pff another i want the old swg back its getting pretty sad nowadays. Dont get me wrong i did love swg but some ppl make it out more than it was in the end yeh it did have some nice sandbox elements tho most other stuff of the game was half done and not working like it should at all . Realy hope we dont see alot of swg vets in swtor realy dont want to see the crying all the time in general how they think that swg was so much better .
I played it from launch, but SWG was never that good really. The combat was badly done, there was never any balance and it was so bugged that whole professions were useless, none of the problems ever got fixed. They tried to make it a "sandbox" game, but ended up with a lot of content that was mediocre or broken. It also has the worst leveling/grinding experience I've ever seen in an MMORPG.
The changes they made to the game probably finished it off. But even before that it was dying and it wasn't a successful MMO considering the budget and backing it had.
LA have now given the starwars MMO licence to Bioware and I think it was a good decision, I had more fun in the beta than I ever had in 2 years playing SWG. It's nice to finally have a good quality starwars MMO, where stuff actually works as intended. After a couple of days I didn't care about what SWG had and TOR didn't.
That's the idea...What are your thoughts on how we can be more constructive in communicating with the devs, so that hopefully we can trick them into not nerfing every class into oblivion?...did I say "trick", I meant "convince them to make positive adjustments when needed"
the game is fineit doenst need saving? There going to revamp the UI which seems to be the largest complaint that and the character creator.
There also going to revamp the space flight.
There adding in more guild functionality.
So it looks like they are moving forward and progessing.
I really like the way the game is now. So any serious changes would kill it for me. So if it aint broke dont fix it.
You want SWG 2 and you seriously want to push swtor a game not designed to be anything like it that way. it will not work.
The highlighted portion is the reason for this thread. You mentioned that they are working on some positive improvements, but SERIOUS changes would kill it for you--I'm guessing that means you'd quit if they kept trying to revamp systems...especially the ones you enjoy. I don't want that to happen. I think that even if the game doesn't pull the numbers EA/LA are looking for, that they shouldn't forsake you in an attempt at bringing in other players...it's a competitive business, and the suits are always going to want growth. When they look at the feedback from those that have played, are still playing, and even those that never played, I don't want that feedback to be interpreted as "scrap all these systems your current player base enjoys, and do something else"...and even if it does overwhelmingly say that, I'd rather they hold to their vision and their current player base, and just let it be.

There's "working as intended" from a dev perspective and "working as intended" from a player perspective. When they match up it's great, but when they don't...
If a player thinks his class is underpowered because it can't do something as well as another class...is it working as intended? A dev might say yes, but the player is saying that both classes are supposed to be tanks--why is the other class so much better at it? The dev might explain that their tanking ability is best used in other types of situations. The player might then look at it like, well I don't want to play that way, and so the class I want to play is useless compared to the other class, screw it I'm gone. If that happens enough, a balancing act will probably happen, even though it's working as intended...maybe resulting in the difference between the classes becoming less obvious, when it was intended for the classes to have different strengths and weaknesses...good thing or bad thing?

Question: Being a SWG vet, how would you describe the people you came across in that game--a mix of good and bad? mostly good?..mostly bad? Most of my interactions with players of all types were good, and I wouldn't mind at all if everyone that played SWG subscribed to SWTOR.
I wouldn't say SWG was better because it's not the same type of game, but maybe I'll be able to form an opinion of which game I enjoyed more after playing SWTOR for a while...and then I'll be able to say I "enjoyed" SWTOR/SWG more. However, this is off topic, so do you have any advice to the community that you feel could benefit SWTOR?
