Hi!
I don't know if you heard about this game, but for all those UO vet & lovers or for people who's been looking for sandboxes and something else than freakin' themeparks : this game is for you.
I've been reading and watching stuff about it a lot lately and I sent an application for the closed beta that I hope to receive very soon (if anybody could send me a code, please pm me!) I must say that I'm quite excited, after the disapointment that Darkfall has been for me (I had great hopes in a UO/Elder Scrolls-alike MMORPG but Aventurine seems to don't give a damn about the game, and the UI is AWFUL, etc) LinkRealms seem to have a lots of possibilites to give to the player.
I invite those who tried the game to jump in the thread and say what they think of it, I'll update the thread with my experiences if I get into the beta as well.
For those interested: here's the link to the website: https://www.linkrealms.com/
Thanks and I hope to hear some feedback!

I got into beta! :-)
Isn't that the game that has an ingame store with insane prices? I'm talking several hundred bucks
I will never understand how isometric is enjoyable. Seems to ruin the immersion or is it just me?
Thanks for the heads up, I'll go check it out. However, it doesn't LOOK sandbox to me from just what I've seen !

@DreamsofWar
You may be too young to have played games like this in the past. Just a thought my friend !
It seems to me, at least anyways, that people whom enjoy games like this don't care mcuh for the graphics as a whole as long as the art style isn't catered towards CHILDREN (ala: WoW, Rift, SWTOR, etc). Gameplay matters more to most gamers that are looking for depth & freedom !

No this game does not have insane prices. The highest priced item would be if you want to own a realm (which is a very unique feature), is $10 a month. Everything else is not required in order to play the game. This is a great game. I spent a long time trying to find a game that breaks the themepark mold. This is one of those few. It will grow in popularity once it's out of beta, because very few know about it currently.
Thanks for the link. I remember seeing some of this game a long time ago, but forgot about it soon after. It looks like it could be fun.
Enter a whole new realm of challenge and adventure.
Its true my era is WoW and co, and i am spoiled by 3D graphics so a transition towards isometric would be difficult for me.
However, if the depth is there and the gameplay is good then i would definately give it a try.
Looks interesting, thanks for the link OP.
Bookmarked it, gonna try to get into the beta, play it for a while and if I like it, turn into a bittervet who knows everything better than the developer and doesn't hesitate to announce that as often as their forum banning procedure allows.
Isn't that the standard defense of all F2P fanboys? "It isn't required" or "Don't play it then"?
Sure it's required if you want to experience the full features of the game. I'm curious. What are the prices on those items that "isn't required"
Isometric is actually more immersive to me than 3D. Why? I don't know. It just is.
I've been interested for awhile, if anyone currently in beta can send me an invite I'll check it out.
Hey!
Just wanted to say that I've been hooked by the game since yesterday. Really this is awesome, finally something to take me away from themeparks for awhile.
The game is very solid, the graphics, animations and effects are awesome. You never would'nt had thought a game made by indie developers would had been of such quality!
If anybody wants me to send a code to them, just send me a PM and I'll invite you for sure. I'm also very happy to see that there's a LOT of people who joined me into the game yesterday after having read my thread here. This is awesome!
The community is super active and friendly, developers are online talking, helping and playing with us. Really for those who has been looking for something special for a while, come and try it!
Yes it's free-to-play, yes there is grind like in any other game, but this is really worth it! The skill-based system is really really good, I've been experiencing a lots of possibilities so far and those are very enjoyable.
As for the isometric point-of-view, I always thought that it was more immersive than the 3rd person, or 1st person, I just don't know why, I like the way you can see everywhere around you at all time. This is really important since you can easily die at the begining.
This game isn't for themepark kids, this game is hard and ruthless : so finally, it is AWESOME.
Finally, for those who said thanks to me: you're all welcome!

I have made an account and I am now trying to get into the beta. What have you done to me.
Glad that I made you feel like trying the game! If you need an access code, just pm me ;-)
[edit: Oops, just saw that you already pm'ed me hehe ]

I started about 6 month's ago had alot of fun for awhile, stopped playing because as the game was still growing I had done mostly everything and was getting reptitive, however i check back occasionally.
nice game for a distraction, the dev is pretty involved with the community

I'm having a ton of fun with this game. Lots of content, plenty to do, simple graphics but with a rich colour palette. Animations are everywhere and there's a LOT of them, the entire world is fluid and never static.
I just joined and the first thing that happened was two GMs and a DEV warped in to welcome me, haha, wow.
Game sports a pet system which made me remember Molyneux' Black and White. I got unlucky and got a rebellious pet chicken who I must now train, reward, and scold, to morph into a deadly spellcasting monstrosity. Amazing.
Feels like an improved version of Ultima with several added nifty features, and updated with all the standard improvements to the RPG genre the past decade.
The game client is only about 150mb, which is -tiny- by today's standards. I'd at least give this game a try if nothing else.
Other than the isometric view and the fact that you can smack monsters with swords, I couldn't find much similar between this and UO. It was more like Diablo with a lot of expensive stuff that you can buy.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein

It's isometric, I would be surprised if it wasn't click to move.
EDIT: Correction, it's hold - mouse - button to move. Because that's apparently somehow not click to move.
UO wasn't.

My first day of LinkRealms. Hmm. Got the beta invite. Happiness. Registered an account, more happiness.
Never getting the activation mail. After three hours, I attempt to contact support. Find out that there's no real support mail, only a general one (I've emailed it - no answer yet, but it's only been a few hours and it's christmas, alright). So I try to create a forum account to reach a dev or anyone. Also never getting the activation mail. Can't post as guest, can't see the devs mail because guests can't view his profile. Contacting support seems impossible now.
Alright. So I tried to register another game account, out of desperation.
"Your IP address has been used recently to register an account. Please wait 24 hours before registering again, or contactt he Admins via the forum"
Loving the concept and I'm really looking forward to seeing that gnome king that rides on that giant ant-eater, but so far I'm not convinced. :P
Can anyone with a forum or game account there please contact the devs and tell them that the activation mails aren't being sent?
I'll send the Lead Developer an email & let him know validation email system is down.

I never liked it, mainly because PVP in isometric games is a war of who shows up on the screen corner first so I can precast.
