Do you feel strongly positive about SWTOR?

Are you excited about this game? Does it make you love to think of nothing else but this game every day? Just some examples. Post what you think you feel! Can be totally illogical if you want it to be.

I wish I could deliver the same as I do like with Skyrim, but I don't have this game yet. Also, right now I feel mediocre towards SW:TOR. Nothing I have seen about the game has made me feel very strongly about this game, so maybe there are those who have.

    Obviously a lot do.

The difficult part about explaining it, is that it doesn't necessarily translate universally.  So what they might be loving about the game, others do not value -- just as what others might see as larger issues, they see as trivial issues.

It's still vitally important for me to hear what others say is why they feel strongly about the game so that I can have it too. That's the fun of this thread. Logic doesn't work here. It's all fuzzy feelings. Welcome to Alice in Wonderland! I'm the Mad Hatter!

A lot of people seem to bring up Skyrim when they are talking about ToR . The problem although they both rpgs the are two completly different beasts . An mmo with graphics on a par with Skyrim would be pretty much unplayable to people with an average PC . Also in the mmo genre its going to be very difficult to get away from the traditional gameplay . I agree with those that say theres more need for innovation in mmos but the trouble is people also like familiarity . So your more likly to simply get gradual evolution of the genre rather than massive leaps forward . I feel more possative about ToR than I do about most mmos . In fact I feel about as possative about it as I did WoW when I first played it 7 years ago . Actually I was quite lukewarm to WoW and cancelled after the first month only to return about 4 months later to give it another try . Once I'd leveled from 26 to the mid 40s in that second month after returning I saw what the fuss was about . With any mmo you have to play it a bit , level up a bit and get to know people . Having said that what I'm seeing in ToR leads me to believe it has massive potential and I'm finding it a lot of fun . But I didn't go into it expecting it to be radically different to what has gone before . I 'd love to see an mmo similar to Skyrim but I'm not sure if it would be feasable at the moment .

Let me put it this way:  This is the most excited about playing an MMO that I have ever been.  Enough to where it saddens me that in all likelihood, I won't get to play tonight, as I have to go get my preorder, enter it, and wait in the queue.  I'm told it's been a wait all day, and I won't even be ready til prime time.  Fat chance....

I would say that i was resonably positive.

By that I don't have any unrealistic expectations but still I'm having a blast, even if I don't like some of the things in the game.

Having said that, I put off playing Skyrim to play SWToR last Saturday and Sunday and put in quite a few hours. Went to bed very late on Sunday.

So yeah, I don't feel like logging into other games at the moment and I'm enjoying myself quite a bit.

I'd think you'd get a few more unbiased reviews had it been in a neutral forum, though I could be severely wrong.

I don't feel that much postive about the game after OB, but it's all in what you like. If you like a story focused MMORPG, you should love leveling from 1-50 not in a really fast rate but it'd take a week if your consistant. Then just like everyother MMORPG currently out, if you like what they had and would love to do it a lot, then you'll like this game.

Huttball is a pvp sport in a way, if you like how it functions you'll like this game, as well as 50v50 pvp not truely epic and out there IMO but if it's you, then you'll like it. Combat is better than Rift's IMO far as animations, it's not as visual but on a WoW type feel, you might have times were you feel your on auto attack, it's very static honestly but shouldn't hinder you.

Some side things to think about is like chance of getting kicked from some PUBs if you like being in a rush or wathing cutscenes but doesn't happen often best to do with a Guild with same taste or some trustworthy friends.

PvP you have chance of getting ganked though it's not really cool IMO, I'd prefer skill but if you like that style you'll like it.

Stuff may feel linear least it did to me but others had different opinions, though it is a fact that it lacks in immersion far as NPCs which isn't a big deal to many.

Umm if any would like to prove what I said wrong feel free, post videos and what not.

Here is a little show of up to date gameplay but this is just one class there are more videos as well.

I love an MMO again. It's been a long time since I've lost sleep to any game, mmo or otherwise, but this one has me up all night

At one point I was really looking forward to it, Bioware could do no wrong in my mind...Then I got a chance to play it, and my impression changed dramatically. The game reminds me of every reason I've quit all my old MMOs. The rat in a maze feel was very obvious to me.

I'm neautral to ToR, though it has fun aspects and a refreshing scifi feel,it's your standard fare MMO of the passed decade.Like Rift it uses mainly one feature to try and mask that,in this case vo's

I'm neutral at the moment.  I'm more sandbox than themepark type of player, but accepting SWTOR for the type of game that it is, I think it is exceptionally well done.

I'm curious to see how the game evolves over time.  So many possibilities.

I am liking this game so much! I have been looking for a game like this since I first started playing MMO's. I cannot wait to log in for the day and I am very please with all classes that I have tried so far.

