It's seamless, with a couple of instanced dungeons.
Graphics is, from the looks of the video's, a mix of a 3D rendering engine and fully animated 3D models with some 2D environment art worked into it. I found what I saw intriguing.
Guildwars 1 had, in my opinion, superb graphics given the system requirements (something like a GeForce 3 and 1 G pentium III class processor) with some very nicely crafted scenery to exploit every ounce of GPU. I expect this to continue in GW2.
its simple ...people are hyped about gw2 because its not wow...which happens to be the main point that gw fan boys love to bring up. And not cause its not rift or tor or any other game people like. Simply put the game is rather generic looking the new character classes really do nothing to impress me. Hell even Diablo 3 created new dynamic classes for people rather then reskin and rename.....like gw2 did...
Closest facepalm emote I can find I'm not angry though just a humor facepalm.

The art style just looks like a generic Asian MMO to me and I just cannot get excited for how it looks. I have no idea how the world is built, I've played Guild Wars but that wasn't an MMO but I've heard this time round it is a proper world? I dunno but from everything I've seen it looks like it does the AoC thing where everything is in the skybox and the actual world is pretty enclosed and linear.
It just looks like a very generic MMO, the art doesn't stick out at all and I have no interest in the story because the story of the first one was so bad and generic. Can some one please explain to me why people are getting so excited for it? Just looks like another Asian MMO like how everyone was excited for Aion or something and yet it just looked generic again.
Honestly, i'm excited for this title, because i LOVED the feel of Tyria and the lore of the game. I played GW1 happily for a year until moving on to other gaming experiences, however i recall telling my friends that if Anet every made a persistent world that brings in other standard MMO elements, combined with the lore and outstanding pvp GW1 possessed, then i would be there day one.
Truly, i believe it's subjective from person to person, but for myself, the Guild Wars ip holds a special magic sway and i cannot properly describe it in words. As a fan of the genre in general, this one should provide some great entertainment if Anet does it right, and it seems they are on the right track, in my opinion.
I love randomness in my social interaction and Guild Wars 2 is promising to offer players that in both pve and pvp. In pve I'll be able to team with the others around me and not have to worry about ninja looters. In pvp I'll be able to hot join random teams of players, coming and going as I please. No worrying about a premade unless I want to do premade pvp (or so I hope!). Just get in and go.
I also like player housing, and that will be available.
I don't like raiding, so I'm perfectly happy not to deal with raiders. At the same time, huge open world battles against tough boss mobs sounds like fun and I'm all for that. I also don't like gear discrepencies and it seems Guild Wars 2 will allow me to have access to the same gear as anyone else my level, given some time and effort, instead of denying me gear and crafting materials simply because I don't raid (like SWTOR does).
I like that it's buy to play and I hope it does incredibly well and makes the people who created and invested in it a bundle of cash because I'm hoping if that happens more developers will be willing to go buy to play instead of forcing a sub on players or making a tiered free to play with heavy cash shop dependence.
I like the artistic style of Guild Wars. Despite its age, it's a beautiful game so I'm confident Guild Wars 2 will be just as lovely. The videos I've seen so far look great. Although I might need to throw a couple more sticks of ram in my system.
I like the variety of Guild Wars classes and Guild Wars 2 promises just as much variety. I'm especially happy that the mesmer made it in.
I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.

Ok, first off, to answer a question floated around later, the game is not 100% seamless. There will be loading screens outside of cities and when teleporting and rarely between zones, but it is done to improve performance. It is NOT a totally instanced world like GW1. It is a true MMO with a persistent world.
I could probably write a wall of text explaining why I'm interested, but I think maybe some videos might do it better. Please, take a couple minutes and watch some videos. If you haven't watched this first one, start here.
It might seem like PR hype, and there's certainly reason to be skeptical, but I've been following this game for ages and honestly, the more I read the more impressed I am. It's not only big things like dynamic events (which to describe would take a page), but also the care and attention to little things, like putting 5+ unique minigames in each city.
Please don't just look at the art style or think back to GW1 and assume the worst. This is a totally different game than GW2. Please feel free to ask questions and I'm sure we'll do our best to explain or maybe I can find another video.

