Considering Getting Rift

IrusIrus Member Posts: 774

I feel like playing a themepark but I don't want to resub to WoW because I've spent plenty of time on it already at this point. How is Rift doing right now? Are people enjoying it? Is it being updated well? There were a few things that attracted me about it, but wasn't ready to make the plunge. It's considerably cheaper now, so I'm less apprehensive about the financial investment.

I also heard there was some credit card fiasco. Was that sorted out? Do you trust Trion?

    Do you enjoy WoW gameplay/content/grind?

    Then you will enjoy Rift.

Having been there through the CC fiasco I can say with total honesty that i have never seen a company accept help from a fellow player and come up with a patch within hours. Ninja fast. They seem to put out a steady stream of content and the soul system lets you play around quite a bit with different builds. One of the better Game studios in my opinion.  They may have had a more recent security issue but they have some pretty good measures in place.

PS: This is not a commentary on wether I like the game or not. Despite the fact that i don't currently play I still think they are a good company.

    There is NO miracle patch.

95% of what you see in beta won't change by launch.

    Hope is not a stategy.

I gotta say that I was not a fan of this game during it's beta. I found the game to be rather bland but in all honesty I never gave it a good enough chance.

When it finally launched, I purchased the CE in the hopes that the game would be good after some work, and boy was I right. I loved launch and every couple of months they surprise me more and more by putting out massive amounts of content on a regular basis.

The company does a great job with it's PR and they seem to actually care about their community. Sure there are bound to be problems here and there, like the compromisation that occured recently, but they fixed the issue immediately and also compensated everyone for it.

I do. But, I'm more of a quester than a raider.

Nice to know that the company appears to resolve issues in a timely manner.

I'm a quester personally and I really enjoy the questing in RIFT. The storylines are pretty decent.

Also, the cool part is, you're always on your toes. It's really not safe to go AFK anywhere but a city because rifts spawn on a regular basis and spread mobs throughout the area who have only one thing on their mind, your death! :P So you can run around shutting rifts for rewards and such. It's awesome. It's one of the things I like best because there is always an element of danger. :)
