I must be really clueless. is it a setting to lock it?

There's a little padlock icon connected to the left of toolbar.

Perhaps your Internet connection and/or system is lagging a bit? The loading screens or me are also pretty quick, but I have a pretty good connection as you ca see below. As for the UI, I've seen them say they are working on a customizable UI.

I have noticed some bugs, one specially with reverse engineering, which was pissing me off. Not to the point I'd cancel though, I mean shit, the game has been out about two weeks, so I'm given them some time. Overall, I think the game does have a great deal of polish and is leaps and bounds ahead of my experience in WoW, Eq2, Vanguard and AoC when they came out.

I don't think any of my issues are down to connection. I have a pretty decent (for UK) cable connection and don't have problems in other games.

Loading screens will be down to drive speed and at 7200rpm I would think that is fairly standard. I'm not too bothered about waiting a few moments but some places take a good 60 seconds or more to load and there are just so many.

The big issues for me are Warfronts, which also happens to several others in my guild, and the clunky combat.

The other issues are just annoyances, but together become very off-putting and are symptomatic of rushed shortcuts rather than game polish.

The games you mentioned certainly did have problems at release but I've come to expect, and indeed have experienced much more polished games since then, particularly with so-called AAA titles.

I start to lose health so I quickly click on my shields and back to DPSing, I glance back at my toolbar and my shields never fired. Low on health I click a medpack and back to DPS, another glance at my health bar and whoa, the medpack didn't fire either. WTF, I can't keep double checking to make sure something fired correctly.

May I recommend a gaming mouse (click)? In case you're not using one. It becomes a treat playing these recent shitty MMOs. With their million skills cluttering your UI.

Oh and the combat is visceral! image

im a lover of the game and play it exclusively.

these are the major issues that i have with the game though.

travel time is terrible, loading screens are everywhere. I plan my day of play around my fleet pass. some questlines take you so far in, that if i have a couple hours, the return time is too long to get back in my gameplay window. I plan my gametime around my fleet pass lol.

i usually roll through some quests, get to a hub, fleet pass, pvp till im done. the travel time, from hub to spaceport, to ship, to galaxy, to spaceport is about roughly 30minutes.

combat delay is a huge issue for pvp'er atm. I am a pvp'er and hitting cloak and dying, then seeing cloak go off as i respawn is very annoying. It isnt lag , it's a huge issue with alot of people.

i love the cutscenes, but i don't see it as a driving force for the game.

i've never had the warfront issue, but if i did, i'd probably unsub , i prefer pvp over any aspect of swtor.

the ui, macros issues are going to be a deal breaker for me later. i only have so many fingers and can only reach so far on my keyboard. having about 10 abilities i use in every fight , and then having to look at procs, and situational abilities, takes away from teh immersion.

as much as i enjoy the game, probably the first thread with some legit qq'ing.

I wish that were the issue but it happens whether I use a hotkey or a mouse click, I can't imagine a gaming mouse making a difference here.

After some research I have found videos on Youtube showing an ability delay relating to the GCD and wonder if that is the cause.

The OP is right on most accounts. And a lot of the issues people keep claiming they do not have have been addressed to be fixed by BW themselves as a known issue. These are all valid points.
