A player driven world is the thing that i like the most, and is basically what i am looking for, and i guess a lot of us also. End game in modern mmorpgs is a joke, the repetitive content of bgs and raids that doesn't have any effect on the game whatsoever.
Well some older games had player driven worlds, to a big or a smaller extent, where you may have been doing pvp time after time, but something in the gamworld changed by who won. Example: DAOC. The ultimate player driven game is something like wwii online, where there is a campaign over a map, and only the players drive the game, who wins, how e.t.c.
Now, i am looking for a game like this. Tried DAOC again, but now it's graphics are a bit meh, and basicaly not so much the graphics but the animations e.t.c. See we are now spoiled because there have been 10 yeras with games with good animations and better graphics. So even though i like the old school and general atmosphere of DAOC, i won't loggin because now it really looks old. If you put new graphics and animations to this game it would be almost the perfect mmorpg. Anyway, anyone knows anything that is similar, has pvp, but has also a bit of an eye candy to it?
Games that i have played: Generally a lot. I will list some with a small comment so that you will understand. Abbreviation for player driven world=pdw.
T4C: On a local server back in the day where the was pdw.
DAOC: I've already said about it.
wow: end level content repetitive, and more of a drug rather than a game. No pdw.
eq2: Ok, but no pvp and pdw.
lotro: Nice but no pvp and pdw.
Age of Conan: Nice game, with very nice graphics, but no pdw as far as i know of.
Vanguard: Very nice but very little players, no pvp essenitally, and do not know about pdw.
Fallen Earth: Nice but not my cup of tea.
Eve: Nice with everything that i want, but the skill system is very tedious. Waiting for days for a skill is not ym cup of tea exactly.
Swotr: Nice, but again no pdw.
Darfall: Tried it, didn't give it really a chance, some nice things about this game, v2.0 looks interesting.
So if anyone knows of any other game that is even partly player driven, please do tell ;D
