    le sigh.

    /facepalm

BW/EA literally have no fricking idea what they're doing. I'm about to hit lvl 48 on my shadow and the shear number of horrible design decisions in this game is amazing.

    Jaw dropping.

The idea that "we won't have server forums because they become unpleasant" is not only untrue and spoken by a total fricking noob, but is also untrue and spoken by a total noob.

BW/EA is dead set on wrecking their own game. Some CEO is laughing all the way to the bank and he doesn't give a rat's behind.

If you are going to complain about something, it would be nice if it had merit.

Remember Vanguard, and how sandbox fans around here just love that game? Before Sigil was absorbed by SOE, Brad planned to quit running official servers once launch was due. He wanted that stuff handled by the fan sites.

So spare us the drama routine, as this isnt the first time it has happened.

EQ server boards were dead for yrs. I started on Drinal, and moved to Mithaniel Marr about a yr in. They both had private server forums that were busy as hell, and as far as I know, all the other servers did as well.

If someone wants to develop a community feeling, on their server, they will start a board. Otherwise, sites like TORhead will be there.

Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget.

You know it's entirely possible to tie subcription to ability to post on forums, I know atleast one company which is able to do it by experience and they aren't loved either...

    Nailed it...

So because you don't use it, that makes it a worthless feature?

    WOW!

Someone inform the Sun that our solar system doesn't revolve around it anymore! it revolves around korent1991!

Actually, thats what the poll is for. Instead of jumping up and down and saying 'Bioware defends bad decision', why not find out if it was a bad decision first. Oh, I get it, the OP...and you, think it was a bad decision so the rest of us should just believe you and move on right?

I disagree, lets get some result shall we. Lets let people who we KNOW frequent online forums (i.e. MMORPG forum users) tell us if they actually USE individual official server forums on the games they play. And if it actually turns out that they dont, then lets correct the title of this thread and the OP...and well you! If you're right then at least we did it with some facts for a change instead of just someones opinion of someones opinion based off some story thier brothers cousins best friend read on some internet blog someplace.

Oh and just to let you know, I'm one of the lurkers usually on these forums. And your list of benefits from them, can be given from a forum in ANY community setting. It does NOT require an official server forum set up and rnu by the game company in order for those things to be a benefit. All of them can and will be available if the COMMUNITY makes thier own forums for thier own server, just like Bioware suggested. This is the year 2012 baby, 99.999% of the world is made up of social media junkies. Do you honestly believe they dont know how to set up and run a social media gathering point with a forum on it?????

When it comes to "voting" on this site, I would be more apt to trust public elections, not to mention public officials....from any party no less.

The sandbox bias on MMORPG is bad enough without tools making multiple accounts, or running bots to inflate hype values etc. As Kyleran puts it....a bunch of forum PVP going on.

The only reasons I'd like to see specific server forums are for guild recruitment and pug raid organization.  Most of the other types of posts get nasty fast or are off topic.  Frankly it's a service I think Bioware needs to provide.  Just implement a one strike rule and rely on people reporting violations.
