Well, I just played Kingdoms of Amalur and I was honestly not very enticed by it. Certainly, the game is well made, is artistically pleasing to the eye, and has a rather involving combat system, but it simply did not excite me. Character building definitely looks fun, with the ability to mix and match abilties to create a very personalized hero, but several aspects of the game seemed very reminiscent to Fable. With that said, I can most certainly assert that I will not be purchasing this game.
Agree 100%. I never cared for Fable and I found myself bored to tears in this demo. Really hope the MMO is a different beast from the single player game.
the demo is fun, i really liked it. But i didnt find the Open world too open, it felt more like the good old linear God of War with some extra space to walk around. Also not being able to jump at all (just a sad attempt to jump off from some specific spots) made me sad. I decided to wait until some holyday deal that the price tag is reduced. Ill definitely get it, but not for 60$
Exactly my feelings. It's a decent effort, and one I will certainly play in the future, but not right now.
To be fair to this though, I don't buy any game at launch these day except MMOs... and the last MMO I bought was Aion so thats hardly been a regular thing. I haven't even played Skyrim yet lol.
Far better to wait a year or whatever for the GOTY edition + a Steam sale. In these days of over the top DLC I wait... I hate buying games piece by piece and I feel no need to be part of the latest hype zerg. There are lots of games to keep me in fun while new titles 'mature'
The demo is time limited not area limited so that sucks.
Its area limited too. Once you get through the conversation with the fatereaderwhateverguy, and you get the "you now have 45min of freedom to explore" popup, you can then only go about 2 playfields east, where you become blocked by a shiney forcefield-thingie that says you need the full version to proceed.
Nowhere near on quality level of Skyrim (what RPG is?), but pretty decend game overal. Nice world design and combat. Main thing that annoys me is invisible walls
well alot of good things in this demo, even though the game froze on a convo right after escaping the tower...reading this thread over all should hope they get most of these issues fixed before release
freeish char creation, is great, break crates and barrels to find stuff seems to never get old to me, did quite enjoy the tutorial part which pretty much is what I got to try in this run through, nice action though hate the camera control, especially in afew cases when trying to use the bow
hopefully it open up alot more though, the little I saw of the area out of the tower it looked like it would continue with the tunnel experience, also very easy inside the tower, didnt use a single potion...but well is just the tutorial part of the game, so hardly anything to judge by, also didnt care much for the art style
not a certain buy but probably will anyway if Im not busy with any other game....also would like to support this way of bring in money to invest in a MMO, the funding for MMOs should be solid, so if you can make a solid single player game experience is both great to get you into the universe of your MMO, and to ensure you dont have to rush out an unfinished product....or maybe tell you to drop the project if sales goes bad I guess ;P
looks to be a very nice little action RPG over all, their MMO need to be very diffrent from this to ensure a sale to me though, and ofc had a little giggle over the conversation wheel
Ok, to be fair I thought I would update my opinion of this demo. I HATE it on the PC, due to the camera and controls but LOVE it on the PS3. This game is made for consoles, hands down. I'll be playing it on the PS3 come launch.

Best graphics ever? Don't think so, I got WoW GFX vibes from the get go.
Remember they will be releasing MOD TOOLS for the PC version. So there is also that to look forward too.