Guys, no need to attack someone asking questions. Yes he may have came about it the wrong way, but he is still showing at least some interest in the game. Why not just answer his questions.
As for you question on seamlessness and instances, you are mixing them up with persistence.
Instancing -- You have your own copy of the map, and only you and your party will be able to see that copy.
Persistance -- Things will change throughout the world whether you are there or not. You can run into other people in a persistant map. You do not have your own personal copy.
Seamless -- No loading when you change maps, aka WoW when you are just heading from say Elywnn Forest into Westland (or is it westfall?).
Nonseamless? -- When you have loading between maps, but does not affect persistance. WoW had this when you went from Azeroth to Outland, or to northrend. Correct me if I'm wrong, as I've never played AoC but didn't it have this as well?
The only difference between seamlessness and nonseamlessness is how the game loads the data for the next zone. With seamless worlds, the game loads the data in the background when you enter the next zone. In a nonseamless world, the game loads most of the data during the load screen. Its used mainly to control lag.
So for GW2, as far as know right now, it's a persistant, nonseamless world. You will have a load screen between maps between maps and major cities, and you will have a load screen when you map travel (this is because the game just can't possibly receive and load the data for the area you are entering instantly or in the background effectively).
However, I should mention before you are turned away, the major cities and maps are HUGE. I believe a dev said that it can take about 15 minutes to walk straight through divinities reach (it's large enough to warrent it's own waypoints (map travel points), if that gives you any indication of it's size), and about 45 minutes I believe to walk across one map. So basically the maps in GW2 are huge, so it's not like you'll be facing a load screen every 5 minutes unless you map travel every 5 minutes (which costs gold btw).
If you need more information on the game I recommend:
http://www.guildwars2guru.com (Unofficial forums. ArenaNet employees post here A LOT, so it's a good source of info. Also look through their news section relating to GW2 for links to almost every article in existance about GW2)
I should mention, almost every review posted about GW2 demos have been positive. While there are some minor bugs here and there (what can you expect from a game that was not even in beta during the demos), most who have played the game have had a blast. There have been some minor criticisms about the game (and I say minor, and things that ArenaNet does look into). Here is an indication of how minor some of these criticisms were that turned out ot be huge debates: potions. When ArenaNet announced potions, and some saw them in the game during the gamescom demo, people flipped. Huge discussion thread on it on GW2. This was the first demo of GW2, and the biggest concern was potions. They have since removed potions and the mana/energy system completely (no energy for skills, only cooldowns as you resource right now). Most importantly though, those who have played it, myself included, have had FUN.
In closing, GW2 will be a great game for many people, but it will not be a game for everyone. I hope you will give GW2 a shot, but if not I hope you find a game that you will enjoy. If you have any more questions or concerns, please do voice them, even if many posters will try to burn you alive. Better to get your questions and concerns resolved than to put off a game you might enjoy. Also remember, these forums are not representative of the community that will be in GW2.
Well the game doesn't apperal to you but it does have some great features and stuff. Noone is making you like it plus you can't really say anything about a game that's not even out yet. The fact is all the MMOs right now suck really bad 2012 should hopfully bring us some good MMO games with decent PVE content and PvP content.
I gotta agree, 2012 looks pretty nice for whats coming out. i really hope we finally find that gem to push this genre to being consitered a leading genre.
Because i can. I'm Hopeful For Every Game, Until the Fan Boys Attack My Games. Then the Knives Come Out. Logic every gamers worst enemy.
Basically the general idea is ArenaNET is saying al the "catch phrases" people just love like Dynamic, story driven, player controlled, server vs server.
Apparently right now GW2 is:
1. DAoC 2.0 because of the world vs world vs world (basically wierd way of doing 3 faction combat) Anyone in the know can tell you this is the only way RvR can possibly work
2. UO 2.0 - Why u say ultima? Well because every single mmorpg for the past 20 years has technically copied something from Ultima. ArenaNET is removing the trinity in a mmorpg. This is major beyond the word major.
3. FPS in a mmorpg? What is the best part of Halo? When you fight someone gear does not matter and you are on equal footing. No INSTANCED RAIDING!!! They are removing the carrot. You are not a hampster on a wheel.
4. Gfx. Outisde of Aion no American dev has done character gfx like this so all the WoW derps crying about fluid combat will be happy we hope. TO bad their toasters still will not run the game.
5. ^ All that and buy to play. IN MY OPINION Rift and SWTOR should have done this payment model. Huurrr durrr I am unsubbing if no group finder....uhohhh no sub tard
6. Sandbox elements. When I change something in the enviroment it affects you. If I fail a dynamic event you pay the consequences. Basically what everyone cried for in Rift.
The game is all promises because everything up above has never really been tried by a dev without utterly failing much less 6 things at once. There is GW2 in 6 bullet points.
I promise you right now. GW2 is attracting some of the MOST HARDCORE pvp centric mofo's you have ever seen pick up the controller, so all these WoW guys who think they are tough are going to get steam rolled. All the guys playing TERA and Aion over on the Korean servers in their american/russian/german guilds will all flock to GW2 like flies on shit.
GW2 is the game that will appeal to the PVP'er and ... your right.. the so called WoW PVP'ers will probably get steamrolled over .. after playing WOW PVP .. laughable as it is.. i totally agree.. and .. PVP imo.. is about the only.. and the best.. reason to get GW2

