F1, F2, F3, F4 buttons ingame ("alternate buttons for different armors and weaponds")

Did anyone get their "armor alternative buttons" to work beta weekend 3 (january), or didn't I just understand how to use them?
In beta weekend 2(december) they worked fine, but I had big problems in january beta.

And when I tryed too much i got an arrow on my staff and other graphic bugs...
Or else I hope ArenaNet fix the problem, cause theese buttons am I quite much dependenced on!

    I didn't even know about the game during December but I did play in the January beta test.  They worked fine for me.  In the January test you had to configure your player and then click on a 1, 2, 3, or 4 on the bottom of the inventory screen if I remember correctly.  Then the appropriate function key would array your character with the equipment you setup.
