As cool as the marriage feature is, what I find really cool is the cross server, cross side warfronts.
Say there are not enough guardians in a warfront queue to pop the warfront, well the new system allows defiant to queue as mercenaries for the guardian team or vice versa.
Further shortening queue wait timers and getting around the everyone rolling defiant issue.
Amazing how much new FREE content they keep just giving us with this game, well over two expansions worth now but unlike every other developer out there Rift isnt slapping it into a pretty box or posting it as a paid DLC.
Some people might not like rift, but honestly its treated its subscribers better than any game in a very long time.
You are so desperate for instant gratification video game battlegrounds that you accept the mercenary concept? As always, developers poop on the RPG of the mmoRPG term, instead of just putting in some effort and making the game have real pvp, a third realm, etc.
THis was the fastest fix, band aid applying, laziest choice possible. Like I always say, these games don't care about lore, race, classes. And why should they bother?
Just make one super race, and paint them blue for one side and red for the other. Then get a nice big cornfield and put a basketball in the middle of it. Whichever side takes it to their hoop gets points.
Seriously someone would be thrilled to play that too.
Uhh yea I've seen expansions with way less content.
outside of the latest EQ2 expansion (which was obviously the higher ups (probably above SoE) needing a year end cash grab) I have *never* seen an expansion with only 2 dungeons and one zone. Rift did a lot of refining and repackaging existing content. And the Alternate Advance so far is a joke, they completely missed the mark *so far* and it screams 'we did this quick to get it out before it was ready without really thinking about it'
No, its not *remotely* an expansion's worth of content. But keep talking like Ember Island is this *huge* landmass that qualifies as an entire expansion. Maybe Trion will think its acceptable to release one EI every year and people will say 'wow look at all the content'.
Trion has done a fine job with between expansion content. But quit the exaggeration already. Dont act like they are giving expansions worth of content for free, because they are *not*, unless your bar is set real low for whats in an expansion.
No Ember Isle isn't a HUGE landmass. None of Rift is HUGE. It is an entire new continent with it's own set of quests. And no Alternate Advancement wasn't crappy and rushed, it's called balance, they were trying to maintain it. And yes there were plenty of expansions in plenty of different games that provided way less content than has been added to Rift since launch.
Do you even play Rift? Cause I've played since beta and I can tell you the amount of content and how much the game has changed is definitely expansion worthy. Or wait I guess it could be one of the small content updates 'adventure packs' that EQ and WoW charge for? It's a large amount of content that has been added and not even your uneducated and snarky attitude can deny if we all took the time to write out all the changes and additions. And guess what?! IT'S ALL FREE!!!! All this content, free. Free. Free, no charge. Completely free content. Imagine that? Trion listens to their players and gives us what we want to play, for free. Hmmmm. Sounds like someone saying 'well so what we should be paying for this, and if we were this wouldn't be enough to pay for......' Is really running themselves around in circles. Back to the game, and all that FREE added content. Goodness there's so much...
Its an *ISLAND* not a continent. Northrend, thats a continent. Kunark, thats a continent. Its not called Ember Continent. If a game released a new expansion and the only new places were EI and CR and the new Warfront you would seriously be happy with that? Every other thing theyve added has used existing content and changed it a little.
I have a *major* problem with people accepting this as worthy of the only content coming though. I am worried that there has been no expansion news, and by now an expansion should be ready to go beta. Thats fantastic if they dont want to charge for an expansion, but the game needs one.
I guess I got spoiled by SoE with EQ and EQ2 in their primes and expect that level of content. Blizzard certainly didnt deliver it. And if there isnt an expansion in the first half of 2012 Trion hasnt delivered it either. I would rather pay for a full expansion then get part of one for free.
Hopefully, trion doesn't increase the level cap. I want the content to go horizontal instead of vertical. I dunno if I they should add any more war fronts at this point. I hope they don't add arena and instead add a PVP zone.

Considering that if you arent fully decked out in epic gear you cant do anything on Ember Isle the progression has indeed been vertical.
An expansion without a level increase will simply mean - if you dont have Hammerknell on farm then screw you.

Giiven a large part of what they have been doing the last two months is smoothing gear progression I think it ths point they havent fgured out how to do proper horizontal expansion. I do agree that Horizontal should be used, and I think the EQ games got the balance right. Typically they would alternate vertical and horizontal expansions. Even EQ1s vertcal expansions kept some kind of horizontal aspect to them because for the bulk of the population there was no gear reset.
So this is new on the pts. Wedding garb is 10 plat. It is a chest piece and automatically covers up the pants and boots in your wardrobe tab. I reported a bug about the hands not being covered automatically.
There is also a very cool new thing on the ward drobe tab to uncheck or check what you want to be viewed. So instead of having to remove something from your warddrobe tab to your bag you can now keep it there.
Also there is a boquest that cost 5 plat. It is equipable as a one handed weapon. Just some flowers lol..I could not preview the female wedding dress.

The game was fantastic through the leveling process. After I hit 50, it was boring as hell.
I absolutely DETEST their macro system.
I think gear progression is for PvE not PvP.
