**I had finished making this thread once and upon posting had technical difficulties and lost everything, could not be bothered writing as in depth or adding the images again. Sorry.

With the BETA tests of TERA creeping ever closer, most likely less than a month away, it`s time for me to point out what I see as some promising features and why I expect TERA to be one of the most polished releases in a long time.

The first reason is that from talking to streamers and people who`ve played the game in Korea it seems like nothing but positive reviews, many compare it to the likes of Vincdictus or Monster Hunter in terms of combat and the engine is apparently very well polished and runs smoothly regardless of the intense visuals and insane render distance.

TERA will also be receiving yet another content patch throughout February and since En Masse stated that we will be kept in sync with Korea upon release this should also be included with the May 1st release of TERA.

Update information can be seen here: https://forum.tera-europe.com/showthread.php?t=26686

With this update TERA will launch in NA/EU with a level cap of 60 and a world roughly 3x the size of RIFT. Not to mention the game has already been out for a year in Korea and the graphics are almost out of this world for an MMO. These are signs that this will be one heck of a polished release.

Now I will delve into the combat aspects, the main attack/combos are performed with right/left click on the mouse, dodges/blocks and skills are performed with hotkeys. Collision detection is in this game and players/monsters alike have hitboxes, meaning, if you swing your sword and it hits 5 monsters, it does damage to 5 monsters. Also BAMs(Big ass monsters) are apparently more fun and more complex than your average WoW raid boss, they are elites mobs that appear all over the world of TERA throughout levels 20-60.

Example of combat and a BAM called a Balrog.

Secondly, the political system in TERA seems rather interesting although not seriously developed yet. From what I have gathered there are 18 provinces/territories and each can be controlled by a guild or a guild could even control multiple territories. The guild in control of that region can influence PvP restrictions, shops, taxes and whatnot. Guilds can stage Guild vs. Guild battles in order to gain control over provinces, although i`m not sure if that`s the only method available.  The political system and end-game content in general looks to be absolutely amazing if Bluehole sticks to the information they`ve given us, to read this information click the link below:

Lastly, the stunning visuals and scale of the world is just great, everything is bigger in TERA. From the Baraka, to the monsters to the cities. The landscapes are also out of this world, you`ve got everything from frozen lakes, to open plains, blazing deserts, sci-fi dungeons, haunted forests, rainy jungles, middle-earth, and beautiful beaches.

This particular region I found exceptionally beautiful:

Also, here`s a fan-made TERA trailer I feel deserves some recognition:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQ_uNpgyyL4 (It seems 1080p is a common thing for TERA youtubers)

What are you most excited for with the release of TERA?

I think this should be added to the title.

    .... we hope.

If NCSoft has ANY merit the Cease-and-Desist will kill the game.  You'd better hope there isn't a shred of truth to the company espionage side of things or it'll never be allowed in the U.S. legally.

There is always the possibility that they put the servers in a land that doesn´t care as much though.

But yeah, there is a very real possibility that we never see a western TERA launch unless NC soft agree to some kind of deal.

I hope the game launches though, it is really pretty and I signed up for the beta tests myself.

I keep my hopes up and no news or concern has been shown by En Masse or TERA. They`ve just been going along as planned, even one of En Masse employees stated that the issue with NCsoft will not delay the release date on the official forums.

I'm really looking forward to the release of Tera, I just hate the fact that companies feel its neccasary to divide the playerbase into NA and EU. Being from the UK I have to make the choice of playing on the NA servers where i'll probably have a worse connection, but there will a common language spoken throughout, but then I wouldn't be able to play with my friends should they choose to buy the game and no doubt play on the EU servers - i'd have to buy a second copy of the game and start from scratch :/

Also, Frogster is pretty, well, meh...

  • PivotelitePivotelite Member UncommonPosts: 2,145

Well, if this isn`t a sign that things are going of as planned for En Masse I don`t know what is.

Pre-orders are now available, with nice exclusives.

Very cheap box price and CE Edition price might I add.

Edit:I like how they actually add deals for being subcribed for multiple months,

The timing on this is odd.. makes me think that even if NCSoft fails in court, they're hoping they'll kill the game, or at least delay it until after GW2 comes out.  Which seems pretty underhanded to me, and surprising that they consider Tera to be that concerning, competition-wise.

As far as its chance of success goes, I have no idea, except they've completely failed to prove anything so far, suggesting that they never will, and hope to be able to just do some damage, anyhow.

    When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

    Loke,

I've always wanted to ask you:

Are you Constantine from American Idol?

Your avatar looks just like him.

I have a feeling a large marketing push may be coming...they just released some MMO-FO video and started a facebook group. Also distributers listed are Walmart, Best Buy and Target...some big name companies.

I like that the game is 49.99... deluxe 59.99 and CE 79.99 ... really happy people didnt follow the swtor bubble.

Everything I say is my opinion or personal preference. You may or may not find it useful to your cause but regardless I am entitled to it.

Oh god one more week! I can't wait to see what they've changed since a year ago

  • BenjolaBenjola Member UncommonPosts: 843

Well I just sent 5 euros Tera's way which bought me Beta access for all closed beta weekends or sumsuch which will give me enough time to see if I like the game and most importantly, if my aging PC can handle it.

If I decide to buy it those 5 bucks count toward the purchase price, if not I lose 5 euros which is okay with me.

It's the same pre-order system TOR had I think, I'm talking about EU of course not sure if it's same for NA.

With that lawsuit comming up and my general MMO scepticism that I developed in the last decade I don't really feel comfortable dumping 50 euros for pre-orders of any game really, so this pre-order system works fine for me.

I care about your gaming 'problems' and teenage anxieties, just not today.

The lawsuit wont keep Tera from coming to NA. NCsoft has no proof that they stole anything from Lineage 3 theyre just trying to give Tera bad PR.

However here in America any news is good news so I think this will backfire on NCsoft. Ill wait for a trial before I give Tera a go but its defintely on my radar.

But it wont because all you've read is exagerations from NC's lawyers.

Two of the people that worked on Tera were convicted and Korean courts said it could also be taken to civil court.

I'm confused on the nothing has been proven point?

  • MikehaMikeha Member EpicPosts: 9,196

So to preorder and get the beta access you dont have to a pay the full price but just put $5 down at Gamestop as a preorder?

  • PivotelitePivotelite Member UncommonPosts: 2,145

Well ive preordered, very excited and looking to have some fun with my friends on the BETA. I have 4 buying it, biggest group of irl friends ive ever gotten for an MMO. I am way too hyped up for this, I know it will be good but the excessive hype is going to make it less enjoyable.

What were those two people convicted of, exactly?

Is that the legal terminology?  I'm just curious, because what they were convicted of exactly might be indicitive of whether it has anything to do with Tera or BHS, or if it was just something some employees did wrong on their own.
