more limelight stage since `04. Either way it doesn't matter how many sub's they "take" away from WoW people will play what they want to when they want to play it. It's not a WoW killer and no game will be to be labeled as such as saying a game has to make WoW have a population of ZERO! thus it being dead. EQ is still kicking and quite well, sure it's gone thru 2 server mergers but for a game going on 12 years or is it 13 now that is pretty damn great. As for the WAR and AoC comments that's a little absurd it's far more polished than either of those two game's were at this stage. I said it'd take 100k away and that's wishful thinking since I bet a lot of people will go back and play WoW and enjoy the "Panda" Expansion, I know im quite interested in checking it out myself eventually (Go Monks! I think that chuck norris commercial would've been better post MoP). In the end who gives a damn why can't we all just agree to disagree and get over this jibberish some fanbois and haters spew.
SW:TOR is taking 2 subscriptions away from WoW. That is me and my gf. That is all I care about. If people feel the same. More power to them.

I'll be glad too. Because then I don't have to browse through the most ridiculous of arguments on these forums out of sheer boredom in my waiting for SW:TOR.

Unfortunately, that will still leave us with the misinformed people who try to tear the game down by hunting every SWTOR thread and posting their opinions on why the game sucks. You know, the same folks who predict it will be F2P within 6 months. Sound like anyone you know?
The easiest way to get away from these kinds of threads is to not participate in them in the first place, Teala. Especially if you are a known hater of the game, then more than likely, you are just exacerbating the situation when you post on these threads.
Go play Skyrim. They have a "smuggle" button in that game, don't they?
Oh, and back to the original question: I'm not exactly sure how many subs TOR will take from WoW, but do not fool yourselves, it WILL be substantial. I've played WoW for over 5 years now, and I know of entire guilds that will be leaving WoW and switching to TOR. And this isn't based on hype or just the fact that it's Star Wars, these people beta'd the game and genuinely liked it enough to switch.
Now, I'm not going to make any predictions in terms of how long those players will stay with TOR, because TOR will most likely be fighting an uphill battle to keep players that left a game with 7 years of content under its belt, but believe me when I say there will be a ton of people leaving WoW to try TOR out.
Blizzard has dropped the ball big-time in terms of their content releases, and haven't added anything truly new to their endgame in ages. And the MOP expansion and dumbing down of the talent trees was a further slap in the face to many WoW players. Enough so that many of them figure that a new start in a different game is what they are looking for. I'm speaking as one of those WoW players, and I have a bunch of ex-guildmates coming with me. WoW just isn't fun anymore.
