Has anyone else noticed a battle between these two games for 2nd place on the hype meter? I see a flux of negative comments on the hype meter of both games which I believe to be from fans from one game rating the 'rival' of their game down.
I think it's funny how two games from completely different genres can 'battle' each other.
Comments
Yeah and it's exactly the reason i give little credit to the 'Hype' related ranking around here. They are all skewed in one way or another. I stopped hyping games I'm interested in or playing about 3 years ago as I found it to be pointless. The hype meters are totally meaningless.
Edit: I went and hyped it anyways... not that it'll do much good... LOL

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.
I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.
I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.
I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.
what make you believe those two games are in a battle? sry but I can't see it, and I never saw a post of an AA/TSW fan bashing TSW/AA.
" I see a flux of negative comments on the hype meter of both games which I believe to be from fans from one game rating the 'rival' of their game down.."
I have no reason to believe in it... both are less famous than SW:TOR & GW2... and everybody knows that smaller comunities have less "hate" to sow.
I think that's funny as well. But mainly because they aren't
I sit on a man's back, choking him and making him carry me, and yet assure myself and others that I am very sorry for him and wish to ease his lot by all possible means - except by getting off his back.
I plan to play them both and that hype meter is a joke... some of those games in the top 10 are terrible MMOs.
I'm just speculating, that's why I sated "I believe". Just wanted to see if people also think that this may be happening or not. I
Frankly I don´t see the point about getting hyped at all for AA until they have a western publisher. It is possible that we never ill see it even. Yeah, I hope they do get a publisher, but until they do I ain´t hyped at all.
How comes no one is hyped for Class 4? That game have loads of potential and will probably get millions of players?
Heck, they have Strain as lead designer (lead designer on Diablo, WC3, first lead designer on Wow, GW 1 & 2), everything he touches sells gold.
I don´t see either TSW or AA go up against C4.
I am really hoping archage is good and gets released in US. if not I can brush up on my korean and play it anyway.
TSW is Funcom so it will suck. Not hyped at all.
Edit. Loke brings up class 4. That looks like it might hit the spot as well.
Class 4?
I can't wait to play both these games. I have a little more hope for what AA could be but it's a lot easier to get very wrong. TSW on the other hand I'm pretty happy will have a damn good story, then they just need to give me content and get the combat fun and interactive and I'm there.
As you said they are both different games and I will be subbing to both if they deliver.

The person who is certain, and who claims divine warrant for his certainty, belongs now to the infancy of our species.
Think it's a "zombie" MMO
Every game is in a battle. They are all fighting for the leisure time of the massses.
If these two launched at the same time, for example, I as someone that likes the look of both of them would have to choose who gets my money.
It's not like many out there really only play one sub genre exclusively, at least not as many as forums would lead you to believe.
Imho in worst case scenario XLGames will publish it in west themself. Downside to this would be that we would have to wait a really long time for them to self-publish. They need to set up Koran service themself, earn money on them , then set up subsidaries in NA and / or EU and then publish. Could take quite long.
Unless AA flop in Korea ,China, Honkkong, Taiwan , Singapure , Macao and Japan (think there are publishers for those countiies) it will come to west cause those operations will revenue more than enough money for XLGames to be able to publish it in west.
So AA imo will come to western markets - question is just : when?
I bet on 2013.

