Guild Capital Ships

I really hope the devs work on the space combat system and further more the space travel experience, now I'm not asking for another EVE Online which would be freaking amazing if they could merge something like that but what about guilds building their own capital ships that maybe you could call down for fire support if you were in a tight jam in PVP?

 Yes to this! Would be very good for the game!

The devs have mentioned possible plans for guild ships sometime after launch.

It may never see the light of day, but rest easy in knowing that they are at least considering it.

In the current implementation you can a least take a full party with you on your ship, which is pretty cool actually.

Guild capital ships have actually been confirmed for an unspecified point after launch.

Whether you will be able to call them down though? That's unlikely.

Biowares first priority after launch is guild tools amongst other things but they do mention that alot of demand has been put up advances in guild options, couple this with the dev quotes talking about guild ships and I think we can expect this pretty quickly.

Guild ships bring..

- Awesome RP choices.

- Possible group run rails shooter missions.

- A new almost arena style play of boarding other guild ships in an attempt to take over.

- A place to display guild trophies.

Guild ships have never truely been 100% confirmed, but they've said numerous times that a number of their higher up devs really like the idea of guild ships, that they've got a lot of guild progression content coming out, and a whole other hints that pretty much all but confirm it. I think its safe to say they'll come eventually, i wouldnt be expecting them too soon though tbh.

guild ships will just make the world empty because everyone will be in their own instance.

Two interviews, on IGN and right here both give the impression that guild functions are high on Biowares to-do list. If capital ships are a part of that, I havn't the slightest idea.

no way on gods green earth do I want eve merged with this game. you really really want people to have to log on for up to 10-12 hours to get one fight, to mine for a month for a ship to have it taking out in 2 minutes after waiting 10 hours for fight.

I love eve but they are too radicaly different games and communities. leave it that way.

 

a guild capital ship is a decent idea but do you want it to have a fuction? such as guild capital ship wars? where you laucnh player manned fighters at it? have player boarding parties etc. that seems a little more interesting.

I want them to look at x-wing - tie fighter.

When referring to EVE I really was talking about the combat system, and maybe the customization but as for the guild capital ships more of a Allods affair where guilds can go to guild instances. But yes guild wars in space sounds EPIC

Ask A Jedi: At gamescom last year, you dropped a little hint about the possibility of guild capital ships. Is there any update you can give us on that?

James Ohlen: That’s definitely on the wish list! Every single one of my senior designers loves that idea. All the way back in 2006 that was brought up in design. I was the mean design manager who was like “we have to finish a game here, we can’t have ridiculous features like guild capital ships for launch!” and they would say “we can get it in!”

The community can know that almost every one of my senior designers is on the side of doing it. I’m pretty sure its eventually going to get in the game, because they’ll beat me up until I promote it to the next feature. If it’s not in for ship, it will definitely be a patch down the road.
