I got sick to my teeth of running down those boring corridors in swtor..it was just bloody depressing to play. id rather be playing in a lush environment.
its actually 8 classes total when including advanced classes.. just because mirror classes have differn't animations and skill names doesn't make them a different class when all the skills function the exact same. The big issue is lack of variety via talent system it's really really bad right now..
How does a gunslinger function the same exact way a scoundrel does? They're two different playstyles with different capabilities. Moreover, even when looking at the performance of each individual advanced class there are different ways to play depending on where you spec.
As an example, with scoundrel you can either be a melee scrapper, a ranged dps healer or a slight combination of the two.
Needless to say I completely disagree here.
He means the mirror classes on the opposite side.
Gunslinger = Sniper
Scoundrel = Operative
thank you.. didn't think I needed to explain what a mirror class was but suppose I did:)
Well forgive me for missing that, oh noes I made a mistake, I must be a retard.

wasn't trying to be an ass just thought it was prepretty obvious there were only 8 classes.... but guess if you only played one side you might not have known
End of days? Bah...game does seem to be doing okay generally speaking.
I would agree with anyone that says End or Fall of the Republic. Considering how comical the imbalance is getting at this point.
Thank god they're 4 man groups so the couple people still playing Republic can 3 man it with a companion.
>_>
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.
Distance V Distance, does it really matter how long the SWTOR corridor is? Its fucking long, and fucking boring linear crap.
Seemless VS zone is a deal breaker for many, me included, all that travelling and zoning in elevators and whatever its so freaking anoying.
4 man parties are crap, yes, don't care about the heroics or whatever, don't think anyone argumented that u wouldnt be able to do the content because of the party limit, thats pretty moronic, but having to exclude multiple guildies from our premade, because its only 4 ppl its retarded.
Huttball might be the only thing I kind of agree, still would prefer a simple capture the flag
Looks like you didn't get above level 20..... ALL planets after Nar Shadaa are completely open, non corridor. And yes, TOR is huge. Each planet after Shadaa is several WoW zones big (several Wrath or Cata zones big) . My WoW account still has a few days left on the 6 month sub, and it's easy to compare the two.
I have a level 50 shadow that I unsubbed on the 20th.
I just had to reply to this because you are leaving out so much. The worlds yes do open up after Narshadda..............into nothingness. The planets are literally the most sterile places I have ever seen in a mmo.
All you do on these "big" planets is run forever and there is little to zero reason to ever return to these desolate places after hitting 50.
The only reason I returned to any planet post 50 was to collect datacrons.
The planet design and general layout of the playable spaces in SWTOR is horrible with a capital Whore.
Leading indicators are pointing to this title following the traditional theme park model in one more key area, steadily decreasing subs in the first year after lauch.
There's no real indication that it will mimic the longevity and growth curves of WOW unless they pull of some major content surprises in this 1st year, preferably before some other titles launch and steal everyone's attention away.

I really wish i had all the time you people have , to get 4 lvl 50s and do all the content , Sorry but just becuase people run though a game like getting the end is the real game and find out wow theres not much to do at the end , Personally I hate end game , this is were all the trolls get in gear grinds and , im to cool to raid with you , Im going to pvp and kill newbs all day . There is something to say about getting to the end , but why is there a race to get there.
Great run down OP, I am very happy with the people that are playing and the new ones that join daily.
I have found the overwhelming majority of hate comes from the fps crowd who skip the game to rush to 50. Then they have no idea or desire to engage the content actually in the game and whine about getting owned in Huttball.
I have been testing/playing for a long time and have not seen or done it all by a long shot, but then again I actualy take the game at face value and play it as though I were a character in the Star Wars universe.
It's a fun game but not if you dont bother to play it.
I wanted to address some of the feedback wondering why 'fans' feel obligated to have these kinds of threads in order to show SWTOR isn't collapsing or why now when its future is in doubt.
I can tell you that I have no idea whether or not SWTOR is collapsing. I don't think that anyone on this forum know (good or bad). As to the reason why I started the thread now is no more nefarious than I began thinking about some of the monumental debates that happened prior to the release. It seemed like people were willing to fall on their swords because of a rumor or one aspect of the game, that has proven in my mind not to be as big a deal as was debated prior to the release. It is simply a matter of I was thinking of it, so I started a thread. I was actually hoping others would add their recollections. In fact, I would also enjoy these types of recollections for threads that spouted the monumental accomplishments of the game that turned out to be less than monumental.
I think too many people see 'evil' intent where there isn't any. I readily admit I am a fan of the game. However, just as in politics, Just because I'm a fan or a matter of a certain party, does not mean that everything I say and do, is geared towards promoting them. I do have a bit of independent thoughht left in me.
Having said that, I remember another big debate.
Are the proper races being represented. There are so many races within the Star Wars universe, and there was some debate on whether this race or that race should be represented. Maybe yes, maybe no. I haven't seen any difference in the races other than an ability that usually doesn't have any significant application. Although I admit, I laughed my tookus off, when I saw a playerr die, and when he rez'd, he slapped the crap out of his companion for letting him die. TOOOOO FUNNY. As for everrything else, it appears to be more a cosmetic thing than anything else. I can say that I don't like the race with those snakes on their heads. I think they are creepy.

majority of people I see hating on the game are MMO players sick of the same old thing and expected a game that didn't feel like it should of been released in 2003... game is fine but doesn't feel like a game made for this day an age.. but maybe that's just me

not entirely sure you get the point here. I, like you play MMOs very slowly. Only one I ever maxed out was in wow. And I played wow less then 1 year, my first MMO was EQ in '99. Getting off track a little, so basically what I am trying to say is, game companies need to release MMOs with steeper content/levelling curves so as to buy themselves time before the hardcore grinders max out their levels and content. MMOs lately and SWTOR is just the latest in line, allow for too fast levelling and not enough content upon release. Its not their problem they play hardcore and shouldnt be penalized for it...because they just will quit.
Nice Roundup, but you forgot about no Free Roaming Space, and space combat being on rails.
Free roaming space would be a nice feature for them to add later, but I dont think its needed in SWTOR. What would you do in open space anyway? Space Battles maybe?
And Space Battles.... I thoroughly enjoy them, its something different to do but multiplayer would be nice. I think they have announced they will be adding that in the future..

That just wouldn't work. the 'hardcore levelers are a minority, especially when the game is made around casual gamers. If they release MMO's that make the HARCORE grinders take forever to level, what would happen to the casuals? It would take them years to get to top level. they'd lose more people that way than if they left it as is now, and just the harcore left. am i right?

Yup, the Harcore Grinders would probably complain that it took them too long to level to max, and everyone else would be QQing because the content was too hard

Another one of these threads. Why do you fans have this need to say that the game is not dying? Who are you trying to convince?
I would think they're trying to convince the same people as those who keep posting "TOR is dying" threads. Although those threads seem to have died off over the past week.
It would be interesting to not see another thread like this (or the doom version) before say.. December maybe.
I'd vote for 2022. Both kinds of threads are just a subtle troll, at this point...and my god, they're repetitive when you can see an avatar and predict immediately what the content of the post will be.
