I think its only the isle of refuge up to lvl 10. Could be wrong though.....

It's correct.  Kind of a wierd trial though.  One year but you can only stay on Refuge Island.

It's cool, I am almost tempted to buy it now.  The game is'nt as much of as a hog like the rumors I heard.  Dunno, I'll paly around the island a bit more and see what GW brings to the table next weekend.

Actually the Island of Refuge is capped at level 6 (level 9 for artisan). It's a great way to get your feet wet in EQ2 and learn the controls and quest system, but not the best way to make a judgement about the game. The game doesn't really start until you hit the mainland.

There is only one zone, and one instanced dungeon (if you can call it that. One room cave is more like it).

Aye seems like a very cool offer.. Playing AO now and they introduced the Free for a year ( i think its even longer now) and that has generated a good amount of activity.  Good to see that even SOE is willing to give us a taste(choice) without buying the farm. Thanks for the info.. i dug deeper and was able to find out info and maps to get me started.. Now to just hide my playing from the WIFE.. man she hates EQ..  played about 2.5years on Mith Marr/Drinal..

At least this will not hit the CC.

Can ppl from mainland come over to this island or is once your off your off?

Fileplanet subscription is 9 bucks a month, eh? And with that you only get access to the Isle of Refuge?

If you ask me, I would rather just fork over the 30 bucks for the actual game, try it for a month, and have access to everything (since by what most are saying, the IoR is not representative of the rest of the game anyway).

    Just my thoughts...game on!

Fileplanet is $9.95 for 3 months or $34.95 for a full year. I won't advertise for Fileplanet, they seem to do well enough for themselves. You get more then a trail edition of EQ2 from Fileplanet as well.

Fileplanet works for some people, and others do not care to pay for it. Sounds like any other product around to me.

IMO either buy the game, get a friend who owns EQ2, or don't bother with the trial.

The isle only goes up to level 6 for your combat class (someone said 9 for artisan?) and is in no way even remotely an accurate way of determining if EQ2 is right for you.

The Isle itself isn't taxing on your computer either, but once you hit the mainland the FPS drops substantially, EQ2 is indeed a massive memory hog, and when you walk through a city where every single nook and cranny that doesn't use bump mapping is detailed and modelled, you'll notice exactly why it doesn't lag on the isle.

If you do plan on buying EQ2, good luck in your future endeavors, though don't expect me there, I personally think that, if I actually bought the game, I would ask for a full refund by now. (Won it from an MMORPG contest...the christmas givaway...go figure)

Well, are you sure you *really* can say what happens after IoR when you admit you havent bought the game, and on top of that in advance have decided to not like it?

My advice would be to download the trial (that is in fact free now, no subscription required) if you can download the 1.6 gb. I wish they could make a true trial client thats closer to the standard 100-200 mb demo size.

Yes, there is more demanding zones then IoR. Then there is also zones that require less. It doesnt show you the gameplay all the way to 50. Up to 34 I've gotten new spells and abilities that alter the way I play a lot. It doesnt show the group dynamics very well either. This game is best played in groups, and reward people that are used to play that way.

You dont have to be a paid member to download the game, at least not anyomre. So ppl who have basic membership(which is free) can download it too.
