Well, at least now you aren't playing yet another WoW clone :)

Thats right mate now i ll be playing the one that revolutionized the genre.Because others seem to try and copy it at the ugliest possible way.

as for the rest.. yea you are right, but we all knew it was going to be like that.

Lol I was in SWTOR beta but that is all so I cant really judge much of the game as i didnt buy it,but I can say WoW's "cartoon" fits with its style and setting where as SWTOR is just as much of a "cartoon" but to me it turned a adult setting and made it look like a saturday morning 3D kiddie cartoon.

the stylised graphics are based on the clone wars cartoon so its not surprising that the comparison should be made... in part i think thats probably the intended demographic too.. after all, isnt the accusation levelled at WoW that it is mostly a younger playerbase, and thats why the numbers are also so high..  its just a case of one type of cartoon or another imo.. graphically.. neither one is better than the other from what i've seen.. though thats more of an aesthetic distinction than anything.image

Exploration is very cool in mmos.I was in swtor i saw a big huge dessert thing and while i was walking to do my exploration  a message poped up telling me "you are in exaustion zone turn back now" while i was loosing life. When i saw this message i said seriously i cant explore wtf?

Then i started getting really f...ed up.I couldn't believe this was happening.I like the sw theme but the game is not an mmo.

I personally like the music and art direction.

The questing in SWTOR makes me loath returning leveling in WOW.  WOWs biggest problem now is that they don't have enough time to fix MoP.  If Blizzard wants to take things from SWTOR they won't get in until the following expansion or Titan.

I'm not sure if I'll be subscribing to SWTOR, but I really don't want to return to WOW after playing SWTOR.

WoW is the world and the player in it.

SWTOR is the player and the world around it.

Think Mass Effect. You have places you can go and things to do, but all based on stories or quests. Everything has a distinct purpose. You have a very large hand guiding you where to go in SWTOR.

WoW's grip is looser but really to the same effect. There is more grind in WoW. But usually you are funneled along one or two prescribed paths.

In WoW, you have unique racial paths until about ~20ish. Then they merge into the faction paths. You then usually go a handful of roads and merge more. Once you hit 60, faction paths even merge into the expansion paths. But once you get past starter zones you really drop out of the story arcs unless you try to pay attention.

SWTOR has each class have story arcs for a really long time. And these story arcs drive leveling. You wont find a zone that runs out of quests before you need to just grind in my experience so far.

I would say that neither is a better option, rather just flavors of the same option.

I did the exact same thing.... and coming back into wow was fun for me...

I actually started over from scratch as a challenge, no heirlooms or gold, and played around with all the classes again... I had a blast...

Crazy it can still suck you in.

I think I'd rather slice either of my wrists than really try to put up with the crap game play either game offers tho'.

Still, this is a good post to note if any future developers of WoW Clones will be coming through. Spend more time copying WoW's graphics processing and animation response, and less on boring quest hubs.

    This.  ^^

It has to offer nothing music sucks worlds are empty graphics worse than wow on ultra no open world not alive world no real time weather night sunset etc nothing nothingggg.I cant believe they released such a game.It fails in every aspect and more over i had head aches of all the bluryness and filters on graphics they have thrown on it to cover the ugliness. The graphics are not clear so u can play 10 hours straight. You play 4 hours and u are done your eyes get tired.while in wow 10 months ago i was playing 17 hours and i didnt had a single problem.

So i fired up wow again in all my sadness cause i wanted to play an mmo these couple of days and to my surprise... holy shit! i have to say that the graphics on 1920x1080 ultra DX11 8x anti-aliasing look 5 times better than swtor and the performance fps is 100 times better than swtor.

When cataclysm was released dx 11 was not implemented and there were fps issues etc but now that there is dx 11 support the game just looks stunning and performs smoother than ever at 120 fps constant on 120 hz monitor.

Anyway seems like there is god these christmas.I ll be playing wow till diablo 3 releases it looks awesome that i cant believe they have done so much improvement with the dx 11 thing.Awesome work.

have a nice christmas guys i found the game to play till diablo 3

    Thats a huge breath indeed.

Have fun with the swtor single player irc.I will play it as well when it will become free to play or better b2p.

Now lets all have a great 2012 year.

    Holy crap.

I hope you made at least $20 for that "WoW graphics are cutting edge!"  promo.

Who does a better job at making WoW than the makers of WoW? Noone. TOR is never going to be a better WoW than WoW. Why pay a sub to play a copy when you can be playing the real thing?

Wow  i  like the word WOW clone. Like wow didnt take from other mmo. to me this post about The Old Republic is nothing more than a bashing from a Wow fanboy.  Im wondering what your going to say when GW2 comes out?  Wow was the game in its time, but its really time to move on there is bigger and better out there. My New Years resolution will be to get me a rig that can play TOR and GW2.

WOW graphics never bothered me and I could 'nt care less about TOR.  But , OP, WOW as it is now isnt going to change your mind about why you lef t 10 months ago. I was one who left and came back a few times and each tiime I came back my stay was shorter than the time before. Last time I didnt even make it a month. Maybe your different but as they say, it aint what it used to be.

    Edit spelling.

Really? This game sucks and Im not having fun? Im going to unsub right now. Thanks for the tip.

Fatigue bar in WoW. You must be getting really f...ed up while playing it. Lol.

So i just do alot of pvp with my guildies and having a blast while doing it.

Some do like like SWTOR ? why cry about it ? go back to wow and play there.

What do people want to prove to  themselves ? or others ?

You dont like cheese and unions on your pizza ? try the pepperoni but stop making your whine worldwide on forums no1 cares about.

So many posts are negative about a mmo on personal feelings....

SWTOR - WoW - Rift are very good games and hundreds of thousands of players like it.

Do each mmo's have bad aspects ? sure they have, but there wil never ever be a perfect game or mmo.

There is a huge difference. In SWTOR you get fatigued by walking lol in a desert (using his example). This doesn't make sense at all as you shouldn't die from exhaustion caused by walking (you can always rest).

In WoW you also get exhaused but only when you swim for example in the ocean which makes sense of course. WoW has no invisible boundaries. Of course if you swim in the ocean for 10 hours you will get fatigued but there's no way you can rest or stop and you drown.

swtor is not the most amazing looking game either but it fills damn well my cap of decend mmo outhere for now.

WoW still has many things going for it... unfortunately, it's age is starting to show in every way possible.

But the game is still very charming.

I resubbed for 4.3 after a year and I am ready to go into hibernation in 2 weeks.

The problem with going back to WOW, in my opinion now, is that it's old.  I'm bored with it.  No matter how good the graphics are or have improved, the game is still WOW.  Do you eat the same dinner every day?  Do you wear the same clothes every day?

At the very least SWTOR is new and I for one am glad I don't have to see another elf or troll or dwarf.

I'm sure I'll eventually grow tired of SWTOR, but going back to WOW, has never been an option for me.  It feels like a step backwards.

So, glad you are having fun with WOW, but it's old and it's time for something new, for many of us.
