Ranting about getting banned is easy when MMO devs isn't allowed to disclose reason you got banned.

It always happens in MMOs, Kids will exploit like nuts or behave on global chat in a manner that would make whole choir of baby jeebuses cry and then after being banned go QQ on the forums "DEVS SUX I GOT BANNED FOR SAYING CATS R BETTER THAN DOGZ, U GUYS SUX FOR PLAYIN THIS KKTHXBYE!"

that story looks pretty made up. There is an obvious matter i must mention... if BW didnt want us to go to high lvl areas while not meeting the lvl required, they would add restrictions and not let us travel to said planet. In other words,  If you are lvl 40 and you decide to take the risk and travel to a lvl 50 planet, BW cant ban you because they made it possible to trave to high level areas.

whoever made that story up forgot that little detail.....

It is well known by now that Star Wars: the Old Republic is fairly linear for an MMO.  How linear?  Apparently it is linear enough that if a low level player decides to take the risk and journey to a high level planet to loot a chest, they will be hit with a banhammer.

Here is the supposed ban e-mail from Bioware/EA as posted by Bionic711 on Reddit:

The TOR forums are digesting the news now thanks to forum-user Blackk .  The player reaction is largely one of disgust.  Though some players are rightly pointing out that it could be a bogus e-mail.  However, the e-mail seems fairly well put together and Occam’s Razor (in my opinion) is only cutting in one direction on this issue.

Should the TOR community be upset over this?  Should the MMO community be upset?  If we take these claims as legit, I’d say so.  There is a long history in MMOs of players doing this sort of activity and not being banned.  Higher risk should equal higher reward, not a ban because your world design is quite obviously flawed.

Around 5 years ago as a lvl 25 Dwarf Hunter, I took a long trip from Booty Bay and then to Ratchet in Kalimdor.  After a long, long, death ridden journey to Aszhara, I caught some Stonescale Eels and later sold them at 1 gold a piece on the AH.  It was one hell of an adventure that made me good money for those days.  x Had I been banned for it, I am sure the Lich King would never have been defeated by my party of heroes.  Nor would have Blizzard received so much of my money through the years.

P.S. This is my first post on MMORPG… long time lurker, just needed something of substance to report.

Also, when I was under level and fishing in Aszhara I once had to call a GM to get my ghost out of a hole.  He laughed, helped me out, and said “have fun”.  Thanks for not banning me Mr. GM.

Very Bogus.  I was on ilum at level 25 farming boxes and my account is still active.  Sad they removed the boxes.

The definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.

Care to back that up with anything other than "I heard from this guy?"

Agreed, since I have been on Ilum (and not the only higher level planet) with multiple characters, and 'found' things that are definately significantly above level - and my account is still active

Since NO game company will ever go public with disciplinary actions (aside from generalities like "50K botters banned") because of privacy issues, it CANNOT be confirmed true.

Someone could easily call make this lie set in stone by having a video of theirself doing what got him banned by but not examples of exploiting just doing what the OP's current email is...

    So that being said anyone?

I might get banned for this. - Rizel Star.

I'm not afraid to tell trolls what they [need] to hear, even if that means for me to have an forced absence afterwards.

P2P LOGIC = If it's P2P it means longevity, overall better game, and THE BEST SUPPORT EVER!!!!!(Which has been rinsed and repeated about a thousand times)

I could care less about Swtor during development because Im too busy with work to drool over MMOs all day, but when it released I jumped on as a time killer and was quite surprised how well the game is. Im having fun, that's allt here is to it.

Jason, just think about. Of course it's an exploit. It's an easy way for a low level character to obtain high level gear. If this were to be allowed, you would see several low level characters running around Ilum all day farming loot containers. Not only that, this kind of crap seriously messes up the game's economy.

"Hey, guys check out this open world MMO from Bioware!"

"Sweet! So i can go anywhere i want?"

    "NO"

Quit trying to defend this. "Herp, well he MUST be an exploiter because he shouldn't be there". SAYS WHO?!?! People can't explore high level areas any more? OH BOY, WAY OF THE FUTURE! BIOWARE DOES IT AGAIN!

This is unacceptable to ban someone cause "hey, he MUST be hacking".

You know...when I first read this post I thought it had to be BS. I mean, something so ridiculous right? Can't be true.

But then I saw that this was all over the net pretty much, and there are some folks actually DEFENDING Bioware's supposed decision. So while this still could be a hoax, I'm just going to write this post as if the claims are real.

Banning someone below level 50 for going to a zone that is level is INCREDIBLY idiotic. Reason being, that the devs could simply just DISALLOW anyone below level 50 from entering the zone.

The stupidest thing you could possibly do is allow players to explore a zone out of their level range, thus giving the illusion of an open world, but then BAN them for doing so. Come on.

    Oh and next point...

How is getting high level goods at low level in Illum exploting, but the following aren't:

    1. Rushing one character to 50 in 60 hours and then twinking all of your alts.
    2. Having a guildie or friend that is level 50 give you high level gear at low level.

I mean, it doesn't take long to get 50 in this game. It's not like twinking is hard. Why not let a lowbie without a level 50 friend goto Illum and have fun getting some decent gear?

Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob?

Going to the chest once or twice seems ok but seriously on my server I've seen two guys in 50 zone who where around level 27 or so just sit there for 5-6 hours come back the next day to see them still there. Which has to be some kind of anti afk bot that auto loots so.. BANNNN THEM ALL!!

You don't understand bro. He wasn't banned for exploring the planet. He can do that all day if he wants to. What he can't, though, is farm high level loot containers as a low level character because it messes up the economy and exploits progression. You think it's alright that a level 20 character can camp a loot container all day, get high level items, dilute the market, dictate the prices for such items, make money sinks absolutely useless, inflate prices, and remove the "demand" part of the economy? You must be blind or something if you can't see the issues with this.

The truth is if its tor and bioware,k and ea some people will just go on the side against them. they dont care what the facts are. They just auto go to the side against them

Anything to convince players not to play tor.

If you're below level X, you cannot open containers in high level areas that are meant for high level characters.

    Or

If you're below level X, you cannot open containers in high-level areas that are meant for high-level characters more than X amount of times per day/week/month.

Two potential solutions that don't involve the banhammer. Five seconds of thinking. I am officially a genius.

How exactly does it mess up the economy because he's not level 40? Nothing what you said makes any sense, and niether does this situation.

Chances are that this guy got banned for some other reason. I doubt Bioware even bother to give reasons when they ban someone, and if they did, they probably wouldn't go into such detail.

I'm going to have to take a trip to this place tomorrow on my level 20 character to see these warnings.
