Like it or not, all my points are very valid. Feel free to defend EA all you want but I'm not attacking their games, I'm attacking their corporate POLICIES which have, in the past, shown themselves repeatedly dubious, at best. Your pic makes me think of the below pic. I highly recommend changing your pic so people know what they're getting themselves into.
No offense there... i liked ME1 and ME2 and i believe ME3 will be good.
But what piss me off is that it requires goddamn internet connection to play single player game. I despise of that idiocity. And yes, I pirated majority of games that done that. I was once fooled by AC2 because i have crappy internet conection and my savegames were screwed up and guess what? I pirated that one too eventhough i gave money for it
I understand theirconcern about fighting Piracy, but they fight me instead of fighting them, so i get to right side of battle. However, dont get me wrong, i bought TL1, Skyrim, Fallout 3 and all other games that didnt require "constant freaking connection" to play them..... sigh... offline.
EDIT: I dont know if i was allowed to speak about this in public, i apologize if i offended anyone by "commiting a crime". Dont ban me please.

sorry, calling something spyware doesnt make it spyware.
From the IGN story:
Priestly confirmed that "users will be allowed to opt-out of Mass Effect 3 data collection from inside the game...".
Surely collecting data and sending it to EA is the pure definition of spyware? Sure, they let you opt out of the data collection here, but what else is Origin doing that they're not letting you opt out of?
You know, Bioware is one of those companies I used to just buy products from, no matter what the review score said. Stuff like this is seriously making me cancel preorders. It's turning into the moving industry. If you buy a movie, you're watching a 5-minute long ad first , followed by all sorts of copyright disclaimers. People that download it just click and watch.
If you buy a game these days, you're forced to have the CD in your drive, be online at all times and find vague buttons in a menu to prevent your data from being shared, while being asked to pay $10 more for meaningless addons that should've been in the disk. And ho-ho-ho if your internet connection dies during your single-player runthrough, back to the menu you go.If you download the game, you get everything for free with none of these side effects. It just makes no sense to me. Stop forcing crap down the throats of paying customers. No wonder piracy is a problem. It's like they're begging me to download their games.

From what I understand from those articles, you don't have to have a constant connection to play: there's only 1 time that you need to go online, that's at start or install to register/validate your game copy, and after that you could cut your internet cable with scissors and still be able to play ME3 for as many hours and months as you might like.
Maybe i missunderstood something, but from what i read, i realised that they were about to join "we need you to be connected online all the time in order to play" modern-day trend. If i am wrong, then its ok.
However, haveing third-party software running in background is other thing. i dont get the use of it. Storing savegames online or what? I pray to gods that it wont be mandatory to be runned in background, which in turn will require *sigh* internet connection. IF that proves right, ill uninstall garbage soon after i disconnect from internet.
EDIT: maybe i DID read the article wrong... i had a crappy day and im all pissed off. peace be with you guys

I just followed the link on that IGN page and found this little bit of information:
Multiplayer will affect the outcome of your single player game. Your "Galactic Readiness" rating will determine the outcome of the final fight against the Reapers.
Goddammit! I play Mass Effect as a single player game, not a damn co-op online game! The more I hear about this game, from the forced Origin to multiplayer affecting my gameplay, the more I really don't want to bother with it. What the hell is wrong with them? Mass Effect 1 & 2 were probably the best single player RPG's of their time - I really don't rate Dragon Age - now they pull this crap where I suddenly need to go co-op mode?
Of course, this also means it's going to be next to impossible to get a pirate copy, forcing you to go down the Origin route which nobody actually wants, as according to IGN you need an Online Pass to be able to play online, which you're not going to be able to get with a pirate copy. So if we want this game, which started life as a single player game, probably one of the best I've played, we have to go Origin, play multiplayer co-op maps, or our Galactic Readiness rating will likely end with everyone dead.
What the hell were Bioware thinking? I swear, EA ruin everything they come into contact with.

