Reading so many complains and issues from players on these forums I can't help but wonder if they've missed something. They've added SO MUCH to this game already and have left doors waiting to be opened to new and improved content that everyone is asking for.
1) Legacy Levels. Like to play alts? They ALREADY have a system in place so all your characters will share a common exp/bonus system. No, it isn't completed yet, but you can earn levels for it while you wait for the patch.
2) Personal Ship. Notice when you zone into the "trooper" hanger that your ship takes a second to load. I wouldn't be suprised if they (at some point) allow you to upgrade or replace your ship. Appearance/function/whatever. They haven't locked you down to hard-coded ship.
3) Companions. They have the easy ability to add as many new companions to the game as you could ever hope for. While I don't think having 50 companions would be terribly fun for anyone. The option is still there.
4) Appearance Items? Yup... They've built the ability to use just about any look of armor you want into the game. You can take some armor you found at level 10 and have it be top notch at level 50.
5) Flying "mounts" ? Not in game currently, but from what I can tell nothing should be stopping them. It looks like every zone has been designed so that flying mounts will be possible. Could be wrong, but it looks a lot more likely than it would have in WoW 1.0 with how they designed the zones.
The minor point i'm trying to make is that the game feels complete, with lots of options for expansions. They won't have to completely revamp anything to add what most players complain about.
Many of the space related complains (aside from being on raids) sound like players who should be in EvE rather than a Mass Effect / WoW style world.

Is this in the game already?
I was trying to find out how to do that in beta.
What would we have missed? You mention one feature that has a placeholder in game, but no actual functionality; there are very, very few armor items that are modifiable, so no, it's not likely at all that you will be updating a peice of armor you found at level 10; and the rest is complete speculation on your part.
Sadly, experience tells me that of all the obvious additional features one can easily imagine MMO developers might want to quickly add to their games, very few fan based dreams ever actually make it into the game, at least not until a major expansion.

You can take the orange armor pieces and mod them with stats to you Liking
It is, but not Every item in the game is moddable. There's a good number of them though and most Flashpoint gear is moddable. Personally I love it! It's a great system. Could do with a few more moddable items, but in general, it's as fun as it is effective in keeping the looks you want.
There are some items, they all have their item names in Orange, that you can modify. My Jedi Sentinel has the patterns for a few tops and leg peices. You can also get a couple peices at level 20 via PVP that can be modified in that way. Those peices can indeed be kept current as you level, (well, at least as far as we can tell. It's possible some high level gear will have bonus stats on top of the mod slots, or additional slots). However, we are talking about very few looks and they take some effort/expense to obtain.
It's far from the point of being able to have any class appropriate look you want in modifiable form.

Actually I have played a few characters during the pre release and have found quite a few items to upgrade. Many of the heroic mission rewards give you customizable armor, you can buy customizable weapons and such with commendation medals as well. The opportunity is there if you wish to pursue it. I found a a dark colored robe for my dark side sage and have been modding it ever since.
There are thousands of orange items that can be modded, you just haven't seen many is all.
ehh that kinda sucks..
As a trooper in beta weekend,I got a blue drop chest piece that actually _looked_ like heavy armor,it had metal plating and the like.I wanted to keep wearing it over the white sweater looking one you could buy with those token commendations or whatever.
They should let you mod all armor imo..
1-surname. whoopee.
2-pure conjecture on your part, they have never mentioned anything about this.
3-so what? still will only fill one of the 'trinity' spots. and there will always be a 'cool' companion 90% of people will use.
4-'just about any armor' amounts to about 10% of the items ive seen. fun system, needs to be expanded to include many more looks.
5-with the amount of wall offed areas in each zone (invisible or otherwise), i would say there is plenty stopping them from adding flying mounts
im playing and greatly enjoying the game, but they could surely do complete revamps of certain areas of gameplay, and it would be for the better.
They said they weren't going to make these easy to obtain, and reiterated it will be costly to maintain these items.
Didn't they also say a while back there would also be an appearance tab evetually? Could have sworn there was a thread on this not long ago.

