Why publishers keep allowing again and again for the same communities to infest every competitive online game out there despite the common knowledge that they will bring nothing but lag and drama and randomlanguagehere chat flood is beyond my understanding.
This is especially true when it comes to f2p games, since usually most players from those countries do not pay a single cent in their whole gaming careers due to their crappy economy.
There is games out there that got it´s community and competition destroyed due to lag and hacks and the publishers seem not to give a damn.

Surely just have a ping limit filter?
lag can be caused by many things and what country your in isnt the only problem.
I think i know what to OP means, hes not mentioning which "communities" in particular so he doesn't appear racist.
Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.
Nexon does that, which is great. Nexon NA is limited solely to US and Canada, with ping "filter" for players from further away trying to bypass through VPN (usually you get a pretty bad connection, if that's the case you won't be able to connect to the servers).
However that doesn't entirely solve the lag issue, but it's a step in the right direction.
I've played several games that had no IP restrictions and you'd end up with LOTS of players lagging, making the game unenjoyable or simply unplayable. Then you also have the younger community that starts to claim other players are lagging just to get them kicked ( even if it's not true), which most players in the room will quickly agree to, because no one likes laggers.
Just too many issues. IP restrictions is the way to go for competitive AND Peer to Peer games.
People will also complain when servers are country or IP restricted, though they don't complain about lag but complain about not being able to play with people all over the world, which in my opinion is what most "online"games should be about instead of being restricted to just your own country. Already been there when internet was very restricted, thankfully no more
Sure there might be randomlangauge barriers or issue's, sure there might be lag, but lets face it do you OP walk the street in your own town/city and have fun with everyone you see in that street? Do you think that everyone in that street has a job or brings something to the economy, keeping in mind that the US has the biggest debt of all country's all over the world and technoligy still trumphs miles ahead in the country's you see as having crappy economy.
I am also sure that community's can help or destroy games but I am fairly sure that gamecompanie's/publisher do give a damn especially if it's the publishers own servers, thinking otherwise would be highly ignorant in my opinion.
They don't need to ban those people, it isn't there fault if their nets are slow.
They could however have special servers for people from thos countries, or they could even measure your ping and recommend a server based on that for all your characters besides the first one (a quick test ain't good enough, all ISPs have good and bad days).
But don't punish people who already is suffering from this.
Yes lets block the poor and the less fortunate.
Only elitist and rich aloud to play the 1% and rest can rot in the gutters right.
I know many filhty rich kids who hack cheat grief and polute the ingame communities, maybe even more then those poor.
I hope all(1%) who campaing for excluding those who are poor or have lesser connection be banned.

These days I don't even mess with games that don't atleast IP restrict to nations with the same language as me. I still have an account in a game that I really enjoyed that I almost never play because they split the servers and I didn't log in durring the time period when I could jump ship to the new one like every other english speaker did. Now all it's good for is griefing random Egyptians, and half of them are using hacks, so that gets boring pretty quick even when people aren't flooding me with trade requests and asking me to GIVE them my equipment in horrible pidgin english. I don't care how much they suffer with their slow net or their crappy economy, my only concern is if having them in the game decreases or eliminates my enjoyment of the game.
Simple - they want their money :P
well you may have a point but MMORPGs aren't about competitive play (PvP?) and hopefully never will be.
We need a MMORPG Cataclysm asap, finish the dark age of MMORPGS now!
"Everything you're bitching about is wrong. People don't have the time to invest in corpse runs, impossible zones, or long winded quests. Sometimes, they just want to pop on and play."
"Then maybe MMORPGs aren't for you."
1.) They want their money.
2. Any business executive with a pulse and a functional brain is going to realize that blanket banning entire countries, no matter what the reason, is going to lead to them being lambasted as hateful xenophobes.
If you honestly believe any online game publisher is ever going to refuse business from specific nations with the given reason of "they bring nothing but lag and drama and languages other than English" and generalize all gamers in that country as "hackers" without being absolutely eviscerated by the media, rights groups and their own shareholders, I'm going to invite you to rejoin the 21st century.
No offense but online gaming is not a human right or something those people need for their survival or wellbeing and it is not like people die when they are prevented from joining x game. Heck, every single of us has been barred from joining a handful of games because of license issues or service zone limits and we didin´t commit seppuku over it.
I honestly do not see how the many have to lower their entertainement quality so that the few can give themselves the caprice of joining it, i honestly do not see it.
Heck, its not like i asked for them to be banned from every online game out there, i just referred to a specific particular kind of connection sensitive games.

What free game is competitive?
This title is misleading.
I used to play MMOs like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee.
Sad to say the good old USA has some of the worst averages, I got a freind that is both USA and Swede, and now I know why thier the digital pirate kings. If I remember right low end is 300mbs, upper is 3gig. He told me it only takes 3 mins to download a full movie over thier.