As for TSW - while game looks promising in some aspects, planned doble dipping business model killed my hype instantly.
There will be box + sub = ok with me I prefer this model actually (for example I will not play ArcheAge if it will be freemium or f2p in west - sorry ) BUT then I heard sub might behigher than 15$. I thought - well ok I don't mind epecially for good game with quality service. But then I heard there will be cash shop on top of that that is suppose to bring 35% of revenue.
Are they sane? Seriously...
Perhaps because it'll be a console-only?
Not just console only, but isnt it XBox only? I have a PS3, not buying both consoles, just for a few extra exclusive titles - like this one.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
It's console based isn't it? Yeah I'm hyped for it because of Strain, too bad it is only on Xbox 360 I have PS3... . Got PS3 because I have more friends that play it.
Back to Archeage and TSW. I can't say I have realized that they keep swapping places, I only just realized when I saw TSW there instead of Archeage, I thought it had been Archeage for a long time.
hehehe,hahahahaHAHAHAHA
laughing Hyena, get used to it -_-
Hype level should not be important. Who cares about that? Most games which had some kind of hype turned out to be mediocre at best. But, both ArcheAge and Secret World have opportunity to be great games. Now everything is in hands of developers, will they make right decisions or not, is it going to be made like in old days (LOL) when games ware made by gamers for gamers with care or is it going to be just another cash machine and bad product. Choice is up to them.
The Perfect World is a zoned game, while ArcheAge is an open world design. Those two elements will determine more about a games acceptance to the player, than an erroneous hype-meter
"No they are not charity. That is where the whales come in. (I play for free. Whales pays.) Devs get a business. That is how it works."

I hope there's a whole hell of a lot more seperating Archeage from Perfect World than that..
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
I hope both are good, although, if I could make one 'great', I would choose ArcheAge, as it is more along the lines of what I prefer.
I have no conflict, because ArcheAge is far from release imo...While TSW is not.
Who even notices those parts of the site? They are meaningless. BTW, your post is adding to the "hype". So, it's your fault.

John Henry Newman: "A man would do nothing if he waited until he could do it so well that no one could find fault."
FreddyNoNose: "A good game needs no defense; a bad game has no defense." "Easily digested content is just as easily forgotten."
LacedOpium: "So the question that begs to be asked is, if you are not interested in the game mechanics that define the MMORPG genre, then why are you playing an MMORPG?"
First of all...the hype meter on this site is one of the largest rating jokes known to man. No offense mmorpg.com who will probably ban me now but...anarchy online and asherons call (both phenominal games) oh and DAoC...three games that were hyped up like 10 years ago and are in no way hyped today in any way shape or form are on top? How are these games hyped? Also you have 90% of the site that has been unrated for YEARS...on top of a whole boatload of browser games and non rpgs in the list...anyway...i dont pay attention to it and neither should anyone else....
As for the choice between these two games, AA and TSW...there are a few things about AA that i really...well its crushing my interest in it. First is the wonderfull "pick 3 skills out of 10" so much for sandbox.... It seems more based on a build your house then play house mechanics than a RPG...its got a korean maker ( sorry track record i hope they do well but i said that about aion and well...yeah) also no NA publisher means theres still time for this game to be a GPOTATO game...meaning the NA publisher is going to be a huge deciding factor on how this game is going to be marketed. Too much in the air.
As for TSW...still a whole lot unknown..seems to be a story driven RPG with sandbox character progression with seemingly little restriction.. tons of skills to master and create my own unique rotation... Yes i know..funcom...my favorite game ever was anarchy online though and AoC has some of the most fun combat and pvp ive yet to play in a themepark (a year after launch though)...also the themepark style battlegrounds...hate the crowd that brings and the constant OP/NERF bickering along with the "ill quit if they dont do what i say rather than me figuring out a counter to it" cries.
Both are up in the air. For me...so sick of the midieviel fantasy RPG...the story of TSW seems just fantastic and doesnt look to be predictable in any way. Also the "pick 3 skills out of 10" absolutley ruined AA for me...im not rolling alts in a sandbox...which is why i didnt stay in some of those sandboxes that were unfinished anyway.
Neither is a raw sandbox but its a step in the right direction so i hope both do well and i think they will.
You can just change your skills that easily? You don't have to make more than one character, to try different types? What fun are choices, if they don't mean anything? That does sound like a big fail to me, too
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
You would still have to 1.pay the fee 2.level them up again because each tree has its seperate lvl and XP bar.
But ofcourse there will always be someone dissastified. That's how this community rolls. First they ask for freedom, and when they get it they will usually say "oh noes too much freedom!".