I'm sorry, are the (..) breath marks or something. im not trying to be a prick but, its kinda funny.
Anywho, Don't cut the other games out though. my understanding is that Planet Side is PVP based (feel free to tell me im wrong im trying to learn about this game)
TSW is sitting on Territorial PVP where you can actually take countries.
my expectation is that GW2 will have the same general PVP that GW1 did.
SWTOR has PvP that... ok i cant finish that with a straight face.
wait to see whats in store before jumping behind a bandwagon. make sure its the right one, you don't want to jump on one just to find out your stuck beside Justin Bieber for the next year or so. Look at whats coming out, this site makes it easy.

didnt say that GW2 was the only PVP based game that was worth getting when it comes out, just that PVP was the best reason to get GW2 in the first place.. as for Planetside.. i played that for several years, great game, and im really looking forward to Planetside 2.. i may even forgive SOE for their past screwups if they get it right... and.. TSW is also on my future shopping list.. .. you might get the idea from this that im a PVP orientated player... .. i play Eve so.. i guess thats a yes
i agree, deep down im a PvPer aswell. but ive seen too much loss for not having gear when i can clearly out manuver and out hit a opponent. so my inner PvPer is bruised from watching my skill take a beating to people who do nothing but play the game and hunt down every last piece of gear.

Nothing can change your mind but I wil lsay you are dead wrong in ever assessment. GW2 will be the next big hit and every single ounce of information we know about the game is someting I want to see developed in a game.
Playing: GW2 Waiting on: TESO Next Flop: Planetside 2 Best MMO of all time: Asheron's Call - The first company to recreate AC will be the next greatest MMO.
When i close my eyes i can see those naysayers being converted after release and become some of the most religious fans of the game, simply because they expected nothing and got it all.
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
Someone with many positive posts on the TOR forums who also loves raiding, posting a Troll post on the GW2 forums, never would have seen that coming.
yes cause none of the gw2 fan boys go to tor forums and flame and troll...No never would they do that....oh wait THEY ARE THE MOST CONSTANT...followed a close second by wow fan boys.

No wonder you don't see it if you heard that this game will be a real MMO.
GW2 is nothing like AoC but you havn't seen it since you havn't done your homework.
Now, the game still wont be for everyone but you have just looked on a few screenshots. If you actually bother to look at a few of the longer vids you will see where the game differs.
Most people would probably have looked up the game a bit more before starting a thread like this, I wont repaet the wall of text you can see in the thread about what we know about the game but it is a sticky in the GW2 forum.

