considering i have yet to see a bad review of WoW, that would imply Blizzard bought the whole internet community..... beside that is the USER rating, not the site rating. MMorpg.com has still not reviewed WoW.
But.... mmmmh... do not think blizzard bought the whole review internet community... it seems more a SoE plot.... maybe they confused the name of the game?

i thought the 8.8 score was given by the community.
Although i have to agree not sure how WoW got such extremely high scores across the board eg 9.5 at Gamespot. Oh actually i am sure...PR money talks baby!

Ditto.
Agreed. I can't see playing this for a year, although I will be playing for a few more months! I wish I could have been a part of the whole Everquest era - was the game that good that people played for so long - or was it because it was only one of the few games out there? I played EQ2 less than a month I think.

It was the only option out there. But I still say that it has the best raid content of any MMOG anywhere. If you have a capable guild of 40-60 players you can do some amazing things in that game. If you do not, you are missing out on at least 40% of the entire game's content.

its all preferance i played UO for many years then alot of people went wow better graphics on EQ. so i tried EQ for a couple of weeks and didnt like it at all to much of a grind for me. i really dislike almost all games that toute better graphics cause there still crap im sorry but trees arent square lol when true 3d comes out then i might like them but to me 2d UO graphics are still the best way to go.
when a single game has ruined many peoples lives divorce finacially ect also killed people its bad not blaming the game but there should be a 15 hour max play time a day or something but god forbid controlling the addicts. i mean there are ways casinos have to monitor this and i know i live in reno NV. to clarify divorve finacially and killed i mean people didnt have the will power to stop for there own good the game EQ is such a leet item driven game its hard for some to put it down. my wifes the same way if it wasnt for me she would play till she passed out everyday miss work and all im slowly dragging here away and play a little less. she plays wow and daoc.

Exactly, for people who were willing to group, grind, and raid, the payoffs were enormous. But, those requirements would have eliminated most of the posters here, so they would never have known anyway.

Actually no.
As of 1999 there were 5 mainstream mmorpg which were UO,lineage,M59,EQ and AC(it came out like 2 months after EQ).
And note EQlive did not even break the 400k subscriber mark till after 2001 which by then had added DAoC(the game i left EQ for),AO,WW online.

True but... M59 was almost unknown, came out too soon and flopped miserably.
Lineage was completely unknown to the western market for a long while.
UO and AC are very, VERY different game from the Diku MUD template of Everquest. EQ is the stereotype of THE most done MUD around, the diku mud. So if you liked that kind of gameplay you really could not go to AC or UO and find the same cause it wasn't... not even near.

Gave it a four myself. I believe it to be one of the better ones out there, but it's by no means perfect. It is one of the better choices when compared to some of its competition though.
i gave it a three cus i think it took SOOO much from DAOC. which is a classic, but i got bored after two or three years. crafting remidns me very strongly of DAOC, rogues are just like ones from DAOC, i think a lot of teh classes are similar to DAOC, but all games have similar classes to each other, but this one especially give me nostalgia for DAOC.
THE Pvp CAN TOTALLLY BLOW AT TIMES. i know their are dishonor points for level 60 fuktards, killing level 30s without provacation, the dishonor system is too weak, as oppposed tot eh too strong one in lineage two. i just think the PvPdepends too much on players not being fuktards, which a company should never depend on.
BUt overalll i like the aplication of the DOAC kill task system working after beggining levls( as opposed to it only working to level 20 in DAOC). i alos like the fact that getting equip, mounts, and new skills is relatively easy and you dont have to worry about how much ur spending most of the time.
Overall i think its damn good, just not innovative at all it took everyone elses ideas and slightly improved on them, and combined just hte right ingrediants.

Huh? No it doesn't. Right above the rating are the words:
USER RATING
So it's not the people who run MMORPG.com who are rating these games, it's the people posting on the forums, etc.

I'm playing it currently and I'm having a blast. I'd rate it a 3.5, but because that one wasn't it, I rated it a 4.
It lacks a few things I wanted in, but knowing Blizzard they'll be implemented sometime.

Perfect description. It has some improvements (Interface, quests) and some bad things (bad pvp, bad crafting system)
Nothing new.

If they implement guild capturable stuff and/or player controled outposts and territory, it'll get a 5/5 from me.
