EA - the very best scammers ever

Well now for this I'd give EA some 500 DS points. :)

I'm not sure you are aware that if you, for some reason, do not subscribe OR do not redeem you prepaid card code, those "30 free days" are still subtracted even if EA keeps your account blocked.

Now, EA, just think about all the kids from relatively poor families who spent their money on the game purchase, hoping for a month of playing, and who have no money to buy the card (and have no cc).

You are so sweet, guys.  And it's such a great tactics - you got paid and you have less players to cope with now.

So Merry Christmas to you and congratulations to the successfull scam. You are the best.

And please COME SOMEBODY to tell me that this is a NORMAL WAY OF OPERATION. :)

Do you have a link to back this up? As per usual the 30days doesn't begin until after you've actually set up a subscription.

I don't get it. You entered the code, it asked you for a credit card, you couldn't give one so they didn't activate your account but they still took your 30 days?

Not really. I'm paid by Blizzard to save WOW, isn't it obvious?

Well truth to say no - I can give them my cc but I'm paranoid about it. And I think that for the good reason. And also I spent a lot of cash for the Xmas so buying the time card I plan to use is

    1. not comfy

    2. not feeling right because I may find that the game is not that good - I just want to try it in the 30 days period and then decide if I'm giing them more or not

...well for obvious reason they will not allow that.

And back to your question, before they blocked access to the swtor forums, people were complaining with stories like that. I know it's hard to imagine but there are still countries where $60 is a lot of money and for some people it's just hard to pay more and namely in Xmas time. Imagine students, kids, whoever.

Good for you if you do not have such problems.

Well I can't link my account here. If I open my "subscribe" window, it says 27 days left. :) Yet the account is still blocked.

I still dont understand your problem.  You put in your CC number, the started your 30 days, you can play.  Whats the issue?  You are not billed for the next month until the free 30 days are over.  What exactly did they steal from you and "block"?

Edit: Can you post a screenshot to show us what your talking about.  (Blur out any account names or CC numbers or anything like that first).

No, and that is the trick. Your account stays blocked until

    1. you give them your cc and set up billing plan

    2. you register a timecard code

Just registering the game code is not enough to start playing. Well truth to say it was possible for the first day, then they blocked all accounts without cc or timecard.

    OK, have fun.

When dealing with a monthly, often they require your CC input.  Its actually kind of common.  So the "scam has been going on for some time.

Regardless they wont rip you off and they wont charge you until the next billing cycle which you will need to keep up with if you decide not to play.  Now if you have trouble canceling thats a good reason to complain.   But this is not.

Now what you need to do, is relax, and input your CC and get your 30 free days.  If you really dont want to pay after that, then go ahead and cancel before the renew date comes.

Alternatively you can go and get a debit card if you dont already have one and use that.  Wal Mart has them.  Now at Wal Mart at least, they dont let you do it unless you put 20 bucks on there, but do that, and spend the 20 on gas or something once its on your card.  Just inputing the data from that card should get you going since they wont be charging it anyways.  If that doesnt work out then come back here and shout and yell.  And I'll back you up.

You need to enter a legitimate card whether debit or credit.  I prefer debit.  They're not trying to rip you off.  Please go ahead and do this and please enjoy the game you have purchased.

I feel bad for you bud, but like any mmo, you need a valid credit card or activated playcard... It has been this way for as long as I can remember to get your free month.  Why do you feel the need to post about how this game is messed up just because you can't furfill the basics requiremnts of playing a Pay to Play MMO...   I know everyone can't affor to play these games, but its not the EA/Bioware's falt... Blame the stockholders and those mony loving (insert your hated political party here).  As for your playtime ticking away, i'm fell this is just a PR issues that will be solved.  The point the OP fails to realize, and dumb and as harsh as it may be, is that you have to have a Credit Cart/Game Card to get the free month.  Yeah that sucks, but thats the way it is... Sorry you can't play :(

He said he put his CC in, so I dont think thats the problem.  Normally they wont even bind your key unless you put the CC in.  Waiting for SS to figure out whats going on.

Edit: Okay you obviously didnt put your CC in, just put the CC in then cancel it.  Problem solved, but its kind of messed up to start counting down time before you put your CC in.

I never said that I was helping, but I also don't think you are helping either. Unless you work at EA or Bioware, there isn't much you can do other then just make the guy feel better.

Those kids and their poor parents are retarded for buying a game that costs 15 bucks a month to play when they can't afford it.

Also, the money in mmos doesn't come from initial box sales, it comes from subscriber numbers, they want everyone to pay, they don't make more money by people not playing their free month and getting addicted to the game.

OK. Give me back my money then.

Take 5 dollars to a walmart or random convenient story... pay for a visa gift card... put it in.  They don't charge you anything until after the first month. Bingo-bango-bongo, you're done.

Don't know many subscription based games that let you play for the 30 days without setting up billing as its a recurring subscription....   pretty sure just about all sub based games force you to subscribe before playing now.

A lot of players claim to be MMO veterans... just can't understand how this is "new" to them.  Needless to say, its not very hard to put in a 5 .. er 25 or whatever dollar visa gift card and be done with it.

That's not right, you really need to get in touch with CS, as well as IMO the BBB. There's no reason why your free-time should be ticking away if your account is blocked from playing.