With all of that being said, I can tell you that I was a SWTOR hater before the beta. I read so many negative things about the game and I bought into all of it before I tried it myself. Here are the things I like and dislike about it:

    Likes

    1. The story of each class is very immersive and well done.

    2. The crafting is fun even though I thought I would hate it. You will see this also in my dislike list.

    3. Gearing your companions is really nice.

    4. Flashpoints are amazing.

    5. Community on my server is really good.

    6. Owning your own ship is nice.

    7. It's Star Wars and Bioware.

    Dislikes

    1. Crafting could be better.

    2. Space content feels like an arcane game to me.

    3. The CE was a letdown for me.

    4. I am having green beams of light in some areas but I hear that a graphics fix is on the way.

    5. I am not having long queues, but most folks are.

    6. All of my friends are playing Republic  :(

I am confident that Bioware will make this game even more amazing than it is now. People just need to give it time.

Yes, yes I do.  And it feels so strange to post  this....

  • DerrosDerros Member UncommonPosts: 1,216

Yes, and I know the queues are only a temporary situation.  Things always even out in time.

Most fun ever?  Nope, that's gone years ago, that "new shiny" won't ever be back again.

Fun enough to entertain me?  Yep, it surely is.

I feel strongly positive about SWTOR for the following reasons:

    1. For once, I don't feel like I'm grinding. The way the story is presented draws me in and I never feel like I'm just grinding quests like I do in other MMORPGs. I have just felt like I'm playing the game and have been enjoying every minute of it so far. It has been ages since I've felt that in an MMO.

    2. The grouping is done really well. I have played all the way through with a good friend of mine and the whole social point system has been a good incentive to keep doing it this way. The frequent heroic quests and excellent flashpoints have kept us playing with others more often than not.

    3. Its Star Wars. Even better, its the OLD REPUBLIC. KOTOR is one of my favorite single-player RPGs of all time. If not my number one.

    4. Its Bioware. One of my favorite game companies of all time. The way they present storytelling in their games has always been a big plus to me. This game feels like one of their RPGs fused with a very well done MMO.

    5. Many of my friends are playing. I have not been able to get so many of my old gamer friends playing the same MMO since vanilla WOW. This element always has a big positive impact on my gaming experience.

Sure, a lot do, but you have to remember why.  Most people love the SW lore so much that they would buy the game and play it regardless of how good it might be.  If you replaced the lore of this game with something completely new, I'm pretty sure the game would fail.

I was in the beta, and I wasn't that impressed.  There's certain things I liked, but more more I didn't, so I'm not going to buy it.

That would certainly depend on the story it was replaced with. You're basically saying only SW or Bioware can offer a compelling story oriented experience.

  • Like everyone else I'm really loving it. I was sceptic prior to getting my hands on it, but it's just great with an MMO that really puts emphasis on grouping and being social. But what really makes the game shine is the smooth and fluid combat.

My wife and I are very satisfied with this game. We hate logging off. I enjoy the feel and pace of the questing. The graphics are easy on the eyes. I like learning about quest backstories amd lore through voice overs. And its a lot of fun doing group conversations and laughing at goofy voices and responses. The companion and crafting systems feel like a real part of the overall game design and they have quite a bit of depth and are very addicting. The space missions remind me of rez and panzer dragoon which holds a special place in my gaming history. Warzones are ok. Cant wait for ilum. The sound effects and music are fantastic. Armor models even at early levels have been very stylish.

Posting from my phone. Sorry if this was a wall of text. This game as an entire package is top notch. It has a very broad base to build upon and i cant wait to see it develop over the years.

I sit on a man's back, choking him and making him carry me, and yet assure myself and others that I am very sorry for him and wish to ease his lot by all possible means - except by getting off his back.

  • I did 2 months of beta and when I was done, I went to gamestop and cancelled my preorder.   The main story is cool but by level 10 i was bored of the story.  I hate seeing quest hubs with multiple quest.  I would do the math in my head.

6 side quest x 2 minute video telling you to kill 10 womprats = 12 minutes of doing nothing.

I found the combat boring and was unhappy playing.  I rerolled every class but found the same level of boring accross the board.  The KOTOR formula didnt work in MMO format.

Oh and I hate the graphics.

I have performence issues expecially indoors. It's just annoying me extreamly. Beside that it's a nice game and should give me a couple of hours of entertainment.

I am very interested in playing SWTOR, but I probably won't start it till February or March at the soonest -- I simply do not like dealing with "new game furor" and I am perfectly content to wait till (1) the box price drops, (2) server populations thin out or at least spread out more, (3) game glitches get resolved, and (4) the queues go away.

In the meantime I am quite content ... in Azeroth.

See this I do not agree with.   Skyrim has sold over 10 million copies and still it is still going strong.   I know all those sales were not console sales, I mean we know that on steam Skyrim shattered all records of previous games.   I think you are sadly mistaken.   With the prices of a decent graphics card being under $100 these days I think many peoples gaming rigs could handle better graphics if the graphics engine they use is optimized to its fullest.    Skyrims graphics are good right out of the box.    If you never run any of the high texture mods it really doesn't take away from the game.  The game is gorgeous as is.

I mean look at this, this was taken of my Khajiit character, no mods...just what the game came with.