Not sure on the appearance tab but i've literally got a bank full of different moddable oranges i've gotten via crafting, quests and PvP.
actually i am a lvl 28 jedi sentinel.
i currently own 7 diffrent orange chestspieces wich are moddable (and sold 2 or 3 i think) also leggings and i think boots. oh yeah both my lightsabers are orange asswel (+ the two i have in my bank). all modable.
its not that costly you can simple just yank out your mods for a few credits (depends on how good the mod is) and put it in the armor you want.
I wore the level 20 pvp set all the way up to 40, when I changed it for level 40 pvp set. I'm 400 Cybertech so I craft my own mods. Been upgrading my own stuff since 20 to keep it viable. If you mod stuff well it's actually better then most if not all the quest rewards you'll get. I only got the level 40 PvP helmet, gloves, boots, pants, belt. I like the chest I had found around level 30 or so. Think it was quest reward. So I ripped the mods from my PvP armor and put it in new chest. So I gave the level 20 PvP chest to my companion Elara. Crafted mods for it for her from scratch. (She's been wearing that for about a good 15 now) Have to say I like the modding system.
In War - Victory.
In Peace - Vigilance.
In Death - Sacrifice.
I think the point of the Op was: this is a kickass game that's only gonna get better with time. I love it.
Lost me at flying mounts. Hate the idea.

My mount flies in TOR. About 3 feet off the ground.
I hope they never do. That honestly is one reason WoW open world PvP sucks.
Yup im loving it altho it has a few flaws.
LFG system i mean comeon...... they should make the system like the old wow system and we be happy.
guild tab is bugging abit.
i cant /who a person by shift+ right clicking him. this is a tiny thing but i wants it XD
further well i havnt come accros alot with iritates the hell out of me:P
I guess they could mean at higher levels, that or they decided to backtrack on those statements due to feedback.
here's a link about the appearance tab from back in Nov... http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/setView/news/gameId/367/showArticle/22525
"During the Q&A, it appears James confirmed that coveted appearance tab would now be a reality."

+1
And the reason it looks finished is because it is. Heck, from what I saw in beta, it could have easily been released in October. Many other moneygrubbers (I won't name names or bring Robert E Howard into this) would have released 6 months ago.

they used to have this GREAT feature called "match to chest" what this did was match the color scheme of your chestpiece to the rest of your gear.. It was such a great feature and got rave reviews during beta. and they removed it...

Iam so much enjoying general chat spammed every 2 seconds with LFG sooo much better than a lfg tool.. also why the hell cant you just turn on names for just your party? sorry this one really bugs me as I hate having text names over everyones head but like to for just my group especially when doing heroic areas...

It's coming back...seemingly anyway...

Please no.
I'm a rabid mount supporter and love mounts in games, I like to ride bikes, creatures etc. It's fun. But please dear god no flying mounts, it kills world PvP and takes away the "trip" - it basically takes away everything between point A and B. WoW is the only mmorpg that I have played that has non restricted flying mounts and it's a horrible way to let people travel, almost as bad as letting people just teleport to places.
Anyway, I'm enjoying the game and dont need anyone to convince me to, and I dont care about anyone who tries to tell me it would be somehow important to stop liking the game or some other weird crap.
Bioware just needs badly to add mid level new planets to the game before people start rolling alts, there's really only one path to level for every class per faction currently, and I'd like to take some other turns in my leveling journey with an alt on the same faction as the main. One extra char I can propably level up with no problems because of the different main story, but on the third the same planets will begin to look a bit boring
They have a great system to expand mid levels since they dont need to squeeze in new areas into existing zones like in games with tightknit world / world map, just drop in completely new planets around lvl's 20, 30, 40 etc.
^ This.
I'm all for games having potential to improve, but you also have to realize that 'having potential' can also be nothing more than a nice way of saying 'lacking'.
The game is new, it's shiny, and people are enjoying it. However, there are a lot of issues with it (that many players seem to have blinders on for), so depending on which they choose to focus on first, could effect how the game plays out quite a lot.
yea I was part of that thread on the official forums and there joke of an excuse to remove it was because so many of there armor pieces are just recolors of the same exact model it takes away from feeling of progression and acomplishment for getting a new piece of gear.. such a crock since it was a SELECTABLE feature...anyway
