TERA: Beta Sign Up Begin for NA and EU

As 2012 gets underway, En Masse Entertainment has announced that beta sign ups for TERA are now being taken. Devs indicate that several "closed phases" will be held with players attending by invitation only. This is similar to last year's "beta events".

Everyone who signs up for beta testing will be invited to the open beta when it's ready to get underway.

Sign up for the NA beta on the TERA-En Masse website. Sign up for the EU beta on the TERA-Frogster website.

Just wondering how different this will be from the Korean version.  Hope they make the leveling a bit more challenging.

Wrong. The game was pretty enjoyable with my 500ms latency to the S-Corean servers.
It stopped being playable above 600 ms.

I can only dream how it'll be with pings under 200 ms.
With Western MMO's I manage under 100 ms.

They delayed for too long and it feels like a game from 2010 to me as I played in Korean beta and so on.. Very bad marketing...

They simply are doing what all devs should do and thats make sure the game is fully ready before they release it in the west. They made a mistake in Korea releasing too early and dont want to make the same mistake again.  If you dont see that then the game does not need you.

Just signed up even though I'm waiting for Guild Wars 2 and Archage I will try Tera to see if its worth it or not.

I need to ask too what you define as enjoyable? anything over 250 ping in aion is annoying to me and since tera you need to dodge and all to prevent damage, can't see that ahpening in a good way without you have at least -150 ping.

 

but in anycase we will have to wait and see

Enjoyable to me is not wanting to smash my keyboard in due to lag.
Funny thing is, I played Aion in China and the ping I was getting was around 500 too but still irritating so I used a VPN proxy program thing to get my ping down to about 300. Making the rest of my internet suffer while playing but making Aion feel a bit better for me.
I didn't have to resort to this with TERA.
My skills fired off without any large noticeable delay.

Looks like another Asian art style RPG.  I assume when you do a standard attack your guy spins in circles 6x, jumps into the air, and bunch of fireworks shoot out from your weapon?
