Hi,
I was an SWG player, and now that's shutdown, I'm looking for a new home. Is there any chance someone might oblige me and tell me the best things about this game. I've been kind of finding it hard to get a good picture by reading online reviews and things.
In other words, if it was your game, how would you sell it to me?
Thanks in advance.

+: You can terraform and build modular buildings (floor, wall, roof, etc) within the range of your tribe's totem.
+: The graphics are quite good.
-: Said terraforming and architecture is absolutely meaningless. These systems are currently entirely for aesthetic, and the current proposal for giving them meaning is to protect against item decay by keeping bins indoors.
-: Everything else is a grindy and shallow system to facilitate the various mechanics of resource gathering, crafting, combat, etc.
-: The population is extremely low.
+: I guess one positive may be that anyone still playing is a very specific type of person. it is a distilled community. If you like that community, you should encounter very few people you dislike.
-: Development is slow and wandering. There apears to be very little foresight and planning put into these changes. For instance, months of development was put into the combat system, which ultimately changed very little about how combat was performed.
-: The company is unprofessional and space-headed. Up until a few weeks ago, anyone who cancelled their account could continue playing without a fee. They were aware of this issue since it started, and since fixing it, the population has dropped drastically. The lead developer has also routinely used personal problems such as family events and illnesses as excuses for slow development.
In summary, the highlights of this game are the ability to terraform and build architecture for purely aesthetic purposes. There is very little chance that any other highlights will come through. This game doesn't hold a candle to SWG.
Whiteknighting away!
Thats a bit unfair tbh. They try to let everyone know whats going on and if the guy in charge has an inner ear infection on patch day thats a pretty big deal, you wouldnt want them to release a patch without the lead designer on hand if things go badly, this is a very small developement team and they are pretty dedicated. I dont think its a bad thing and I certainly dont think its "making excuses". Would you rather they just not tell their community anything?
Secondly - The account issue. It was limited to people with preorder accounts. You also claim that the server population dropped drastically when they fixed the issue, do you have any numbers or anything at all to back up that claim? No, you dont.
You dont seem very well informed.
I would also have to disagree, numbers have been going up. Ive seen more people in game now than I have in the last 8 months.

Crafting and setting up your camp in Xsyon is very fun. But, I lost interest after a month.
Sadly this is the problem with the game. Its been stable, got its population numbers up, but there is no drive to stay in game. You can do some amazing things (builting wise), but there is no need or economy, PVE is very boring, PVP lacks reasons or rewards for doing it.
Pretty much if you love building just for the looks, Xsyon is great.

I had tons of fun for a while, being involved in establishing the largest tribe in Xsyon.
Lack of incentive for continued crafting (no decay), borked combat & animal respawns, as well as no tribal warfare mechanic just wore people out.
What this game needs is a large injection of capital and staff.
