WARFRONTS - MERCENARIES
* Currently in testing on PTS: In order to reduce queue times to as near-zero as possible, players can join the opposing faction's Warfront team as a "Mercenary".
* Right now, on PTS, you queue for Warfronts as normal and may be assigned as a Mercenary when the Warfront map loads. You'll receive a Mercenary buff and on-screen callout and will be placed as part of the opposite faction's team.
I am guessing in the future they are going to make a 3rd Mercenary faction without a doubt, can anyone else taste it?

Mmmmm... fractions.
I would not get your hopes up.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
Ugh. Fractions. Take them all away, imo.
Why? 2/3rds of all players love them.
Sounds more like a step just to decrease queue times. Havent played Rift in almost a year, how are the queue times now?
My Guild Wars 2 Vids
I need to proof read next time
No ....
They want to reduce the waiting time, nothing more.
3rd faction only for battlegrounds ? What a nonsence....
Yeah, but they also divide players
yeah, that sounds more like a system used to decrease queue time, like how rewarding imperial faction to players in JQ/FA for Guild Wars competetive missions work now.
A month ago some guy data mined a few models that pointed out they are making a new city and the last few COMMUNITY messages they said they wanted to bring all out pvp to Rift. I think it is possible there will be a 3rd faction and if they do make it then all the QQ about pvp can end + opening port scion = pure win for Trion.
Honestly a third faction could save this game, it's a hell of an undertaking but I would be checking it out. It absolutely worth it.
Esp. seeing as how this game struggles with faction imbalance.
Its time for the two factions to kiss and make up and just be friends. Trion doesnt care one iota about immersiveness in the war so just end the war officially and let the factions group and guild with each other.
the next set of patch notes for upcoming 1.7 came out. the quote was talking about "Mercs" so instead of one side having more players, you can fight against your own faction.
Notes here
Well, mercs are imo interesting idea - putting some shades of gray into black and white conflict might make it more interesting even outside of warfronts.
