Can we get a more definitive anwer to that last poll question?
It must really burn your breaches that I am here on a gaming websites forums discussing...wait for it..."MMO's". Sorry if that isn't to your liking, but this website is here to discuss MMO's and that doesn't mean we're forced to discuss only the ones we're interested in or the ones we have issues with, but all MMO's. SW:ToR fits into the catagory...until then I'll talk, discuss and debate the nature, the issues and things related to these games. I do not require your permission, nor your approval. If you do not like what I have to say, you are free to put me on ignore. There you go. Oh and have a nice day.
One last thing Icewhite...you need to lighten up.
Here's the thing though... you're not really discussing. You're baiting people with negative threads, just to get the community riled up.
And why?
Sure you're allowed to. Sure it's your right to blog/discuss whatever you want to...
But why?
If you really dislike the game as much as you do, why bother starting threads about it? Because you need to see other people agree with your point of view, for some sort of validation that your opinion is valid? There are plenty of MMO's that I dislike - but I don't give a rat's ass about any of them, and don't lose a wink of sleep over them... and don't bother posting about them...
And the funniest thing is - these boards are absolutely full of haters, which lends the impression that people hate the game. But they don't. People hate on WoW here too... and they have 10 million active subscribers. So if you actually DO feel some form of validation from the people "agreeing" with your negative posts here, just remember that for every 1 person who agrees with you there are probably 100,000 busy playing the game, not even aware that these forums exist.
Officially yes, but in reality the second they opened their servers for service the game launched.
the facts are that official release is the 20th and early access is the 13th. It's manipulation of the wording that makes people think of you in the way that you wrote in your blog. I hate people who are manipulators.
Kyleran: "Now there's the real trick, learning to accept and enjoy a game for what
it offers rather than pass on what might be a great playing experience
because it lacks a few features you prefer."
John Henry Newman: "A man would do nothing if he waited until he could do it so well that no one could find fault."
FreddyNoNose: "A good game needs no defense; a bad game has no defense." "Easily digested content is just as easily forgotten."
LacedOpium: "So the question that begs to be asked is, if you are not interested in
the game mechanics that define the MMORPG genre, then why are you
playing an MMORPG?"
Game opened for headstart, I can't buy the game, it has not been released for retail, which is what launch is.
Next...
Oh wait...you can still pre-order, download the client and hope to get in before the 20th. SW:ToR Pre-Order Front Page of Game. Game might not have "officially" launched, but it has launched and people are playing. As soon as the servers went live it launched. Spin it all you want...but the game is open and providing service.
A pre-order is not a retail copy... You said it yourself, this is not the offcial launch, a launched game is a game that I can go buy install and play. Only then will the true launch test begin.
And spin, really? WHo's trying to spin what a released game is? You are playing headstart almost all MMO's have had that, I'm using the terms applied you're trying to move the goal posts.
A "launch" just signifies the start of something. In this case, it is very is valid to see the start of something that won't have character deletion as a launch of interest. Is the official retail launch of interest as well? Yes, I think so, but so is the launch of servers where the characters won't be deleted.

So again, why bother?
Good point , but u know what , this is MMORPG , haters paradise.
First few days were great then the flood came and it got pretty bad. Today (Sunday) I don't know it they increased pops or maybe people have given up or SWTOR folks are especially pious or big football fans (that seems unlikely honestly) the ques are MUCH better and no disconnects thus far. Maybe they are dialing it up enough to satisfy the masses, but honestly it remains unseen because the REAL rush is not yet upon us.
The good? One niggly little detail, my Chiss bounty hunter's hands being 'human' colored... already fixed within 2 days. So it will eventually shake out, but the launch is not going quite as well as the fanboys are saying it is overall, but it's getting harder to say otherwise because of the drown out factor and the official forums mods getting delete happy. The over 100 page thread they tried to herd everyone on to (by deleting every other thread about it) mysteriously vanished. Totally sounds like a play from SOE to me honestly.
Played: Asheron's Call(still the best fantasy MMO!), EQ1, EQ2, Vanguard, DAoC, Horizons, City of Heroes/Villians, WoW (crap), LOTORO, D&D Online, Eve, Anarchy Online, and still playing SWG daily.
