Great game, needs work. 8/10

Me and my friends have been playing since launch, I have been playing since may, 2011. The overall game is on par or better than any MMO in the last 4 years, but it does have it's flaws.  There are issues with the graphics, and small bugs, but nothing that is gamebreaking. The gameplay is fantastic, the storylines are great, and the voice overs are top notch.

Almost everyone I talk to in game are happy and excited to be playing, The few who dislike the game are still enjoying it for what it is.

I guess the only real downside to SWTOR is the fact it had to come after SWG.

There are, you just haven't found them yet.

I would of thought the "gameplay" is standard among the industry.

I guess i fall under this category. I play because its something to do/try which is what i think alot of other people are doing.

I never see anyone outright praising the game in game chat like some religious preacher.

I'm not sure how I am missing any game breaking Bugs? I have been playing for over half a year, and have had multiple 50's before the game ever went live.  Most people would never know of these issues if they never visited the forums or were told about them. They are so insiginificant compared to most MMO launches that it's almost like they are trying to find anything just to make the game look bad.

The game isn't perfect, but when you go in expecting WoW or SWG then you are going to feel jaded coming out. It's just too bad the ones who feel this way are more vocal than the ones who are actually enjoying their time.

300 hours of gameplay and i came across two or three minor bugs..nothing gamebreaking.

SWTOR has lots of non standard MMO features that have been implemented in handful of MMOS

I never came across any whining in general chat but positive experinces so far which could differ from server to server. One can easily praise a game without sounding overzealous and like a preacher.

Servers are down so i just wanted to chime in and speak for those of us that are enjoying ourselves but aren't as vocal as the people complaining about stupid sh!t that doesn't really matter in the first month of a launch.

Having a great time.  8/10 would be a fair rating from myself as I know there are improvements to be made, and bugs to fix, yet the enjoyability far outweighs the negative.

Only the dilusional think that any mmorpg has EVER launched bug free and without need of tweaking/improvements before it can settle in.

I know to just wait and watch the update/patch river flow instead of just cancelling my account because I saw a bug.   *smh*

if you can cancel a game sub over stupid minute issues, you probably weren't enjoying yourself in the first place.

Yesterday during a pvp battle, I force jumped into oblivion falling endlessly through space for 10 minutes. and its not the first time ive stumbled apon something of this gravity and nature.

Not trying to invalidate your views or experiences but to say there is no game breaking bugs within the game is a flat out lie. They exist, Its just a matter of how many people get to see them, and how often.

It does have some nice additions to the the industry standards, But basically functions the same as every other themepark out there.

The reason i quoted the op is he/she used the word "fantastic" to describe swtors game play that doesn't sit right with me personally, "fantastic" imo insinuates something is a great achievement or marvel.

The vibe i get among my server is people are enjoying themselves but are contrasted by acknowledging the game has its flaws.

I would use fantastic. The gameplay plays above my expectations and looks amazing. I agree there are still bugs that can cause you to fall through the world, but they are not GAMEBREAKING. Annoying as hell, YES.

When I was playing wow, I would encounter actual gamebreaking bugs, and yes I have fallen through the world endless countless times in Wow. I have also fallen through the world in about every mmo I have ever played, multiple times.  It's going to happen, and it's not just SWTOR that has this issue.  WOW still has this issue, as do most MMO's out right now.

one warning, make sure the graphic skill are finished rendering before pressing next skill cause it might not work (instead of 1.5 the real cooldown is more like 2 second (bio should include the graphic rendering in the cooldown so it end up more like a 1.5 second then the actual 2,2..25 we get right now.

Not stooping or degrading them, Im just simply saying that it doesn't sit well with me personally.

If i signed up to a pvp match, and i cant continue to enjoy myself by participating because of a bug. That essentially Broke my game.

I use the world falling example because it was a recent occurance, other things happen too... my main point was to acknowledge that they exist (game breaking bugs) and not shove them under the rug. If more people put their hand up and say "hey i had a huge but the other day" Then they have a better chance of fixing them am i right?

I didn't expect anything from this game personally, I love to test. To See what new ideas companies are trying.

Do i expect it to be bug free? of course not.

    EDIT for other poster

What do you find not appealing about the gameplay? I'm very open to people who are out to better the game and not just trash it. I agree there are ways to improve the system, but it is by no means broken or unplayable. There is too much focus going into the game having to be perfect, when nothing is perfect. It cannot be turned into WOW, SWG, or any other MMO out there.  SWTOR will have it's issues, and the deciding factor will be how they deal with them.

I am enjoying my time playing. Just hit 30 on my first character (smuggler),  no alts as of yet. (account created 1/8)

    The story is great.

Graphics are nice and patch the other day adding anti aliasing makes it look even smoother.

Also the annoying green lines that cross tattoine are now gone.

    Sound and music is great.

    9/10 for me.

But that's cause I'm treating SWTOR as a single player game.

As an MMO I'd give it a 6/10 as it currently stands w/ lots of room to grow and get better.

I am a casual gamer these days though with my WoW raiding days behind me (5+ years).

I think SWTOR could have been a waaay better sandbox then themepark honestly w/ some tweaks of course.

Lots of people want something more then "stopwatch raids" as the "end all" once you hit cap.

And that is exactly what i am not doing. I am also saying what you consider 'fantastic' could be below average for me or 'just won't sit will with me'. I would hardly get bothered by how someone chose to describe their enjoyment out of a hobby.

Personally i have a few gripes with some of the design directions of combat, But they are irrelevant because The game is what it is and should be looked at objectivity.

I'm also one of those that cancelled thier subscription in the first month, this game is nothing like a mmorpg. The word "Massive" is totally ignored during it's development. It's even more Single-player than Multi-player focused. Theres no freedom in this game at all, all you can do it's walking the path the developers set-up for you and nothing in this game is Open, it's all narrow and instanced. I don't even reconsider to come back in the future unless they re-build the game from scratch. No, this game has just multiplayer options in a single-player focused game. And when I think back to the moment of headstart and the official release date, I never was able to spot more than~40 players on my screen, they were all put in other instance of the game world.

Still, I wish those that like the game best of luck and fun playing it. I and some more people are still back on the train that will bring us to the next mmorpg someday.

This makes no sense to me. Fantastic is a word that has a meaning, I dont know about you but I tend to use words that describe what I feel about something. So if something is actually really good then I might use the word fantastic, if however something is not so good I would not say it is fantastic but rather crap or below average.

So I have no clue what you are talking about when saying that you say something is fantastic even if it is not. I would do that if I did not want to hurt someone's feeling I guess but I wouldn't do it for no reason.

If people would arbitrarily use words then we would have communication breakdown.

it wasnt there till patch 1.1 (tho everything related was there but incentive)but now outlaws den got the reward back (their version of gurubashy arena in wow,but with better incentive i think!

ilum isnt half bad now still need polish but incentive for world pvp is there!

the number per area arent what we would like but they are putting incentive to make stuff happen there so i got to say this is a mmo like wow was but with less player per map!you can view it has a compromise between av in wow and wintergrasp (when it lunched wich they had to nerf cause of lag)

First of all, I used the word Fantastic to describe how I feel about the gameplay I experienced. Secondly, I'm not really sure where you are trying to go with your post. If anything your post makes very little sense.

Good is subjective though. If a thing is good for someone he can call it fantastic, only because you call somethign you consider good 'fantastic' doesn't mean it is not going to be garbage for me. And no i am not surprised that you have no clue what i am talking about.
