Best MMO for Grouping

schrollbachschrollbach Member UncommonPosts: 72

Hey there,

I was wondering what everyone's opinion is on which MMO is best for grouping/leveling by doing dungeons. What I am looking for is a game where I can level up a bit by doing quests, then hit up the LFG tool and see if some people want to get together to go do something.

I recently played SWTOR for a bit and enjoyed that so many people were grouping up to do heroic quests, and I'm looking for a similar experience in some of the other MMOs that are available.

I don't really care much if it's a F2P or a P2P, but as long as there is a shaman type character I'll be happy (or any hybrid-esque class that can heal).

How easy is it to get groups to do dungeons in LotRO, EQ2, DDO, or AoC? Which MMO is it easier to find a group in?

DDO is a dungeon running game for the most part. It is probably the easiest of the ones listed to find people at all level ranges. It may not be the ideal mmo, but it is one of my top 5 games ever, I always play it. Argonessen is the most populated server i believe.

I've been wanting to try it because I have heard a lot of good things about it, but I was a bit skeptical about how much people group up or the amount of people that still play it.

I've been wanting to play Vanguard for a really long time, but the population is near to nonexistant from what I've heard.

    Thanks for the input!

I played LOTRO for a good length of time, I can say I never had a problem finding a group. Given it's F2P status, there (at my time of playing, about a year ago) was always an influx of people running around. Certain areas are harder than others to find groups in, but the first few zones and the end game always have groups looking for players.

They had a LFG system, but in my experience it was always easier to just ask around in /LFG or /General. Finding a good guild always helps too.

    Hope this helps.

DDO probably is the best game for this. The others have kinda made soloing too easy so most people tend to solo all the way until they max out. You can still find people who like to group but not so many.

For some reason is leveling by soloplay faster and and almost as rewarding as dungeon leveling.

AoC do have lots of players in the dungeons because the dungeon gear looks a lot cooler than the sologear but the problem there is that there really isn't a dungeon worth the name in it until Sanctum at lvl 35-40. That means you have to solo up to 35 and I think there still are some levels with very few dungeons after that as well. Some of those dungeons are very well made though.

As for DDO is the bad thing with it that it is a lot more funny with a few people you know than in PUGs.

A cheap game that also have plenty of fun dungeons is Biowares old Neverwinter nights, while a server only holds up to 64 players it do have dungeons that often is better than they are in any MMO out there. A copy can be found for practically nothing (they gave away them free with GFX cards a while back).
