After way to many years to count...

After way to many years of MMO gaming to count, I have finally stopped playing MMO's, for the last 6 months I have played nothing other than the TOR beta, and TOR was not for me, I played Rift before that, but I do not know about going back.

what I need is a strong community which sadly seems non existent in modern mmo's, but I believe a community can feel strong if the people you play with are social and supportive. I don't know if this makes sense but I do not want to give up MMO's after roughly 15 years, dang I sound old.

I want to play a good game with a great guild again, I of course would want to level, quest, and experience a game all the way through with others, I play mmo's to play with people,  at this point I don't care about the game as much as I do the overall community and social experiance.

Are ther any guilds out there in any game that value the social aspect of an mmo over all else that need a lost old mmo'er to join there ranks?

this obviously is a satire post, but I really need some game and guild suggestions, i have tried about everything from the mid 90's to today, I would return any previosly plaed mmo if the community was there for me (except wow...need I say more...). 

My favorite MMO's include:

UO

DAoC

SWG (pre NGE)

 EQ1

AoC (yes really)

and sadly I loved Aion, I know maybe I wasn't burned out of thempark  grindfests at this point, or I just had a great guild.

Now, it might be that i'm biased since it was my first ever MMO, but Anarchy Online might have what your looking for.

 

AO is a Sci-Fi MMORPG, with a very unique setting and feel.

 

Granted, the game is 10 years old with no telling of when the new graphics engine will come out, if your looking solely for community, Anarchy Online will definitley give you what your looking for. I have never found a more supportive and largely friendly community. It could be that the community is small, (Unfortunatley don't look at it growing until after the engine release) however orgs in the game treat their members as if you have been friends for awhile. Especially new players, since most newbies have a hard time learning how to play the game/understand the game.

Wow, seems like forever since I played AO, roughly 8 yrs or more, but is the community still there? What hope would someone starting a new char have finding others to play with, and how does the game hold up after all this time? 

I would love to give AO another shot if the community is there, in fact I am supriswed to here it mentioned, I am glad to here it is still going.

I may just have to look into this.

I know this game come back in a lot of discussion, but maybe if you're looking for a great comunity, you should try Vanguard. I heard great things about it.

Yes this was a great game but they no longer have a PVP server .. . and I wonder about how one would do parts in it that pretty much require a full group. I imagine people leveling up would get help from 50s often since there would be no one else around? Anyways the classes are pretty fun to play. Its like the original EQ more than EQ2 is.

 

The Bard and Druid are probably the funnest classes.
