Brilliant payment plan - I'm in

marz.at.playmarz.at.play Member UncommonPosts: 912

I'll start off by saying that I played during BETA and for the first 3 months after release. I enjoyed the game but moved back to my original love Guild Wars because I'm a PvP junkie and Rift couldn't fulfil my PvP craving. I now want a game for the PvE and since Rift is not a very good PvP game I came back because it had a great PvE aspect to it when compared to the other MMO's out there.

I've been debating returning for the past 3 weeks on a daily basis but I couldn't commit myself to pay the $15/month for a PvE experience. I've been reading these forums and others for the great reviews how the game has improved and although I wanted to sub, I just couldn't bring myself to pay the $15/month.

I decided to check out the promotion once more because if I didn't sub now before end of January, I wouldn't do it at all. I originally wanted 1 year because it sounded like a great saver but when I calculated that 3+1 bonus month = only $9.74/month I realized something. THIS IS A NO BRAINER.

I have a problem paying $15/month for PvE games, but paying under $10/month is so cheap that I couldn't say no. I realized once I paid that if all MMO's were under $10/month, I'd probably be subbed to a couple of them instead of just one because playing two different games under $20/month is so CRAZY STUPID it's GREAT!

Which leads me to ask this questions...why aren't more MMO's offering a subscription for under $10/month??? WIth so many people in todays economy hesitant to spend $15/month, it's almost easy money for Developers of MMO games to reduce their monthly pricing.

I'll be honest, when my subscription to RIFT runs out, I won't resub because I won't pay over the $9.74/month for 4 months that I got from this deal but before then I'll thoroughly enjoy RIFT to reach end game and enjoy it while I can. If RIFT offers this type of pricing again, I'm certain I'll re-sub, but for now I'll just enjoy my 4 months of $9.74/month. BRILLIANT RIFT!

If you're on the fence, grab the 3 month deal. I think it's a no brainer. Other MMO's should follow this example set forth by RIFT.

While I am not a Rift fan and I don't plan to play it (just not my type of mmorpg gameplay) still I respect Trion as it really is good company and yeah this payment plan is really nice.

If I would consider playing Rift I deffo would sign atm.

I don't play WoW-clones, however the company itself sounds solid.

The problem I had with Rift is that I can't play it for more than a month without getting burnt out, so these multiple month plans were pretty much worthless to me; now moreso because Guild Wars 2 will come out in a couple months.

    Err, don't most games have a 6 month/9.99 a month deal?

I think LoTRO was down to a 5r a month...

It's not a no brainer if there isn't 4 months of game to play...

You basically gave them the 15 for the month you would have played and an extra 25 for the months you dont feel like logging in anymore.

Yes they do but don't tell the OP that :)

The 5r was for Founders. Rift has the most reduced multi-month plans currently.

You get to keep that subscription rate if you sub for another 4 months when this one ends!   However, if you decide to let it run out and then decide to play later, and if this deal isn't available anymore, then you'd be subject to the $15 per month.

I am on 90 days right now for 12$ US. Some game site was selling 90 day time cards at just dirt cheap prices probably by accident, but they actually sold out lol

I have to agree. I would be much more doubtful to get this game if I couldn't get the game + 4 months for the price of a gas fillup. O.O

Signing up for 6 is a bit iffy for me, but 3(4) is great. That's like until summer I won't have to worry about it. And you can renew it in the 4 month manner? Crazy.

So let me get this straight the deal breaker for you to play a computer game THIS computer game came down to 16 cents per day..........right.    I think you may have bigger problems then coming up with an extra 5 bucks a month to do something you enjoy.

I have to think that $5/month is not a dealbraker for most MMO players. I don't know about the demographics for gamers, but the average American can earn that extra $5 with 15 minutes of work. I make less than the average but my decision is whether to sub, not whether I will pay $10 vs. $15.

Should have bought the lifetime back during beta for $199.

Recently did some calculations on Everquest ... I've purchased 18 expansions and actually been subbed 15 years now for a game that's only been out almost 14.. took the 2 year sub deal to save a little scratch.

All told that is over $1000 on the game and expansions + around $1700 for subscriptions + about $300 in station cash

    For a grand total of $3000 : P

Sure wish EQ would have offered $199 lifetime sub when it released.

Agreed mine is based on whether the game is GOOD or BAD not whether I have to cut one chicken burrito a month out of my budget.

You don't know me but that comment right there shows your true character. I paid upfront $38.97 for 4 months which indicates that I obviously can afford more then $15/month on a game...I think your coment is lacking any real value other then it being an attack on my personal life which shows your true character as a person hiding behind a keyboard in cyberspace knowing you can get away with it. You're sad and not worth my time to deal with anymore.

Moving along ... I just want everyone to understand that I CAN afford $15/month but I don't think a PvE games DESERVES my $15/month. I'm a PvP junkie but this deal enticed me to play a PvE game ONLY because it worked out to be under $10/month and if other MMO's were priced like this, I would be playing MORE PvE games because I do see the value in a PvE game for under $10/month, but not for $15/month.  If it was PvP game that entertained me for hours like Guild Wars has for the past 6 YEARS, I would gladly dish out $15/month or more.

Thanks to everyone else for sharing their thoughts on the topic. Cheers!
