Only one more wave???

Really? It's 12:06 CST and theres only one more wave to go out today? When you have 106 mostly medium to low pop servers? Really? Gotta say thats a little disappointing. This is the first time Bioware made me /sadface

Maybe the next is more like a tsunami than a wave.

One could hope... I don't even care if I get in... but if I'm going to wait I atleast want to see their servers all full so I understand even if I were in I would be waiting.

Maybe they intend to fill 'em up tomorrow and just stage it like they intended to do?

People in USA are just going to be returning from their work and starting to play. Even if they did not do any more waves, the population of USA servers would increase.

I'd imagine they're waiting to see what happens when peak hours hit in Europe then North America, after that they'll make a decision on more waves or not.

Well the thing is the servers that say "Full" aren't full assuming these servers work like every other MMO. It just means the tutorial planets are at capacity. Meaning as people level they will no longer be "Full". I could be wrong they could have 200-300 player limits on servers or something under 1000 at best but I doubt it. I'm confident it's just built the way other MMO's did it like Rift.

The whole "stick and carrot" marketing move of talking people into pre-ordering early is ridiculous.  Those of us who opted to learn more about the game before we blindly handed our money over to Lucas and Bioware are forced to wait, while mouth-breathing fanboys are rewarded with extra play time.  Sounds about right for a modern corporation.

I also don't like this 'second class citizen" BS with the Collectors Edition.  It's one thing to shell out $150 and get some in-game extras, and a cool box filled with collectables.  It's entirely another thing to create an exclusive VIP section and VIP vendor  permanently in the game.

I don't like this new trend at all, but I suppose it fits well with the current state of real-world society and politics.

A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.

Keep in mind a lot of people who pre-ordered have jobs. We can't drop everything to play a game just because of Early Access. This evening I expect the servers to become pretty full.

  • AfterlifeAfterlife Member UncommonPosts: 256

The whole "medium", "low", "full" thing is arbitrary. For all we know the people they invited in so far stressed the servers out to where they actually are at capacity and now have to tweak their meter to reflect that.

Or, you know, they just want to rub it in the people's face that are looking in from the outside.

Please stop this high & mighty job reply... everyone has a job but like 8.5% americans and most of those people most likely don't play MMO's. So please stop that crap....

I kind of agree with you, insofar as early access goes. I don't like the idea of being penalized (after a fashion) for waiting to make an informed decision about wether or not I wanted to spend $85 on the game instead of jumping on it like a b*tch in heat the moment preorders were available.

The VIP thing doesn't really bother me though. It's probably just a vendor selling a bunch of gimmicky crap anyway.

Some one posted a while back that things seemed pretty empty. Of course this is the interwebz so could be utter doodoo. They do have some sort of dynamic channeling/instancing system I hear.

I swear we are living in the most whiny generation in the history of mankind! You people will never accept any responsibility  for anything you do and you will complain about anything. So you wanted to wait before pre ordering. Great! Thousands of peopple like me ordered within minutes of the game being available. You think you deserve to get into the game early just like the people who ordered months before you? You seem to think you should get equal consideration even though you ordered after millions of people.Amazing.

Now he's whining like a little girl... and of course I'm txting him every 10mins asking if he's got the email... reminds me of a Tshirt I own that says "Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional..."

Yeah, it's a shame you aren't entitled to video games. Yet. Maybe soon the 1 percenters will have to pay your way there too.

I own my own successful tech business.  I'm not hurting for funds.  This doesn't mean I want these games to start adding an "economic class system" on top of their character class systems.  It has nothing to do with entitlement and everything to do with greed and exploitation.

Incidentally, I support the OWS movement, because I see our greedy society as a failed one that is circling the drain.  You keep holding on to the old way of thinking, and you will be swept away with the coming paradigm shift.

I'm slightly confused, they have 100-ish servers. like 70+% are currently "Full" and they have gained access to 5 waves. who pre-ordered the game sometime in july, right? How'd they expect rest of of us who want to play to fit on a server, if they have almost already filled all servers, By ppl who pre-ordered in july?

Is it like 500 pop limit per server or what?

    someone who can enlighten me?

I fail to see what anything I said has to do with whining.  I'm not even planning to play the game this week as I don't have time, so that shoots your whole theory down right there.  Bioware is more than welcome to add a financial class system based on how much money people spend on their game if they want, and I'm welcomed to my opinion on such a matter.  Nothing to do with whining at all.  In fact, I'm quite certain you are the one whining here.

And speaking of responsibility, I see my decision to wait to learn more about the game before I dropped the cash on it to be far more responsible than buying the game a year or six months early before I knew much about it.  People on this site whine about "getting burned" by game purchases all the time.  I don't get burned.   I make all of my buying decisions with prior due diligence, not knee-jerk buying when I see something shiny.

I assume the starter areas have a set capacity and due to this being a story game it's taking a bit longer for people to get through the start zones. Games like Rift utilized this zone by zone and on launch when too many players were within a starter area the login would say full. If this is not the case statistics say 277k pre-ordered in July... or something like that so that means they'll need like 500 servers for US alone... rofl...

They got more servers for one. But the current servers might also fit like 4-5 times as many as are in right now, it's just that the starting areas are "full" whilst the other parts of the content doesnt have that many players yet. So as people level up and move to other areas the servers might be going down to medium or even low again.

Did you see the starting areas?  They are tiny, and instanced.  At any given time you may see a maximum of about 10 people in any given space.  That was my experience during both large beta weekends.  My guess is that they can only fit so many people into the starting areas, and then they can only spawn so many instances of those areas to handle the players.

Personally I found the starting areas clear up to level 10 to be small, on-rails, and boring.  I'm giving the game a try to see how it plays out in higher levels before I make the decision to play it a while or delete it.
