EQ 1, it was my first love...nothing quite like it, but I've tried to go back and now I'm more used to newer MMO's so it's hard for me to play it. Sad...I had so much fun in that game too. I just don't have the time anymore to try to relearn how to play..nor the money to sub to it either. I still keep in touch with some of my guildies though
Probably the worst list of first MMOs I have ever seen. Anways, Ultima Online 1998 and I still my account active to this day. Eventhough UO is a shell of what it used to be it's still one of the best (if not the best) sandbox around.
Lineage 2 was the first MMO I actually payed for and played longer than 3 minutes (and I continue to play to this day). Back in like 5th grade I tried runescape when it was released for about 3 minutes before going back to starcraft.
Ragnarok online, i was in 6th grade (or 7th) and the world felt so massive, i was blown away. But i wish i could have played UO at that time. sad that i missed it.

Do you want some cheese with that whine?
Island of Kesmai, go CompuServe, good old days..
Kingdom of Drakkar, a game similar to Kesmai but run on MPGnet instead of Compuserve.
Then UO beta.
Then EQ ...
That's a very small list... And my first MMO isn't on it.
Mine is Horizons: Empire of Istaria - which I see is still active, unbelievably (now just called Istaria).
greatest list of all time.
Damb Kingdom of Drakkar is still running...nariusseldon nice one

High Five FTW!
Meridian 59 in 1996.
That list kinda sucks, it should have about 20 games and a "other" choice.

new poll, hmm, OP none on your list
I dabbled with more muds before that.. but never any length of time. Internet back then was expensive. ($2.50/hour)

Bad list.
First MMO Shadowbane, unless you want to consider The Shadow of Yserbius as a sort of MMO...
A man is his own easiest dupe, for what he wishes to be true he generally believes to be true...
Lol Runescape for 4 years.
Grind
star wars galaxies! played from just a few weeks after launch until the end!

Mine was runescape.
Btw, you might want to chagne your poll to include some actually old MMOs. You might also consider using basic grammar and punctuation.
Dark Age of Camelot back in 2002, and I thought it was stupid to pay a monthly fee for a video game, yet here I am...
Porn has voice acting, who doesn't skip it?
Realm Online was my first MMO, but in a lot of ways I see my first MMO being SWG because it was the one that had the largest impact on me.
Play as your fav retro characters: cnd-online.net. My site: www.lysle.net. Blog: creatingaworld.blogspot.com.
This is a bit lame as you left out alot of first gen games like Ultima online, Shadowbane I'm sure there were others.
AMD Phenum II x4 3.6Ghz 975 black edition
8 gig Ram
Nvidia GeForce GTX 760
10 REM HELLO WORLD DUNGEON
20 HP = 10
30 AC = 5
40 D = 6
50 PRINT "YOU SEE A CAVE. PRESS ANY KEY TO ENTER"
60 GET A$ : IF A$ = "" THEN GOTO 60
70 PRINT "YOU ARE ATTACKED BY AN ORC!"
(ok, it may not technically have been multiplayer or online, but in my imagination it was WoW)
Runescape. Many people in my elementary school played Runescape. It was an easily accessible game so word of it spread like an airborne virus.
Do I dare say Evony?
Thanks,
Mike
