I really don't find those graphics all that impressive. Maybe it's the style, maybe it's the lack of realistic lighting effects, not sure, maybe even the animations, but I see nothing special. Better than TOR? lol not saying much...
The game is not perfect and you could have criticized many things (I agree about the animations). But of all things you could pick, you chose to criticize lighting. That just took away all your credibility.

I dare you to say SWTOR looks better.
Theres nothing you can say to these people to change there minds. They have what they feel is the best and thats all there is to it. Even with those 2 vids you linked that guy will still say the lighting is nothing special. I like the fact that this guy thinks that way though. Will keep me from having to play with people like that. Let him stay in the game he believs to be better. Ill be right here in AA when its launched.
The lighting and effects look great, but the terrain is pretty terrible. The ground is pretty much just flat textures. Of course, if they added rocks, doodads, shrubs, moving grass, etc, the game would probably slow down to a crawl.

I have to agree that most games that come out of the east lack any use of realistic lighting leaving everything looking kind of 2d and washed out. I remember people falling all over themselfs over AION's graphics which I thought were really average and mostly cheezy looking, another dev house that doesnt understand the use of lighting in their game.
I think AOC made the best use of lighting in any MMO and is far and away the best looking MMO to date, by a mile. Wow faked lighting better then AION by using a lack of lighting creating shadows. LOTRO made pretty good use of game lighting. RIFT unfortunitely with a great graphics engine makes terrible use of lighting and has a sort of fog persisting in most of their enviornments, its really strange. SWTOR has terrible textures and lacks lighting in some areas, but in other zones makes great use of it. Balmorraa and Tari are both amazing looking

Dude, how do you get around? Do you have one of those seeing-eye dogs?
I feel really sorry for people out there that lose their sight. I'd imagine it's worse to lose your sight than to be born that way. Someone should put together a Cryengine vs Hero Engine comparison in Braille. I think it would be a wonderful learning experience for you Adam.
Wait a minute... How are you reading this? I'm confused...

Those videos actually prove my point. Take away the lighting and the ground + doodads look no different than most current/last gen mmos. Look at 4:00 in the second video, the rocky cliffs she's walking on is just a rocky texture mapped over one very flat object.
When I'm talking about complex terrain, I'm talking about something like this:
Of course, I don't expect something like that to be doable for a MMO, but I was hoping for something a bit more advanced than what current MMOs are doing in terms of terrain.

You're talking about lighting. The shadows cast by trees and various doodads are from the advanced lighting engine, which I already said was impressive. It has nothing to do with the quality of the terrain itself.

Hahahahaa.... I knew I shouldn't have comment on the shadow. Now you act as you don't see the all the shrubs and moving grass and the quality of rich ground textures.
You, my friend, are a hater. And a ridicilous one at that.

Those shrubs/doodads aren't really anything more advanced than what the current crop of MMOs are doing. I'm mainly talking about the ground itself. There are huge swatches of completely flat ground with a texture slapped on it. Read the post I made before the one I quoted yours and you'll see that I gave an example of what I consider to be 'good' terrain. I also said I don't expect an MMO to pull off that level of detail, but I am disappointed that it's not any better than what MMOs have been doing currently.
it has to be how it is because of the place where they chose there world to take place in, it mostly resembles our antilies islands so they are going to be flat. Also the seige weapons have to be able to move around as well as decent leveling for building planting and ect.

When you have thousands of players all wanting to build houses and grow farms and like the person above said, move siege weapons, you're going to need flat space. You're moaning for the sake of moaning.

Exactly, if you want Crysis like floor, linear 4 hour long console shooters are that way ----------------- >

Crysis is neither linear nor a console shooter, however I don't think it's fair to expect this graphics from MMOs just yet.

Except the players can plant more flowers/shrubs/etc if they wish to. Find the ground around your house dull? Plant some flowers, some strawberries, clovers...your choice.
Let's take the 3rd continent for instance. It's pretty empty, flat, and basically nothing exceptional scenery wise. Well some player thought it would be nice to decorate it a bit. And that's what he did:
A forest!
My IG neighboor also made some sort of half moon logo with strawberries she planted. I shall take a screenshot tomorrow.
So yes, sometimes the scenery are dull and lack details because they are meant to be filled by players.

CryEngine 3, making mediocre shooters popular for 4+ years now.
Though I can't wait for this game, WTB Korean ID card

Anyone knows how well and stable it actually runs?
Mortal online can look rather pretty in a vid as well but playing it is a very different thing.
Yeah, lets hope they find a western publisher soon.It will take at least a year to translate the game right so the sooner the better.

That's not to say the devs are being lazy though:
And lastly, from CBT3, but still:
