Not a bad game! Now, here's some questions...

I downloaded and played on Dawn Island for a while last night and I'm pretty hooked. So far, I really like the game.  SInce I've been playing while half-sleep, I just have to wrap my head around pretty much everything. Like it took me about 10 minutes to figure out where my crafting equipment menu was -- I just went to bed at that point, since my brain had cleary shut off. :/

I like the Diplomacy game, alot.  I can't wait to collect more statements. Is there a way to debate against other players? I bet that would be cool.  A text game that I used to play offered a system just like this, so I'm pretty happy to see it implemented here. I think I'm going to have fun collect clothing and stuff.

Crafting is OK. I found a guide to it that I'd like to read later today. I'm not a blonde, but for some reason crafting has me feeling like one. I get it, but I don't get it. Are is there strategy invovled in getting higher grade products? I guess I'm not seeing it now as I don't have a bunch of skills.

I think that's about it. I'm a Necromancer as my adventuring class, which seems straight forward at the moment. After my trial is up, I'm hoping to head to the main game and find a nice place to build a house.  Just curious though, is it like free form building? Or, do you supply the materials, throw them in a plot and up springs a cookie-cutter house?

I chose Artifcer as my crafter class, with lumber and stone as my primary and secondary harvesting skills. I skimmed over another post that said those would be OK skills for house building. I figured that I can just buy whatever else I need.

Lastly, RP. Is there any?  When I RP, I prefer to do so in a text-based game. But, I'm just curious.

Thanks!

    Welcome !

Make sure you get 10/10/10 in levels before you leave the isle as you can't return and you get really nice rewards.

Crafting does take some strategy as you get  a bit higher. I suggest one of the crafting mods ( they help quite a bit ) although the names escape me ATM ./join craft ( join the craft channel ) in game and you shall get some help.

Necro is great class, when you get the  find body parts skill ( forget name ) make sure u use it often because you can get excellent loot drops off that which are abilities for your pet.

RP, not much although most are open to it.

Ohh and lastly, it is a good time to join people seem to be slowly returning ... general chat in thestra was very active tonight, more than i have seen in a few weeks.

Look up a guild also ! I belong to Twighlyte Song which is a pretty big guild that takes in new folks right off the isle all the time !

I've only been back a while so i'm a noob compared to Sylvarii who is pretty godly in knowledge regarding Vanguard, but ironically i find crafting intuitive but can not get my head around diplomacy.

One piece of advice check out this link.i use core UI and info map two third party apps that enhance VG no end.

    http://www.vginterface.com/

Regarding houseing i think there are various skills utilised so it's best to join a guild and have various members contribute as nothing in VG is cookie cutter, and if u want a guild Twighlyte song is a great one to join.image

When you're crafting at lower levels its almost impossible to get grade A due to the fact that your skill points are too low. The way to know how you have the best chance of getting a higher grade is to look at the difficulty of the item / work order you are doing. At lower level for crafting if memory serves me right, you have a 3 step process. So click on each step then you have sub choices. Mouse over each choice and it'll give you a little bit of information on how the action works.

From level 1 to 10 (maybe 1 to 20? Been so long since I played) you get 2000 action points to work with. So take weaponsmithing for example. The first step will ask you what kind of ingot you'd want to use, it gives you a list of varieties of ingots you can choose from and mouse over the icons and it will give you a discription of the name and stat it adds. Step 2, you need to look at the PROGRESS and GRADE, so now you have a few icons that either adds to your progress or to the grade level or both ( NEVER use the icon that adds both until higher levels, its a waste of action points) .

The most important thing to do is click on the icon that increases the progress, get it to roughly 85%-95% where ever you feel most comfortable with. Then whatever ACTION POINTS you have leftover you would choose the icon that adds to the grade level. You need to save AT LEAST 100 action points for step 3 to make sure the grade quality doesnt fall below what you want. It takes a lot of practice, but once you get used to it crafting will be a breeze. Once you've reach level 20+ or so you should be able to tackle down the yellow workorders fairly easy. Then I think at roughly around level 40 the red workorders should be a breeze. If it were only that easy right? You still have to deal with complications during the crafting process and sometimes if you dont get rid of the complications it will negatively impact your progress or the quality of your end product.

If you're just crafting regular items for personal use or to sell. To know if you have a high chance of crafting Grade A, you can just go by your crafting level compared to the level of the recipe you're crafting. So if you're only 1 level above the recipe level it will be almost impossible to get grade A (until higher levels). To be on the safe side and not waste materials I'd recommend being at least 3 levels higher than the recipe level to try and make Grade A.

Another important thing to know is, when crafting something say for example a sword. All the sub pieces like the hilt and pommel. If you can get those to Grade A, your quality will start at a higher %. So Grade A pommel and hilt will give you 18% quality when putting all those things together. Hope this helps a little.

Gray - the easiest, little to no complications

Light Blue - easy, some complications here and there

Blue - average, complications come more often

Yellow - tough, lots of complications

Red - extremely tough, complications almost all the time

Twighlyte Song is a great guild to get into, I have had nothing but positive experiences since I joined.

As for diplo try checking http://vg.mmodb.com/ and/or http://daffodil.uk.net/

You can always join TS and just ask in guild, i got a lot of pointer in both crafting and diplo that way.

If freakin Zew would bring his site vanguardsohguilds back on you would be all set  =/

    I forgot http://vanguard.wikia.com/wiki/Telonica:Community_Portal

Yeah, VGtact was great, Zew had recovered it and had it all posted on his vanguardsohguilds site but he pulled it down due to being fed up with the lack of attention to balancing a specific class.
