You can tell the games gone live

Because the number of possitive threads has gone down and now we have all the negative ones to deal with as everyone who wanted to play the game is currently doing so. Unless they are in queue :P

Seriously though why do people feel the need to open a new thread with the same compliant that 20 other people decided to make a new thread with?

It's sadly the "Look at me, Look at me" mentality of society now. Why do something constuctive when you can bitch that something isn't "MY WAY"? No one wants anyone to be happy unless they are. It's quite sad that even this site shows how far society has slipped as a whole.

These forums have always been like this for every single game release so I wouldnt worry too much about it.

Oh lol, I know, I get a chuckle out of it. Been a lurker for a long time here. It just seems to be getting worse.

I,m also doing the same as you, in my office, and it is horribly slow this time of year. Yes, I will be playing TOR when I get home, or Skyrim. Love them both.

Sadly the forum 'vocal' community is now filled with people who have this "I don't like the game, therefore it's crap, therefore no-one should play" ... and then when people stand up for that game they get very abusive and upset.

There are a ton of games I don't like or play, but that doesn't make them bad or their players idiots in any way. As an MMO community we should be far more united to try and drive developement and show support new games. By doing this we might just encourage the developer of our dream game to actually go head and work on it.

I am not sure about TOR, I might get it, I might not ... but whatever I do, I hope that those who do find a ton of fun there.

Yeah I remember the Rift release as well, another good game with a smooth release. I played that one up until about a month ago waiting for this game to release. I also remember the negativity for that launch too and it's why I commented on this release. Some people you just can't please not matter what. Whatever, I'm enjoying the game and can't wait till I'm off work tonight to get back into it.

There are a lot of SWG Refugees on here who will not like the game just because it's not SWG with better graphics and a lot of them are still bitter over what happened that game.

I'm a PRE-NGE SWG player aswell but I've said my goodbyes to the game that claimed 4 years of my life. TOR is not SWG but it is good and I'm currently enjoying it.

I agree it is disheartening to only see negative posts about a game your playing and that is why I usually avoid the forums for any game I'm playing and make my own decisions.

I agree with you. It's a GAME, that's it. It's something I enjoy doing, it is in no way a serious part of my life. It oddly seems alot of people find a game and make it their "reality". Has anyone else seen this? I know a few folks(I'm nearing 40), close to my age, who live and breathe these MMO's or online parts of console games. They talk about it as if it is more important than actual reality. Go to work, go home and live in a make believe world. When someone becomes that involved with a game, there is a serious problem. Seeing how passionate people are about things on this site, I am starting to wonder if alot of these people are that way. It's a game folks, like it or not, it's just a game. Real life isn't all that bad.

I have seen that too, quite a few times, from two age bands, the 40-somethings and the early twenties.

It shows the horribly addictive power of MMOs and how consuming they can be. For me now (in my early 40s) with three young children I simply dont have the time to sink into a game to get hooked.

One person here ripped into me for not being into PVP anymore and subjected me to a huge character assasination becuase of this. I ended pointing out I have three children under the age of 5, two of them being twin boys, and there was enough PVP in my real life to stop me wanting to PVP online too ...

Anyway, back to topic, there are so many games out there for people to choose from and get into, lets hope people begin to realise that their game migt not be someone else's etc and not take it personally

The irony of your OP is strong, a quick search will show you are not the first to create a thread with this complaint.  (you might be number 23 in fact)

And as others have mentioned, many visitors to MMORPG.com are bored for one reason or another, so a bit of forum PVP is enjoyable and even relaxing at times.

Sure, it can get repetitive, but then again no more so than running your 385th Warsong Gultch match in WOW or other favorite theme park style MMORPG.

Myself, the gaming gods hate me this morning, I'm off of work and not one, but both of my current MMO's (L2 and EQ2) are down for maintenance, so here I am.  (I'm getting Skyrim for Christmas, so they won't be able to thwart me anymore)

As for positive threads, I would think the official SWTOR forums (or other fansite) would be your best source for that sort of thing, here it's all about the discontent.

The people that like the game are in game playing, and it s probably the same 4-5 people with numerous accounts rehashing the same crap every other thread. In game people are loving it, thats a better indication.

Don'tcha know?  It's against the gamer code to like both games!

Can't like both sandbox and themepark games.  It's a sign of the apocalypse.

Anyhoo... I've been amazed at how many h8ters have been on to exclaim that all their "fail" predictions had come true.  That was before launch, even.

I managed to get on last night without a queue.  I had a character on a west coast server, so it was only 3 PM, there.

It's not at all surprising that there's a lot of fallout, given the huge hype over the last 6 months, combined with the huge audience that consumed it.

People get sucked in by the hype machine, then start imagining the ultimate game and simply filter out anything that tarnishes the perfection. But when their "golden dream" meets reality on launch day, the tears start.

I agree.  There was way to much hype over this game and now people are realizing what it's not.  I mean sure it's a decent game where I can play with my girlfriend without having to worry about anyone stealing my mobs but it doesn't feel like an MMO.

It is?  Oh.  (Cancels Amazon order for GW2).  If I'm done with this game, I can still order other things, right?  :twitch:

Why's it bother you how many threads there are? Maybe each person feels their own view is unique and worth it's own thread. What difference does it make to you?

Eh -- it is essentially like a tweet these days...

    Or a facebook status...

Facebook Status : In TOR queue

    ----

As far as I am concerned TOR is not a game where waiting for a month after it is out to start playing will be a major issue.

In say Aion the difference between starting at the beginning and riding the wave was HUGE -- not only did crafted stuff (like green augment things) start WAY HIGH and then plummet -- but if you started at the beginning you got to play against equals but if you started later you got ganked over and over.

In say Everquest the difference was also fairly stark, but different.  If you started at the very beginning you got to do a lot of GM events etc, but if you started later there were more things that you could buy readily -- IE you didnt have to struggle to buy patchwork armor on your warrior.

I do not see a pvp, economic, or miss the raid chain reason to HAVE to rush at the beginning.

Are you sure?  From what I'm reading due to the game's heavy instancing you rarely see all that many people so how would you know?  image

You forgot that many people pay for that "something" actually. Because last time I checked SWTOR wasn't f2p. And paying customers are perfectly justified when they criticize the product they bought. Especially when the product is as substandard as SWTOR.
