LOL i think i saw one woman move slightly in this video apart from the other few players dotted around this lifeless world. Is there a Mos Eisley type social bar in the game?

I don't get it. Imo whether NPCs are standing around or moving around, doesn't make a difference if you cannot interact with them in anyway. Unlike a sprgp where NPCs are needed to populate the world, NPCs shouldn't do so or have to to do so in a mmorpg. A mmorgp should feel alive/dynamic through the players doing what they do.
I know this has been said before but why does every static mob have to be in a group of 3? Is there something i've missed?
Land of AKA Godzilla with Wifey
Every mob doesn't come in 3s but whatever you say I guess.
they could make every idle animation to /getdown. That would spice things up.
Played - M59, EQOA, EQ, EQ2, PS, SWG[Favorite], DAoC, UO, RS, MXO, CoH/CoV, TR, FFXI, FoM, WoW, Eve, Rift, SWTOR, TSW.
Playing - PS2, AoW, GW2
Wow, static combat NPCs, they should just remove those lol.

and why all the fucking clones 2.49 is fucking silly 3 clones of the same dark guy .You could also see a couple of copys of him in the courtyard . The same with all the Npc characters. COPY AND PASTE cheap . Feels like something amature woiuld
do in a construktion kit or something .
If it is really that quiet surely its a quick and easy fix for them to make the NPC's interactive with each other and have some basic voice scripts to bring them to life. That would transform the ambiance of the game if that video is anything to go by, it looks awful and almost creepy as it is.

Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D
Awful.
What really gets me in that video is the complete lack of ambient music or sound.
No wonder the world feels dead.
"Never argue with a fool; onlookers may not be able to tell the difference."
I need to take this advice more.
People going on about the NPCs this NPCs that. That part is almost the same in every game.
My main problem with how it felt was due to sounds. If they were present they were weak and almost nonexistent.
Of course when they weren't present it was much worse.
Ye its really odd that the devs did not think that was an issue, maybe an insight into their lack of experience with virtual worlds. Has to be fixable though, and quickly by the looks of it.

This one is even more static, hell even a college gaming student can do a better job.
If it's not broken, you are not innovating.
Except it would suck in a single-player game, too. Bioware's other games weren't this bad. DAO was actually pretty good in this area.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
Don't know what you mean by the word 'Except', but ye it would be just as bad if not even more inexcusable in a single player.

Theres nothing new to see here move along.
(i see the same in all mmos. What is it you would liek to see?)
its bad but its ok because some of the other mmorgs are bad too?

Clone Wars!
It's not a lack of insight. They just don't care. They have no reason to pay attention to details like this because these details have almost zero impact on sales and subscriptions. Trust me. This was the driving factor in all of their decisions on this game.

i see a bright future for this, as this issue seems to be the most complained about. I really dont give a hoot if the combat_droid_1 mob flies south for winter.
So stupid trawling the forum reading crap like this and then posting it as if it's your own moment of awakening. Usual post-launch blubbing from people who cant find anything to play because they have lost touch with reality.
you mean they spent $300 million billion and dared to expect to recoup their investment and make money? Business is evil. When will someone step up to the plate and give us what most of us don't want, without any thought of covering costs, making money....
Well done.

Oh, thought by "virtual world" you meant that it was a more important issue for MMOs. It's more like they're inexperienced at making video games, period.

I do have a feeling that good games earn loads of money anyways and that the devs (not singeling out TOR here, it goes for most MMOs) probably would do better if they focused more on making a great game and less on what they think sells most.
