    To answer your title question:

Because I like depth, non grindy gameplay and PVE in my games.

no. on release i could forsee the terrible amount of grinding it would take to progress in that game. it was way to much.

Dont get me wrong, i love some grinding.. i played ffxi since na release, so i know what a real challenge and grinding is about, but lineage 2 felt infinite when it came to grinding..

swtor will be a great game.. better than lineage 2 eventually if they do a few things right.

I have honestly never understood this stance.

Have you ever played baldur's gate or neverwitner nights or diablo or dungeon siege?

    It's the same principal.

L2 is simply completely different. Sometimes you want a straight forward, kill what is in front of you, free to explore the world kind of game. L2 is good for that. It is mob grinding but sometimes that is better than quest grinding, especially if you get into a group, grind the mobs and enjoy the company in the meantime.

SWTOR on the other hand is a much more story driven experience. If you want to jump into a story, that is, an essentially intereactive movie, then SWTOR is much better. Voices, story, directed experience. Some people prefer that, or sometimes a person is otherwise simply in the mood for that.

But one in a while I just don't want to have to think though a story, or even remember it. Sometimes I just want to unwind with a beer and and a few hundred undead that need killin'. L2 is definitly much better for that.

    All die, so die well.

So like to be spoon fed, so to speak ? That is cool , I don't respect that , but if that is how you want to play your game, more power to you !

Oatmeal is best eaten with a spoon rather than one's own hands. And almond milk, whole milk isn't healthy.

As far as i remember these games are not pvp-oriented.

    1. it's not click to move I never could stand those types of games.

    2. it's not overly anime.

    3. I do not have to grind 50 billon mobs to get one level.

    4. I am not forced into pvp if I do not want to pvp.

    5. If I pk someone on a pvp server I do not suffer a penalty for doing so.

    6. Questing actually feels like it means something.

    7. No over sized weapons that are bigger than the players bodies.

    8. It's not a fantasy setting like the 1 gazillion mmos before it.

    9. No pre teen female toons with oversize boobs.

    10. Voice over just makes everything seem so much better.

    11. An MMO that has an actual story that makes sense and not just thrown together.

    12. It's not F2P I hate F2P games because in the end you, end up paying more than what you would with a sub. With all of the nickel and diming these models use. inventory cap, money cap, limited to no AH use, chat restrictions just to name a few. Not saying that these are in L2, but that has been the norm in all other F2P titles.

I am sure I could name more but I think you get the point, I would choose TOR every time over L2.

well, lineage and lineage 2 were both pvp oriented and there were no issues there.

and star craft is a lasso your men and use the mouse to point to where they should go. and that has pvp.

So people's brains shut off as soon as they have to fight another person?

I'm just going to play both atleast for the first month or so of SWTOR to see how it progresses. If I like what I see then I'll stay if not I'll just play L2.

    High Five FTW!

This is the correct answer to a very silly question.  And the thing is, this maybe covers only about half the reasons why you'd play TOR over Lineage 2.

never played baldur's gate and dungeon siege but I did play NWN and it did have wasd and worked perfectly.

click to move really takes me out of the game as it feels like I am talking into my characters ear and saying "take 5 steps to the right and then turn to the right again and take 30 paces" while in wasd I feel like I am in control of the character and its body.

This thread will be full of SWTOR fans. The community on this site is very pro-western. They think every asian game is 'made in china' and is absolute garbage and 'ZOMG THERE IZ NO FKN WAY THIS KOREAN GAME CAN BE BETTER THEN MY SWTOR LOLOLO!!!'. Sorry but its the sad truth.

As for me, I agree. I have no interest in playing any other MMO after I experienced the true L2 =)

L2 have swad too since the begining, it was just very unpopular to use it at this time, but you probably forgot mmo used to be point and click right? image

PS if i recall well its even one of the first mmo to have swad...

Fine I guess I can play the pro-western SWTOR fanboy that hates on all Korean games with his unreasonable complaints.

The controls are extremely dated. Even UO has managed to update it's controls and it's twice the age of L2. The graphics are dated beyong belief. The content was scarce and extremely basic, it was a grinder and nothing more.

If I wanted to go back to a classic I'd pick UO hands down.

Why would I play SWTOR over L2? Because it takes more than pretty colors and repetetive actions to keep me entertained.......

Though TOR for me is just a place to hang out until GW2 launches.

Wrong movemnt whit mouse was a single player topdown controll system but all games had a form of key controll , since the day of UO you could use arrows or wasd to controll movement, specialy in the early days its was even more critical to use wasd as often a game had limeted keystokes so you needed to move whit the keys and lets say use a potion from youre invertory.

its a stupit point anyway for anyone to discuss, l2 is  a ok game for those who love its gameplay style. sw:tor is a compleetly dferent game.   each there own fun, stop judging others ..

Then I came back the next day and started to fiddle with the click to walk , and I was getting the hang of it, then it started to feel right to. I get so tired of the console control pvp bull shit. Jumping around , bunny hopping ect . I like the old style better, where to people stand toe to toe and blast each other into hell, Shadowbane was like that , and Lineage 2 is like that,

This kind of game play is not for everyone, but I really needed Lineage 2 to wake me up out of my SwToR coma, Watching the amazing art style of this game and all of the time and energy ncsoft has put into the game has made me a huge fan once again, I really can't see hwo anyone would bother with a P2P game when they could play one of the classics in mmo history for free.

Anyone else kind get woken up again in Lineage 2 ?

Was this a joke? Botting gear grind and popping potions, fun. This game may have been good 7 years ago, but really?
