3) two separate starting zones ( where they never meet till later to prevent griefing)
4) World PVP that has no effect whether Good wins or Evil wins
3) the only problem i see there is the developers silly method to avoid griefing.... If we can meet and pvp from early lvls its more fun (going against grief-ers has a high cost on open world pvp making it only for high lvls). If theres no Faction in the game, each race should start in a different area like GW2 is doing, Otherwise you will end up with Rifts boring starting area for everyone even with factions.
4) Again, Open world pvp has no effect thanks to the developers desicion... Open world PvP could have an impact on faction progression, at least Lore-wise and reward the players.
Edit for 3): if its a PvP server then everyone should be aware of griefers, the game and we players should not suffer from the lack of low lvl open world pvp because of a griefer
Rift doesn't have a bad or good side. Just two different belief systems. Faith or technology
And WOW's factions are similar.
Which illustrates part of the issue: people like to immediately jump to a shallow conclusion of whether something is good or evil without thinking about it too much.

Where do I begin?... In Starquest there is a 4 main faction system. None are concrete on who they ally with. Then there is the independent faction system. The four major governments are expected to behave with certain RP roles. THe Alliance is supposed to represent the United Allied System, and have a very federation feel. Though with the leadership restrictions, and freedom of the average player they end up working more like the Empire. The Klinshayans are a Warrior Race similar to the klingons. They pretty much are the evil alien bastards abducting people and giving them anal probes. Then you have the Theratans. They are a super advanced alien peacekeeping race. The protectors of alien races who have not discovered FTL travel. Then you have the Celay. They are a split-off main faction of one of the three Alliance races that is Xenophobic, and very hostile. None of them are neccesarily evil, but the power of the military ships are a major temptation to unleash your wraith.
The civilian factions consist of pirates, haulers, traders, colonizers, bounty hunters, and mercenaries, scientists, and explorers. They have weaker ships, but are able to build colonies of their own and set up defense systems. They too have to choose whether they will be an upstanding citizen or a ruthless criminal.
There are consequences for all of your actions, and you have a lasting effect on the Universe. Every action you make shapes the world you play in. There is a deep political system for those who want to make the universe a better place, or just line their pockets though treason and shady business deals.
You can be what you want to be, and do unto others before they do unto you.

Traditional Greenskins "waaaugh" a lot, but die even faster.
Little girly-looking big eyes anime characters get crushed by standard city natives with baseball bats.
Little old grannies carrry top-of-the-line tech weapons.
Flip some paradigms.
Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.

Let's try this one:

What if they actually came out and called the factions "Losers" and "facerollers"
Might be a nice change of pace to have it out in the open instead of leaving us to guess.

Oh you mean like The Secret World?
Three factions, all neither good or evil , just different?
