Most convinient bug ever ;)

Just for the record this is really happening

http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/01/19/swtor-unsubscribe-goes-missing-for-some/#comments

So its not just another trick or lie by the "haters"

Anyway , what i found hillarious is the following comment by Bioware :

BioWare is investigating the situation and has alluded to an issue with certain types of browsers. In the meantime, the CS team has asked for those affected customers to contact the company by phone if looking to cancel their subscription.

I mean, LOL

Is this not a most convinient bug ever ?

Just like that "CANCEL" button gets bugged, few days before end of 1st free month ?

Hehe

Only an insane person would log in with the full intention of cancelling and then going "oh, well no cancel button, I guess I'll just keep paying them."

So on the last day, today, they introduce 'Founder' title if you sub and just incase, remove the cancel button, teehee :)

There's the fact that their source for this news are "many players have written in to us".

I'd love to see a screenshot with this issue.

My account page didn't conveniently kidnap my cancel buttom while saying I'd be inevitably charged in X hours, but instead it says I am not subscribed and if I click on transaction history (even though I haven't been billed yet) I can actually see the subscription info and delete the subscription information.

So for me there is a bug indeed but people are making it sound more convenient than it actually is.

It's a QUEST for the lost CANCEl Button!

See EA provides even entertainmaint outside the game!

I logged into my SWTOR account with the following browsers:

    Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer

The cancel button appeared clearly on each one.

I then tried it on my Droid Charge, and it also appeared just fine.

i am not surprised a lot have issue, could be bioware but if i recall this isnt legal!cause this is forcing customer.but i more likly think it is a firefox issue as usual(not because of them )but because the way bioware site is probable optimised for ie not other browser since ie is the main browser on the planet!it often cause issue with other browser that arent fully compatible with the way ms stuff works.

i sure hope it isnt bioware cause they could get sued for this

It's not terribly convenient for Bioware. The people who are using credit cards can have those transactions locked if Bioware charges them for the additional month. Not only would Bioware not get the money from those trying to cancel subs, they'd be charged fees by the credit card companies for making charges that the card holders did not approve. On a per card holder basis, that could be a fairly large sum of money and could tie up a large number of employees trying to manage it.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

    I don't know....

I can see alot of people saying the following...

"Where is the damn cancel button.... okay it seems i have to call customer support to cancel.... well crap I dont have time for that right now I have to get to work... i just call when I get home"

Then they forget.... until the next day...

I guess the real test will be if people ask for a refund because they forgot to call and cancel if BW will give them one....

My money is on a "sorry no refunds" response.

What would be AMAZINGLY HILARIOUS is if they are forcing you to call Customer Support to cancel and they try to pull and AOL  on you....

OMG... I would start going to church if that happened.... so funny

I hope the wink smiley face in the title means the OP is just joking around.

No MMO studio, not even the really bad ones (StarVault, Adventurine, Funcom) would intentionaly pull this kind of a hoodwink.

Here is another question... why are they insisting you call customer support...

They have a huge development team... your telling me one of those guys cant sit down for 15 minutes quicky tap up and temporary cancelation page for people to use.... Really?

Has anyone had to call them yet? Just curious... id like to hear if they are being Civil about it and just cancelling with no questions... or do you have to sit on hold for like 5 years and then listen to a guy spend 30 minutes trying to convince you not to cancel the service?

They guy above you posted something rather suspicious wouldn't you say... that they exact same thing happens to a game with alot of the exact same developers from the last game this happened too

Yes. So long as you have a legitimate concern about a charge that violates the credit card company agreement (i.e. you're being charged against your will) credit card companies are very helpful.

So their is an issues on the customers side with their browsers that BW has no control over that is causing issues.

    This is BW fault how?