Ah yes the rightsous pirates who look for whatever excuse they can come up with for why tehre stealing tehre games, whatever lies they have to tell themselves to make them feal better.
I want to play ME3, but I don't want Origins on my PC. If EA offered it that way I would buy it but since they wont... Does it make me "feel" better by justifing it? No but I sure the hell feel better not having Origins, SECUROM or other crappy "anti pirate" stuff that treats me like a pirate on my computer.
I will not play a game with a cash shop ever again. A dev job should be to make the game better not make me pay so it sucks less.
Does anyone figure if installing Origin in a sandboxed environment would make ME3 not be able to read/find ME2's save files? Or anyone with Origin in such a state, and ME2 tied to it, does ME2 have issues accessing ME1's?
This topic can't be discussed in the BioWares forums, sadly, otherwise I'd ask there
I'm pretty sure it's going to have this covered since the whole point of the trilogy is to link the story across all three games along with the decisions you've made along the way, but if you can't use your ME1 & ME2 from Steam in ME3, then no sale. Period. I'm kinda sad that I don't get to own the whole trilogy in one place though, that's kind of irritating. The decision to have multiplayer affect your outcome in single player sounds really stupid too. I was thinking that it might be cool if they weave the single player and multiplayer together, where major setpiece battles can be played in multiplayer... but someone would have to play the opposing force and that wouldn't make any sense within that context.
I don't mind Origin. I don't hate it, I don't like it... I don't mind it. My only gripe is that eventually every publisher will have their own little program like this and trying to remember which game goes with what program is going to be a pain. I also wouldn't like the knowledge that my credit card number is floating around all these different places... especially at a time where seemingly everyone is getting hacked.
Now Playing: Mission Against Terror, Battlefield 3, Skyrim, Dark Souls, League of Legends, Minecraft, and the piano. =3
All my ME2 saved characters are on my Xbox 360, so this does not concern me, for once. I really am hating this DRM crap. Companies need to pull up their big girl panties and deal with a little piracy now and then.

Whereas I already have origin on my PC, I am still a bit annoyed simply by the fact that Bioware announced months ago that Origin would NOT be required for ME 3.
At that time this debate was hot and heavy on the Bioware forums, and Bioware flat out said no ME 3 will not require Origin installation.
The fact that now EA is now asserting its control over Bioware after saying they would stay hands off makes me realize the Bioware of old no longer exsists and is now just an office of EA.
That in and of itself makes me believe I should cancel my pre-order.
I've never really understood all the steam fanboy love. Do they get off on the thought that Gabe Newell just keeps getting more and more obese from the money they are throwing at him from the over priced games on steam?
EA are a business. Why would they want to give some fat guy a slice of the money their product makes simply for listing it on his service? Why would they want to have to ask for his permission before they can release DLC for that same service? If you were in business and you had to ability to do something for yourself would you pay someone a slice of your profits?
Origin is almost exactly the same as steam was when it lauched in terms of functionality. It is no better and certainly no worse than steam in any way. Geeks love to make gangs and all rage on the whatever is 'cool' to rage on at that moment.
Yeah Kingdoms of Amalur is the same way. Personally I find the idea of making the pirated version of these games less hassle to install than legitimately purchased copies, a massively bad idea.
This same kind of jackassery, only with Steam kept me from buying both Skyrim and Serious Sam, both games I was quite looking forward to. So now with EA forcing Origin down our throats looks like I'll be giving Amalur and Mass Effect 3 a miss as well.
An industry that treats its paying customers like criminals while actually doing nothing to stop the people who do not supprt these companies, yet enjoy their products anyway, can in my opinion go piss up a rope.
"Gypsies, tramps, and thieves, we were called by the Admin of the site . . . "
Oh lovely. Like EA wasn't bad enough with SWTOR, now they're forcing Origin down our throats. Are they on a crusade to piss off as many PC gamers as possible or something?
Well considering that you had to sign in to verify your copy of ME 2 and get access to the full range of services i fail to see how this is news in any way... But feel free to skipon the game if you like.
I don't mind Origin at all. I already have BF3, DA:O, DA2 and SWTOR through Origin, and my kids Sims3 and various expansion packs (which makes that sooo much easier). So pre-ordering ME3 through Origin was a no brainer.
I also use Steam, but more for the older games that I like to check out. It just seems like most of the games I've played over the last few years have been produced under the EA umbrella, so Origin is easy and convenient.
It is on Origin, so what? What is the point of this thread.
I would laugh real hard at someone that said they were not playing the game as it was on Origin. They would have to be the sadest person on earth and deserve the fail at life award.

Well, guess I'm not getting it. Hope EA enjoys hurting their sales.
EA has this history of screwing up beloved developers... BioWare is spread eagle gettin it good n' slow.
BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward.
Still day 1 purchase for me, Origin isn't really all that bad as people make it out to be in my experience.

I prefer steam but if I have to install that crappy programme Origin I will. But it will be immediately removed as soon as I am done with ME3

I'm used to this stuff from Steam, so no worries here.
I understand why they want you to use origin ... it's to stop people from buying 2nd handed versions of the game.
I'm allowed to sell a cd i'm done listening to, a book i finished reading ... but obviously not the game i'm done playing.
Due to this silly offine games requiring to be online to play they kinda miss the fact they are pushing even more people into piracy.
Btw: Have been using steam for many years and love it ... but i hate having to run 3 different ones :S
