Project Fiona is a proof-of-concept and a prototype in the most serious way. What you're looking at is version 0.2. (Razer's already finished work on five more iterations of Fiona—they're up to version 0.8 at their labs, and expecting to hit 1.0 by the end of the year.) I can tell when I feel the heat coming out of the vents, as the fan spins up to cool the Intel Core i7 breathing fire inside. Or when the right analog stick feels a little sticky.

Just saw PlaySpan's facebook page post about this new gaming device called Project Fiona. Thought this was cool but don't see how many people would actually buy it. The CEO says its not going to replace laptops or desktop gaming but it will be the new PORTABLE solution for on the go.
Would you guys buy this?

Looks nice, breaks the mould of traditional yet stale ideas for handhelds, looks nice to hold
& play with, graphics look great, despite consoles & handhelds aren't really my cup of tea...

I think it will be really tough to pick up steam, but it could do well. The major problem being.. with the way it looks, it gives you the kind of portable console feel.. and though its using windows 8, I don't think its going to hit the mark as an on the go console like I believe its aiming to be.
Also, it looks strikingly similar to what the Wii-U is doing... though I'm not expecting the same type of response as the Wii-U controller, simply due to the fact that it doesn't appear that Fiona IS a console... its instead a self proclaimed PC port machine.
We have enough problems with that when PC games truly ARE ported to console.... I can see the "supported games list" now.
Hey I'm all for trying something different, but I'm not going to go out and buy one anytime soon.
It seems to me to be more something that beats IPAD than than the future of PC gaming to me.
There is surely potential to have a low range PC in that size for gaming, and it would be excellent fun for LANs and such but it is not something I would exchange my water cooled hexa core for.
Of course once processors actually can be made by nano technology like grafen size shouldn't really mean better PC so in 10 years can all desktops probably just be the monitor including the really powerful ones but holding the screen in your hand is a bother for us MMO players.
I could see a portable PC the size of an old walkman with just glasses instead of a screen and some type of controller though, it would be the ultimate portable PC.
Myy question would be.. Why would someone spend ~1000$ for a weak PC when they would get a real PC ( and much more powerful ) for 1000$? Its almost like they are trying to trick console gamers into thinking this thing is as powerful as a gaming PC.
No, it will NOT be the future of gaming. However, it WILL be the future of handheld gaming. Look at that control scheme. It isn't meant for PC gaming, but it IS meant for Console OR HandHeld gaming.