i know why i'm looking forward to it, and it's not the graphics. what it looks like wasn't what got me hooked. sure, it LOOKS generic, but a game's looks aren't what makes it a winner. it's the playability.
about six years ago, i wrote a small article somewhere out there on the internet about what i wanted to see in an mmo. i wanted to see an mmo the killed off the trinity so that a bunch of my mates and i could pick the class we wanted to play and could do a few dungeons and have a giggle together without forcing one or two people to be "the healer" or "the tank" so one of us isn't having as much fun as they want because they really wanted to roll a rogue.
i wanted to see a game with active pvp that wasn't gear focussed. i want to know when i'm kicking ass, it's because i have mad skills. not because i'm better geared. i want to know when i'm losing, it's because i suck at the mad skills and need more practice, not because the guy in front of me has elite gear.
i wanted to see a game which let me go into the dungeons to have a poke around regardless of the fact i haven't done that dungeon 17,000,000,000 times before so i can memorize it.
i wanted to see a game that didn't force me to join a guild of wingnuts at the end of the game just so i could see the inside of a cool dungeon and get that dagger of doom.
i wanted to be myself. to play my way. to have some fun when meeting people. i wanted to go back to the time when you'd meet someone in the middle of nowhere and feel comfortable saying, "hi - have you seen a big green beastie around here? i'm supposed to be killing it." and having that guy say, "sure - it's over here. want some help?" and i'd be able to say (remember this?) "awesome! thanks for that! very kind of you." and feel genuinely pleased to meet someone without automatically snarling at them to keep them from coming near my lootz.
yeah, six years ago i wrote an article listing this and more.
arenanet found my article, it seems. and they pinned it up on their wall and said, "let's make a game just for this guy."
unfortunately i didn't include a list of what i thought the characters should look like, so i'll have to make do.
but i don't care. this game's for me. a gamer who wants to have fun. not a gamer who wants to relearn algebra just to min-max. not a gamer who has the time to grind and outgear his peers just to claim time and gear is my skill. me. little old, thrill-seeking me.
and that's what you don't see, obviously.
and you won't, either.
because you're not me, and this game wasn't made for you. sorry.
ummm he said he played gw1 several times over the years....and was not impressed since much the the game gw2 is saying it will be is at the core gw still I think its a rather valid question. But again game isnt out yet and when the beta preorder stuff goes out again like it did for gw orignal you can just drop 5 down at gamestop and play it....I did that with gw and was rather let down and went back to coh till wow came out....Dont get me wrong there were a few cool things about gw I have admired but I just dont think it deserves all the hype it gets...

Someone with many positive posts on the TOR forums who also loves raiding, posting a Troll post on the GW2 forums, never would have seen that coming.

Because i can.

didnt say that GW2 was the only PVP based game that was worth getting when it comes out, just that PVP was the best reason to get GW2 in the first place.. as for Planetside.. i played that for several years, great game, and im really looking forward to Planetside 2.. i may even forgive SOE for their past screwups if they get it right... and.. TSW is also on my future shopping list.. .. you might get the idea from this that im a PVP orientated player... .. i play Eve so.. i guess thats a yes
Heh, Caldari Rep.
i agree, deep down im a PvPer aswell. but ive seen too much loss for not having gear when i can clearly out manuver and out hit a opponent. so my inner PvPer is bruised from watching my skill take a beating to people who do nothing but play the game and hunt down every last piece of gear.
Because i can.

Meh, Guild Wars 2 not got me excited, I'll try it when it comes, but it in no way got me chomping at the bit like Planetside 2 has.
Nothing can change your mind but I wil lsay you are dead wrong in ever assessment. GW2 will be the next big hit and every single ounce of information we know about the game is someting I want to see developed in a game.

yes cause none of the gw2 fan boys go to tor forums and flame and troll...No never would they do that....oh wait THEY ARE THE MOST CONSTANT...followed a close second by wow fan boys.
But again game isnt out yet and when the beta preorder stuff goes out again like it did for gw orignal you can just drop 5 down at gamestop and play it....I did that with gw and was rather let down and went back to coh till wow came out....Dont get me wrong there were a few cool things about gw I have admired but I just dont think it deserves all the hype it gets...
there is a game like that ....DC Universe Online.
